If its safe for Sandakan then it should be safe for Lahad Datu, why move the coal power plant then?

It was reported in the local news The New Sabah Times that Tenaga National Berhad (TNB) is going ahead with its plan to move the cancelled coal-fired power plant project in Silam, Lahad Datu to a new site in Sandakan.

Except for a group of Sandakan concerned people who have started to voice out against the coal power plant for Sandakan, none of the elected representatives of the people of Sandakan had make known their stand on this matter.

If they are adamant in settling it in Sandakan (quoting many of their quality and strigent standard controls) then they should just let it stay in Lahad Datu. Unless there is another real reason for moving was not the environment of Lahad Datu. Your guess is as good as mine.

  1. Isn't it so obvious, just ask anyone and they'll tell you.Who is the most notable Assemblyman in Sandakan and current Chief Minister of Sabah?

That's why the coal power plant is in Sandakan.Musa needs all the cash he can get his hands on now, especially when his account in Hong Kong has been frozen.

Kudos to those opposing, keep up the good work

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to the administrator of SAPP's Blog, bloggers and fellow commentators.May we continue our fight for justice.

    Cheers.

Habuan menanti mereka apabila projek tu siap kelak tapi rakyat putih mata!

  4. Coal has to be paid cash to....China or Indonesia. It has to be carried bei ship to Sandakan, carried on side by lorry and what do they do with the "left over" sludge? This sludge is not the healthiest think around!

Sandakan get rid of Tan and save the environment for generations to come. We have much cleaner energy with gas and this gas is SABAH GAS! We are not dependent on others and would not have to pay worl market price for it!!!!!!! It is not clean and not cheap and not save!

  6. I think only Msia government ( particularly Sabah) in the whole world who does not take advantage of the gas available locally instead they want to import the coal from somewhere else. What kind of fesibility studies did they carry out ? Most probably the higher the cost the better as more money will be distributed among the cronies. In the end, all Sabahan will have to bear the expensive cost and helpless about it but too late to do anything just like the IC project. Regret and shout about it in the future will be of no use.

ACT NOW SABAHAN ! SHOW YOUR DISPLEASURE BY VOTING OPPOSITION IN PENSIANGAN.

Sentelo selalu kritik YTL kerana SAS.

  9. Which company is the contractor for the power plant? Who is the broker to supply the coal? The coal will come from overseas or our forest reserve.

  12. tsa

Subject [SAPP Blog] New comment on if its safe for Sandakan then it should be safe fo…..

Lily Au has left a new comment on your post “ If its safe for Sandakan then it should be safe fo … “

Views expressed by a lady from Sandakan regarding the Sandakan Coal Power Plant !

Here, I want to ask the Chief Minister Datuk Musa Aman, the Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Raymond Tan Shu Kiah

The people of Sandakan have strongly opposed the proposal to build the Coal Power Plant in Sandakan or any where else in Sabah, they are not from a particular racial or religious groups, young and old because this is going to affect the environment and their health, their children and the future generations. So they put up banners and sign boards making an appeal to the ruling BN Government on this matter.

As the people ‘s representatives, you are not looking at this as serious, especially the Chief Minister said in the newspapers that at the moment, the Report on the environmental impact is still being awaited and no decision has been made yet.

I am most disappointed on the statement by the Chief Minister, whereas the work on the project has already been started. Does the Government has the right to approve the project first without taking into account of any other consideration. This is how the BN Government does its tricks in pacifying the people while at the same time the work on the plant goes on regardless.

MP Chong Ket Wah, are you from Sandakan ? So far, you have not voiced out this to the State Government, may be this has nothing to do with you , because you have already
