Desperate Power Grabs

Two missing, found and missing again PKR assemblymen created a political storm in Perak on suspicion of party hopping and fueled by the "revelation" from the Prime Minister that they will soon be joining the BN.

This incident is not new...I believe...and it has been planned and executed. These duo were entrapped from the beginning!

  1. I support the Pas call for a fresh general parliamentary election to resolve the anti-party hopping law...

  2. AS USUAL, ALL THE MOSQUITO PARTIES IN BN WILL JUST NOD THEIR HEAD IN SUPPORT OF WHAT UMNO SAYS. WHEN DATO NASARUDDIN JUMP SHIP TO PR, ALL BN MOSQUITO PARTIES LEADERS CRITICISED HIM BUT WHEN UMNO ANNOUNCE THE POSSIBLE DEFECTION OF PERAK ADUN TO BN, NOT A SINGLE WORD CAN BE HEARD FROM THEM. THIS PROVES THAT ALL MOSQUITO PARTIES OF BN CANNOT FIGHT FOR THE RIGHTS OF THEIR RESPECTIVE RACE. VOTE THEM OUT IN THE NEXT GE.

HIDUP SAPP. HIDUP ANWAR. HIDUP PAKATAN RAKYAT.

  6. Should the 2 assemblymen managed to fight it out in court on the legality of their pre-signed letters of resignation....if court on their sides, then a dissolution will be imminent and crucial for the Perak pakatan government.

If this happened, MCA will be totally wiped out! Umno will be left with not more than 20 seats, while pakatan will get the rest.

Vote for a new era! No to 50 years of Umnoism!

  7. I see it like this...

    1. The 2 ADUNs are 'born' corrupted.

    2. And the BN seized the opportunity to trap them and charge them.

    3. Najib offered them to join BN if they want to survive as ADUNs. And charges may be dropped anytime!

    4. The PR leadership in Perak don't like to keep corrupted leaders. DAP and PAS are well known for their stand on corruption. Many KEADILAN leaders were UMNO leaders before, so some may still behaving like an UMNO taiko.

    5. These 2 ADUNs feel not appreciated by their leaders, especially the DAP leaders.

    6. Negotiation with BN leaders finalized. The 2 ADUNs will frog to BN.

    7. PR leaders thought they must stop the duo from jumping out. They managed to get one BN to balance the seats.

    8. The duo are deterimened to go out, and to make it less obvious, they wuld become independent YBs for a while, to cool things down.

    9. For the PR, it must be stopped. Once the two frogged out, they would dissolve the assembly to get bigger majority (for sure they will get landslide victory).

    10. Somehow..sowewhere...someone managed to produce the resignation letters for the duo. In this case, there is no need for a snap election for PERAK. Only for the 2 DUNs.

.........the fact is.. these 2 are unwanted in PR. Corrupted as the UMNO leaders (hmm.. I believe they got the training from UMNO as they were local UMNO leaders previously).

Get this - CORRUPTION BROUGHT THE BARISAN NATIOAL UP AND CORRUPTION WILL BRING THEM DOWN.

To Badawi, though thou art weak, thou are one of the cleanest leader in the country. I pray that you may stay as PM for a few years, until Najib is charged to the court.

As Obama said, "To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history, but that we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist"

  8. We vote for a candidate,so he/she bacomes a YB. Why we do not have a chance to process "No Confidence"or"Recall"to any YB. So far, I understand that the people in Taiwan and some states in USA have the right to recall any "$$??!!YB". This is one of the methods to stop the "money politics".

  9. The ploys played by the two missing ADUN in the Perak State Assembly and allegedly linked to DPM will not succeed under the current trend of political awareness of the public. The event's simply too easily linked to their pending investigation of the Anticorruption Agency. It's absurd the EC takes cue from the two erratic ADUN rather than the Speaker of the State Assembly whether there's a need to have by-election for the two ADUN seats. DPM has enough hot potatos on his hand if he wants to lead the nation.

  10. None of them who busy for nothing after being elected with the trust is a real politician. Merely a politics follower or opportunist like.
"Can we depend on them to help people and country?"
No way but many still make mistake during election. They are really fool and fooling around with our time and effort!

  12. In 1981 Datuk Harris Salleh managed to get his assemblymen to sign undated resignation letters (as assemblypersons). With that letter, Datuk Pairin was forced to resign in 1984. What did the EC do then? The resignation was not valid?

Luckily he was allowed to recontest.

Najib said he would be seeking an audience with Sultan Azlan Shah in a day or two to inform him of Barisan's ability to form the new state government.

Newsflash (4:50pm): Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin is still in audience with Sultan Azlan Shah to seek his consent to dissolve the state assembly. He was seen entering Istana Kinta at 3:50pm

Now pai rin's um-no masternajis has hooked and accepted frogs from Pakatan and forced the legal PR government of Perak to step down. Where are you pai rin? Why don't you condenm najis's for such dirty act? You should lead PBS to resign from bn as a protest to the cowardice act which is contrary to your strong disapproval for party hopping frogs. 39. I, as millions of Malaysian, have high regards for Sultan of Perak in his often enlightend remarks on certain current affairs in the past but this time he has disappointed us for not allowing the dissolution of the Perak State Assembly as advised by Mentri Besar Nizar. Instead the twisted convoluted flip-flop bizarre attitudes of the 'Gang of 4" have won his attention is beyond comprehension. He sworn in a new Mentri Besar, while Mentri Besar and his team is still around.

His Royal Highness' decision is reminiscent of Election Commission's refusal to hold by-elections for the ADUN seats held by the two resigned PKR members as advised by the Speaker of Perak State Assembly. Are these events pure coincident?

PR coalition led by Mentri Besar Nizar to take the case to court is logical and proper.

  48. About 1000 people gathered at the Ipoh City Hall field this afternoon to declare their support for the Malay Rulers.

The event was organized by Umno Youth and several NGOs including GPMS.

Umno Youth members came in from other states like Selangor, Penang, Negri Sembilan and Kedah to joun their Perak counterparts at the gathering.

"Elements like Karpal Singh who do not respect the sultans should disappear from the face of the earth", According to GPMS vice-president Jais Abdul Karim.

The crowd held banners, one of which read 'Nizar penderhaka Melayu Zaman moden', and shouted 'Daulat Tuanku'.

In his short address at the gathering, Khairy Jamaluddin suggested that the Perak Sultan should banish Mond Nizar from the state as many started to burn posters of the ousted menteri besar on the field.

Do we all remember the displayed word - Natang?

I presumed those who understands Bahasa Malaysia knows what it means without the need of dictionary.

Did they forget this banner displayed in Terengganu by Umno and Umno Youth members?

What did they call our DYTM Yang di Pertuan Agong who is also the DYMM Sultan of Terengganu?

What did our PM says about the decision by DYMM Sultan Terengganu and our present Agong?

    [Quote]

Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi defended his choice of former MB Datuk Idris Jusoh for the post, saying “the appointment of anyone other than Idris is unconstitutional and invalid.” He said this was because the majority of the assemblymen in Terengganu wants Idris, the Jertih assemblyman to be reappointed the MB.

    [Unquote]

Did Umno Youth forgot about their protest against the Sultan of Terengganu on the appointment of Ahmad Said?

    [unquote]

Did they forgot about 1988 Constitutional crisis involving the Sultans?

Did they forgot about the Perlis MB saga in March 2008 where words used was contemptuous against the Sultan of Perlis?

    [Quote]

"But the Raja's decision was to appoint another person, I do not know why," Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said. He also said that no one should go against Abdullah's decision but should instead respect his leadership. "This is Barisan Nasional's pride. If there is no respect for Barisan Nasional and Umno, who else will respect them?

    [Unquote]

"No one should go against Abdullah's decision ... no respect for BN and Umno? The Sultan of Perlis went against Abdullah's decision and accordingly it must be construed as a disrespect to Umno and BN? Saying the Sultan had disrespect to Umno, must, in the context of GPMS earlier statement be construed as treason too!

  60. Translated from Chinese posted on Feb 10 at 1:19 PM and 1:20 PM into English….(approximately what it meant)…

    -----------------------------------
Don’t treat politics as a game

As a elected representative of the people, it is the responsibility of the rep to voice out the people’s grievance, needs and should not be treated like a game.

The voters are your boss. Defections from party to party recently showed that nobody can guarantee the loyalty of a person to a party and also the accountability to the people who voted you.

Instead money politics take a main stage in the event of the Perak episode. Two PKR assemblymen and one DAP assemblywoman suddenly missing and resigning from their own party and aligning themselves to BN were irresponsible acts.

Dap’s Jelapang assemblyperson, Hee Yit Foong, played hide and seek for 24 hours, then coming out to declare her support to DAP but later jumped ship together with the 2 PKR assemblymen and supporting the BN thus causing the Perak Pakatan government to collapse.

Will these reps get the support from the voters in future?

    DAP defector “ungrateful”

In 2004, DAP gave Hee Yit Foong a chance to change her life.

She was without a high education, lack of leadership, no so good oral skills and being a factory worker was given a golden chance to contest under the DAP ticket which she won with a slim majority.

With her inexperience and no financial, the DAP leadership lend a hand to help her campaign, assist financially which led to her defeating BN candidate Mah Hon Soon.

She was dedicated and worked for the people after being elected but eventually she changed and was not in good terms with other DAP members within her constituency.

She moved to Ipoh, away from them and in 2008, she was also selected as a DAP candidate in Jelapang during the political tsunami in March 8.

She was given the post of Deputy speaker in the Perak Assembly. However, her personal interests, greed and power led to the downfall of Pakatan government when she betrayed DAP.

Her actions had caused much worry and anxiety to her family members who were being scorned by the people. Her father and mother had to apologize to the people because of her.

In the coming election, elected reps who frogged should be totally rejected by the voters so that the country and people will prevail.

  72. Jelapang folk still furious with Hee

Arguably the most hated woman in Malaysia at the moment, Hee Yit Foong was again the main target of public resentment. This time at a ceramah in her constituency of Jelapang on Thursday night.

The 1600-strong crowd at Pakatan Rakyat's 11th ceramah addressing the Perak political crisis responded emotionally when Pakatan leaders criticised Hee for her defection.

When ousted exco Nga Kor Ming asked the crowd whether they thought Hee should resign, almost every one in attendance raised their hands to say yes.

Nga and ousted Perak Menteri Besar Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin also apologised to the crowds for Hee's defection.

The ceramah is widely seen as a strategy by DAP to whip up public sentiment against Hee after she claimed that she quit the party because she was marginalised.

Judging from the crowds' response and the RM4,106 in donations collected during the ceramah, it seems the strategy paid off.

Although police have banned political ceramah in the state, Pakatan had managed to obtain a permit for the ceramah in Jelapang on Thursday night.

    Chee: She is 'rubbish'

Among the DAP assemblypersons invited to speak were Keranji assemblyperson Chen Fook Chye and Buntong assemblyperson A Sivasubramaniam.

Chen, who was previously close to Hee, poured scorn on his former friend, going as far as to call her "rubbish". He added that instead of admitting her wrong move in defecting, Hee had tried to blame the state party leadership for her move.

Chen ended his fiery speech by shouting, "I want to kick this rubbish away!", prompting the crowd to join him in blasting Hee.

The final speaker of the night, Nizar, stressed that he was still the menteri besar and slammed Barisan Nasional for using "dirty tricks" to topple the Pakatan-led state government.

He also urged voters to vote against BN in the upcoming Bukit Gantang by-election to send a message of no-confidence to the new government.

Thursday's ceramah is a clear indication that instead of abating with time, public anger and resentment for Hee is only increasing and judging from the crowd response, it would be safe to say that the BN-friendly independent should stay well away from her constituency, indeed Perak, for some time to come.

  82. 66 NGOs press for fresh elections in Perak
    Andrew Ong | Feb 25, 09 4:29pm
Fresh polls in Perak is the only proper and democratic solution to the current political impasse which has crippled the state, said 66 civil society groups in a joint statement today.

The groups argued that the current method used to oust the Pakatan Rakyat state government, did not adopt democratic practices such as moving a no-confidence vote against Menteri Besar Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin in the state assembly.

The joint statement further states that arbitrary withholding of royal consent for the dissolution of the state assembly, without proper justification, was also damaging to the country’s separation of powers between the monarchy and the state.

“To oust a government, a vote of no-confidence must be carried out on the floor of Parliament or State Legislative Assembly where debates and deliberation may take place.

“Whether or not permissible by the letter of law, audience with the ruler or statutory declarations cannot be the substitute for a formal no-confidence vote,” read the joint statement.

As a no-confidence vote has not been passed in the state assembly, the 66 groups hold that Mohd Nizar is still the legitimate menteri besar of Perak.

    Affirm parliamentary democracy

The groups added that the appointment of the second state government was ultra-vires (beyond legal powers) and the use of the police and other state apparatus to protect the new government damages both parliamentary democracy and the constitutional monarchy in Perak.

“We call upon all Malaysians to express support to the above position to affirm parliamentary democracy and the constitutional monarchy.

“We must work together so that good sense may prevail in the palace, amongst the political elites and the general public.

“Returning to democratic and constitutional principles is the only way out to ensure political stability and political will to stay focused and deal with the imminent economic recession,” concluded the joint statement.

Among the 66 signatories are All Women’s Action Society (Awam), Pertubuhan Jamaah Islah Malaysia (JIM), Suara Rakyat Malaysia (Suaram), Kuala Lumpur-Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall civil rights committee and Selangor Malaysian Indians Association (Mindas).

WHAT THE PRESS DID NOT REPORT
    Cross-Examination of IGP On 25/6/2009

For the first time in the history of the PDRM and court proceedings, the IGP PDRM, Tan Sri Musa Hassan, gave evidence against the former Director of Commercial Crime Investigation Dept (CCID), Dato Ramli Yusuff, in a trial in the Kota Kinabalu Sessions Court. The Judge is Puan Supang Lian, the DPP Is Kevin Morais (KM), the lead Defence Counsel is Dato Shafie Abdullah assisted by his junior Badrul and a Sabah counsel, James Tsai (JT). This is an account of what the press did not report.

Judge: Are parties ready to continue with the trial?

KM: Prosecution is ready with its most important witness, the IGP, Tan Sri Musa Hassan.

Badrul: Dato’ Shafie is not in court today, but we are ready to proceed.

Judge: Why is lead counsel not present when the most important witness is giving evidence? Isn’t that the point for admitting Dato Shafie to the Sabah Bar for this case. Anyway no adjournment, Mr James Tsai our Sabah counsel can conduct the case. Please proceed.

IGP wink to KM. Prosecution proceeds to conduct examination in chief. IGP contradicts all his other Directors who had previously given evidence. JT did not ask to reserve cross as was previously done for Dato Shafie.

    Cross examination by JT

Q1: You are the 75th witness in this case?

IGP: I am. But please note what the DPP and Judge said, I am the most important witness because I am the IGP PDRM, the highest ranking police officer to give evidence for this case.

Q2: You would be aware that prior to you, there were already the following witnesses:- (a) 33 Police Officers; (b) 26 Government Civil Servants; (c) 15 civilians. A total of 74 witnesses?

IGP: That may be so. But obviously you did not hear the DPP and the Judge. I am the most important witness.

    Q3: Why so many witnesses?

IGP: DPP Kevin Morais likes to have many witnesses. The more the merrier… I mean better. It shows the importance of the case.

Q4: But this is just a case about abuse of power in using a police aircraft, yet the number of witnesses is more than a murder case? Is that a good prosecution technique?

IGP: You see, we have no time constraints since we only interviewed all these witnesses after we have charged Ramli. Also, we must spare no effort to secure a conviction especially since one witness after another did not help prove the case, we just add on more witnesses until we get the witnesses who will say what we want them to say. If they still do not comply, we charge them like what we did to Dato’ Gen Yassin. Although he is a former army general, we still charge him. In that way all other witnesses will co-operate. Also the judge will get tired and relent. Yes, in that sense it is a good prosecution technique.

Q5: So your presence in court is to secure Ramli’s conviction?

IGP: Of course! As the most important witness, it is my duty to finish of what we started.

Q6: And what did you start?

IGP: Obviously you Sabah lawyers are ignorant of current affairs. We started with the newspapers getting the public excited about the RM 27 million Cop. Ramli then fell into our trap to make that Press Statement. So A-G Gani Patail and I told our PM that this is not good for the country. Also, we needed to boost the image of the ACA, which will be re-branded as the MACCA, so we need to have these road shows to boost public confidence.

    Q7: Boost public confidence?

IGP: Yes, because that blogger RPK has been writing about rising crime and corruption and linking it to Putrajaya. That is no good for the country and makes us less competitive than Singapore. You see RPK is a Singapore agent echoing what Lee Kwan Yew has been saying about crimes in Johor when I was CPO and in the whole of Malaysia when I became IGP. Also at that time, we were just about to legitimise the Alongs aligned to us to be licensed moneylenders to boost the economy. Public confidence is very important to attract FDI.
