Tan should be more grateful, honest and conscientious

KOTA KINABALU, Sep 19, 2008: More grateful, honest and conscientious was the call by SAPP Information Chief, Chong Pit Fah, to Raymond Tan, a former Deputy President, when making his statement in the press claiming the party (SAPP) had ditched him.

Tan, who is holding an important Deputy Chief Minister’s post, was very reluctant to give up his post, in view of so much vested interests and privileges he is having at the moment, which put his own interests above the party and its struggle, policies and discipline. more...

  1. Here you have a greedy, irresponsible, unpatriotic and immoral being called Tan who wants to hang on while all moral beings in SAPP unanimously decided that they will not "stay put" by trading in human anguish and the blood of Sabahans. Where was he when 99.99% of the party's top organs decided that they couldn't live in perpetual slavery and opted for dignity? He can join AMNO if he wants and no body cares. He can join MIC if he wants and but he should stop this stupidity and nonsense. Useless creature. Who is tying him to join the party of his choice? SAPP broke the shackles of slavery and isn't going to accept to be tied again. So he can sink or rather jump to the sea. Despicable greedy creature indeed.

  2. what is happening to sapp is yong's karma. raymond tan is ditching sapp as the party is no longer with barisan nasional. well, when yong ditched pbs for barisan, the same happened to pairin. his assemblymen such as chau ching tang ditched pbs to join sapp. well, maybe not karma. but that is the quality of most of the sabah politicians. they are jumpers. do you think of they think of the rakyat? just wait if pakatan rakyat forms the next govt, i bet almost all the sabah politicians will join the new federal government. even people like musa aman (maybe he is rich enough so probably he will do a lim guan seng and retire from politics to enjoy the big bucks he made from sabahans' sweat). but most of them will jump, jump and jump unlesss they are rejected by the ruling party. heard that nobody wants lajim to be in their camp. going back to raymond tan, guess why he is remain loyal to barisan. it is because he has projects with musa aman. he is such an ungrateful young man. yong really took care of him and yet .... if he can do that to his mentor, yong, what do you think will do to sabahans? anyway, without yong, raymond tan is a nobody. he will be like .... chau tet onn (once he was no longer piggy backing pairin's popularity he became a political nobody).

  3. I just cannot imagine this Raymond can utter spiteful words against Yong and SAPP after all Yong had done for him all these years.

Yong nurtured him to be one of the deputy presidents and now deputy chief minister. Yong was just too generous on him and Tan is like a pampered child who does not know the meaning of gratitude and conscience.

I look at him without anger and despice. SAPP president Yong never utter a word against him, never in the media. See what Tan, just attacked Yong and all the SAPP right conscience members felt deeply hurt and angered.

Heard that he (Tan) trying to set up a new party together with Jimmy, Au, and Liew Yun Fah..planning to bring SAPP's 15 branches with him. Whether it's true or not doesn't matter. Such person does not deserve anything anyway...to hell with TAn!

  4. Tan? a total disgrace to the Sabah people.
Greedy? Yes, totally, DCM means $$$$$ to him. Said he will resign DCM within 24 hours..no way, he mana honour his words.

Au? You are a sucker, now that I know. Raymond sure will give you plenty of projects $$$$$

Jimmy? Political Sec to CM, financial controller of Musa's companies and banyak kayu balak. Never mind you, yours is very personal.

  5. If 'Kiah Su' Tan wanted to leave as stated in 2day's papers to form a new party with Liew Yun Fah, go ahead n BN will definitely accept your new party..... Kiah Su will not have to resign as DCM cum Infrastructure Minister since he is more interested in the positions than the interest of all Sabahans' rights !!!

But come the next elections, you are definitely doomed... what have you done for the people of Sabah ???

Talking about grassroots' interest... have you ever really care about them ???

Not chairing Sandakan Zone meetings for the past 5 years is proof of your other interests i.e. looting more Million$$$$ as a greedy DCM.

    Go to hell lah !!!!!!!

  7. Yes, Yong never uttered criticizing words in the press about his ungrateful deputy , even Au or Jimmy .... but this despicable, malicious n immoral animal has shown his true colours.

Maybe it is Karma on Yong.... but at the end of the day, FOREMOST WE MUST THINK OF AND FOR ALL SABAHANS' PREDICAMENT AND RIGHTS.

Luckily Au and Jimmy never criticized in the press or make cruel or malicious statements on Yong... they know and sympathise with SAPP. WISH THEM WELL in their future roles in BN.

He also resposible for the failure of Milk Scheme to The pupils for special school in Sabah. Imagine RM.10 per half litters for delivery awarded by Kiah Su to his Macai. Just wonder what brand of vacuum he is..

  9. 2,000 members left with Tan..I think it was an overstatement.

Blowed up figure which is not actual in real numbers.

Tan never helped other members other than his macais in Sandakan. He was known be the lateman Tan, who always comes to any meeting at least 30 minutes late.

The best I know about him is he is too selfish and "tidak peduli" attitude but very greedy!

  13. Raymond Tan forgot he was nothing, a nobody.. if not for YTL. I am not a SAPP supporter previously but to tell you frankly Raymond, there are thousands of Sabahans like me.... who was never a supporter of SAPP is now throwing our support for SAPP. The rakyat are fed up with all this "ball-licking" by our own so called leaders. Sampai bila bah mau mengampu nie..? Tiada maruah! This is not confrontational Raymond... but this our way of saying enough is enough! Cukup sudah bah! Sampai bila kita mau tunggu? We have been patient all this while and there are limits to everyone's patients. Can't you see Raymond.... Sabahans wants this to happen. Our previous "champion" is now a "ball-licker". So, i am absolutely sure that Sabahans will throw their weight in support of SAPP. PBS... UPKO... are you listening? It's written all over... it's plain to see... sia heran kanapa kamurang nda "rasa" kemahuan rakyat Sabah.

  15. Even if Tan kiasu remained in SAPP, he will be voted out in the next party elections.

He even will lose his deposit. What now he is trying is to get as much $$$ as he can, saving himself by remaining as DCM.

A DCM for Chinese? He doesn't even have my respect. What is he? If I meet him in person, I will give him a spit in the face!

Tan, you are definitely a shame to us, Chinese!

  16. This freaking Raymond Tan a shameless creature!

He is very sayang and also very scared of his daughter. I wonder how would his daughter feel if people confront her labeling his father "a running dog and traitor to Sabahan"?

He prolly has too much interest to loose, and the general Sabahan is just collateral damage to his greed. I do not think that he is that stupid to think that he still has a future during the next election. He has already got his DCM, probably the highest he can get. So, he'll grab all while he can before the next GE, the rest, belakang kira.

    Article from Sin Chew Daily:

All of a sudden, everyone seems to be acting against his usual nature, from silence to actively voicing out. Slowly, grassroots leaders who feel they can no longer put up with UMNO's arrogance, are beginning to make the calls of "leaving BN."
    ============================

From the beginning 45 years ago, MCA had been acting as the henchmen of UMNO and enforced UMNO’s strategy of ketuanan Melayu. MCA ministers’ primary function was to sanitize ketuanan Melayu to the international community and force the Chinese community to accept it with the threat of slaughter by Malay thugs. Frankly, I got so sickened by the betrayal and cowardice of the MCA that I called it the Marginalize the Chinese Association. Obviously MCA had betrayed their Chinese constituents. And the Chinese having been betrayed slapped down the MCA and repudiated them in the election last March by voting for DAP. Kudos to the Chinese for having the courage and wisdom to punish their traitorous representatives and showed that they will no longer tolerate betrayal.

Now that it has become clear that the Chinese people in Malaysia will not be blindly driven like sheep by the traitorous MCA, it has no choice but to reform itself to serve the Chinese constituents better. That is to say, MCA now realized that it is not their Malay masters who will send them to parliament but their Chinese constituents. Therefore, if any MCA member wants to return to the parliament after the next election he better demonstrate to his Chinese constituents that he deserves their trust. This is why so many MCA members are now speaking out and condemning the many unconscionable violations of the human rights of the Chinese by Malay racists as a way to demonstrate to the Chinese constituents that they have their best interests at heart.

But whatever the new mentality of the MCA might be, the mentality of the Malays are very much still the same. That is, for most Malays their perception of the Malaysian society is that the Malays are the owner of Malaysia and therefore the master race while the non-Malays are “guests” who are there at the sufferance of the Malays. Hence the Malays are firm believers of the dogma of ketuanan Melayu and their right to marginalize the Chinese and the other non-Malays. Given the Malays’ firm belief in the dogma of ketuanan Melayu, it is their belief that UMNO’s primary purpose is to maintain ketuanan Melayu and must not be dictated to by the other component parties of BN. Given this mentality of the Malays, it is simply not possible for MCA, Gerakan, MIC, and other non-Malay parties within BN to persuade UMNO to give up ketuanan Melayu and abolish NEP and other racist policies. And since the Chinese voters would like to abolish ketuanan Malayu and NEP and since MCA and Gerakan and other Chinese component parties of BN cannot persuade UMNO to abolish them, the only logical choice for MCA, Gerakan, and other Chinese component parties of BN is to get out of BN and join PR. This is the only logical solution.

People can talk and talk, but the reality is quite simple and clear. The only way to get rid of ketuanan Melayu and NEP is by overthrowing the UMNO-BN government and establishing a new government under PR which is dedicated to equality and justice. Therefore, MCA, Gerakan, and all other Chinese component parties of BN must immediately leave BN and join PR. There simply is no other way.

It is therefore not wise for Tan to be clinging to BN and continue to act as the henchman of UMNO when MCA and Gerakan members are speaking out about leaving BN. Tan may be having a bird in his hand right now. But as soon as the next parliament meeting is called, UMNO-BN government will fall and he will be out. So his decision to keep the bird in hand will turn out to be a foolish thing to do. He should have gone for the two birds in the bush which is not only the wise thing to do but the noble thing to do because it is in the best interests of the Chinese of whom he represents and for whose best interests he should fight. In the end Tan will lose his position, his friends in SAPP, and his constituents whom he has betrayed.

    ReplyDelete
  19. PR needs 30 seats to overthrow the UMNO-BN government. MCA has 15 seats while Gerakan has 3. If both convert to PR, then it needs only 12 more. If SAPP and UPKO with 6 seats convert to PR, then it needs only 6 more. If SUPP with 5 join PR, then that leaves 1. Zaid the former law minister had resigned his position and will probably join PR. And that will give PR the magic number to take over the government. Furthermore, it is most probable that Anwar has many UMNO MPs lined up to convert. Some other non-Malay natives will also convert. In the end, PR could very well end up with 2/3 majority.

If the ACA really wants to be seen to be serious and impartial in fighting corruption, perhaps they should starts paying some attention to Raymond and his mah-cais.

On second thought, maybe the ACA should just drop the idea simply because Raymond can easily influence the PM to stop the ACA as revealed by him recently.

    *********************************

A heartfelt plea from a Malaysian
    Stephen Ng |
    Malaysiakini Sep 19, 08 5:14pm

    Dear Prime Minister,

In light of the spate of ISA arrests recently, I think it is time that the voice of the people is heard – at least, in the name of justice and sanity – and for the sake of preserving peace, good race relations and national security.
    MCPX

Please take this in good faith, coming from a young and innocent boy who once gave you a surprise bear hug nearly 30 years ago at a career guidance camp in Sungai Besi. You had just become the Federal Territory minister then, and I was receiving a certificate of appreciation from you. Since then, I’ve been your avid supporter, hopeful that you would introduce reforms to the country that would benefit the people.

I feel strongly the urge, along with my countrymen, to rally my support behind Malaysia’s first ISA female MP detainee, Teresa Kok.

Kok, a people’s representative, was alleged to have stirred up ill-feelings against the Muslim community. Only until now, she has never lodged a police report against her accusers for making false accusations, choosing instead to explain her side of the story in her blog.

Having monitored the situation online at nearly an hourly basis by examining the various reports as well as Kok’s own blog, allow me to express my sincere opinion as a rakyat. Let truth prevail at the end of the day.

If Kok has incited one community against another to the point that they take up arms, I would agree that she be detained under ISA. However, Kok’s detention was based on some mere allegations, which she has denied vehemently.

One cannot help but ask whether the police took the trouble to get a statement from Kok herself before the arrest. What is it that Kok has done that threatened national security, to justify police action against her and arresting her using the draconian law?

In fact, a particular police report has also been lodged by the secretary of the three-week-old mosque in Kota Damansara against Kok’s accuser, Khir Toyo for making allegations that Kok had applied petition to stop the azan. Khir’s allegations, also in a public domain, are not only baseless but malicious in nature.

Kok has also lodged a similar police report against Khir, Utusan Melayu and its columnist Zaini Hassan for criminal defamation over the azan issue. As an ordinary citizen, I wonder why both Zaini and Khir were also not immediately arrested under the ISA.

In a country where there are laws, it is difficult to understand why the accuser in this case is allowed to go scot free. Like in the case of Tan Hoon Cheng who was arrested for reporting remarks by Bukit Bendera Umno division chairman, Ahmad Ismail, why was Tan detained for 18 hours whereas a defiant Ahmad remains untouched?

Even in Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice, the accuser Shylock who demanded for a pound of Antonio’s flesh, had to finally pay the price for being malicious.

The basis of Kok’s detention under the ISA was uncalled for, especially when she could have been first summoned by the police to give her statement over the allegation. Investigating the truth does not require the use of the country’s most intimidating laws.

Although she has been released, her detention and that of popular blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin do no favours to the country’s already battered image. I cannot help but wonder where we are heading as a nation. Are we a progressive society where we are free to speak the truth or are we a backward society, repressed and shackled from speaking our minds?

I believe you can control a vocal few, but it is the silent majority that is to be feared most. The political tsunami we witnessed last March was a good lesson to the government. It was the result of injustices for many decades.

I appeal to your good sense, prime minister, to please release all political dissidents and bloggers who are detained under the draconian ISA and to please put a stop to the use of intimidation tactics by the authorities against civilians, bloggers, people’s representatives and members of the media. Instead, focus the powers of the police in controlling violent crimes and reducing the high crime rate in the country.

Lastly, I would like to conclude by saying that if the ISA is not abolished soon, the rakyat’s resentment towards your administration will only increase.

I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT MANY MALAYS READ MALAY NESPAPERS BECAUSE THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE IS LIMITED (BASE ON CALLS BY UMNO LEADERS REQUESTING THAT MATHS AND SCIENCE BE TAUGHT IN MALAYS). RECENTLY OUT OF CURIOSITY, I READ A FEW ISSUES OF UTUSAN MELAYU AND TO MY HORROR MOST OF THE NEWS ARE AGAINST RACE RELATION IN NATURE. ARTICLES OF ONE RACE AND RELIGION ALLEGEDLY CRITICISED BY ANOTHER RACE IS WIDELY HIGHLIGHTED IN THIS NEWSPAPER. THE ALLEGATION IS MOSTLY UNFOUNDED AND ONLY BASED ON HEARSAY OR COMMENTS BY SOME UMNO SORE LOSERS OR TROUBLE MAKERS IN THE LIKE OF AHMAD ISMAIL AND KHIR TOYOL. WHATEVER AMOUNT UNITY PROGRAMS OR RACE RELATIONS PROGRAMS OR ACTS WILL JUST GO TO WASTE IF UTUSAN MELAYU IS ALLOWED TO FREELY PRINT THESE ARTICLES WITHOUT ANY REPREHENSION. I SINCERELY HOPE UTUSAN MELAYU SHOULD BE SEVERELY REPRIMANDED FOR ALL THE BAD REPORTING IF THE GOVT IS SERIOUS ABOUT A UNITED MALAYSIA.

  25. This is a clear case of acute amnesia of the highest syndrome, and someone should seriously have this guy committed into a mental institution. This is my opinion, and I strongly feel we should henceforth discontinue anymore comment on a person who only has self interest above everything else.

On another note,I wish to share an experience with everyone.I spent half a day[Sunday],without my family[something I don't normally do on a Sunday]in Nabawan. This was my first visit, and I was there to witness new members into PKR.

It was a most inspiring visit,as I got the chance to mingle and spoke to the kampong folks. It's mind boggling and I was dumbfounded to learn that Nabawan is the 2nd poorest town in Malaysia.

The people were so warmed and truly spoke from their heart.Raymond Tan should spent a month there and will learn to be grateful, honest and conscientious.

What in God's name has the previous ADUN and MP done to lift the standard of livelihood for these people in Nabawan? The people of Persiangan have been hoodwink of the highest degree, and I would dare say, that BN days here is a fore gone conclusion.

I left Nabawan with fond memories, and pledge to return in full strength to support the PKR candidate in the coming by-election to ensure that victory for the people will be fully justified.

    Cheers...

A spoon-fed politician (mana dapat cari), unbelieveable yet true, and that is what he repay his boss....a slap in the face.

  34. The war of attrition continues over the sudden withdrawal of Sabah Progressive Party (Sapp) from Barisan Nasional last week as a “shocking revelation” came to light.

Its disgruntled ex-deputy president Raymond Tan (left) claimed on Saturday that he had been instrumental in preventing the arrest of party president Yong Teck Lee in June in relation to allegations of corruption.

An English-language daily in Sabah quoted Tan as saying that Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had wanted Yong arrested by the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA). This was after Yong spearheaded a no-confidence vote against Abdullah’s leadership.

In defending himself against claims of ingratitude by failing to support the Sapp pullout, Tan revealed that he had intervened on Yong’s behalf in June.

He said he had pleaded with Abdullah not to arrest Yong as it would be a bad move, and had even gone on television with a plea to allow the latter to speak up.

In an immediate response, Sapp newly-appointed information chief Chong Pit Fah described this as a “a shocking revelation [...] that he can influence the prime minister to stop ACA action”.

“This is an admission by a BN deputy chief minister that the prime minister can interfere with ACA work,” Chong said in a statement issued yesterday.

He also wanted to know if the same influence could be used on other persons such as serving ministers, or similarly abused.

Chong explained that the Sapp boss had volunteered in June to give a statement to the ACA but that the agency had not contacted him.

I just would like to take this opportunity to thank SAPP supreme council for having the guts to stick to principals. I don't care what Yong or others did in the past as some commentators here but i believe that only our present actions can affect our future so THANK YOU for SAPP for being the pioneer in realizing Bangsa Malaysia Concept.

  43. Equality and justice under PR the only way for KDM to be really rich.

Below is a quote from an article by John Malott. Malaysia is at an important turning point. For too long Malaysia is a reign of terror where people are suppressed by threats of arrests by ISA and the denial of economic opportunities or harassment by the government that threaten to drive any man out of his business. The UMNO maintained its dominance by means of fomenting racial hatred between the Malays and other races. And any Chinese who dared to demand equal rights under the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights were arrested for fomenting racial hatred. Many opposition leaders such as Lim Kit Siang, the Hindraf 5, and more recently RPK and Teresa Kok have all been arrested by ISA.

I hope people in Sabah will reject the reign of terror of UMNO and support PR for a new era of equality and justice. Only when all races are equal will corruption be eradicated and the economy develop rapidly. Special rights won't make the KDM rich. Only a robut economy that provides hundreds of thousands of high paying jobs will make the KDM rich enough to afford cars, houses, wide screen HD TV, etc. Vote for equality and make yourself rich!
    ============================
Malaysia is at its most important turning point, says John Malott

    September 21, 2008 (via e-mail)

    By John Malott*

Today Malaysia is at the most important turning point in its history. Ironically, the man who has the opportunity to decide which way Malaysia will go is the man who has been considered an ineffective if not a failed leader – Abdullah Badawi.

Tan Sri Ramon Navaratnam said it best in an interview with Malaysiakini:http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/90022)” If Abdullah lets the democratic process take place and does not stifle the country with arrests and emergency rule, it will be his finest hour, and he will go down in history as the man who liberalised the democratic system in Malaysia. But if he reneges on his word to not invoke the ISA, then he would only be digging his own grave”, Ramon said.

Although the attention of the world has turned to the financial crisis in the United States, interest in Malaysia has never been higher. The world is watching. Malaysia can redeem itself in the eyes of the world – or it can become an international pariah – all within the space of the next few weeks.

Ten years ago few people dared to speak up. But this time the people are not afraid. They know what is going on in their country, and now they want the right to decide their own future.

  46. I just want to congratulation on the recent pull-out of SAPP from BN. I sincerely hope that SAPP will participate in the broader struggle with the rest of Malaysian, to unite all races and bring hope to every souls.

The recent behavior of Deputy President Datuk Raymond Tan shows that he is not a strategist who SAPP can depend on. His vision is individual and non-collective. His personal struggle will be in vain.

Politic is not an individual struggle. To advocate change, we need strong collective of voices. Datuk Raymond Tan do not understand the political play. Altouhght his intention to remain in the cabinet may be "good", but by going against the party's collective (majority) view he has demonstrated his shallow view of political struggle.

We need to move on. Take this step with PR and hope for a better Sabah and Malaysia.

    Article from Sin Chew Daily:

RPK to be jailed for 2 years.

KUALA LUMPUR: A lawyer says a prominent Malaysian political blogger has been jailed for two years under a strict security law.
Lawyer and opposition politician Gobind Singh Deo says the Home Ministry has signed an order that online commentator Raja Petra Raja Kamarudin should be held for two years in Kamunting detention center.

Gobind was informed of this Tuesday (23 Sept) by Raja Petra's lawyer, Malik Imtiaz Sarwar. Gobind and Malik work closely together on human rights cases.

Malik could not immediately be reached.

Raja Petra was detained on 12 Sept under the Internal Security Act, which allows an initial detention of two months for investigation followed by two years incarceration. The period can be extended indefinitely on the government's discretion. (AP)

People must sign the petition to release Raja Petra Kamarudin. He is a champion of equality and justice. He must be released for that democracy can be established in Malaysia. Otherwise nobody in Malaysia is safe from the terror of ISA. Please go to the following link to sign the petition:

Tenom: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Vice President Datuk Frankie Chong is morally obliged to vacate the Deputy Speaker post after his party left the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition.

Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Melalap Secretary, Simon Mamat, said Chong's position as Deputy Speaker was no longer relevant since SAPP is no longer part of the coalition.

"The matter is not about the constitution but more a moral obligation and convention that Frankie Chong must vacate the post," he said in a statement, Monday.

According to Mamat, Chong could not be "amphibious and live in two different sets of environment".

"If he is really fighting for the SAPP's political idealism through the opposition then he should no longer be in the Government's side," he said.

Investigate whether Pak Lah interfered in probe, ACA told

    Malaysiakini Sep 23, 08 6:20pm

PKR Youth has urged the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) to investigate a Barisan Nasional leader's claim that Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had allegedly intervened in a corruption probe.

The claim was made by disgruntled ex-Sabah Progressive Party(Sapp) deputy chief Raymond Tan who claimed that he stopped Abdullah from arresting party president Yong Teck Lee in June.

An English-language daily in Sabah quoted Tan, who is also the state deputy chief minister, on Saturday as saying that the premier wanted ACA to arrest Yong after the Sapp president spearheaded a no-confidence vote against the premier.

Tan made the revelation when he defended himself against claims of ingratitude by failing to support the Sapp pullout. Tan then claimed he had pleaded to Abdullah not to arrest Yong.

Tan and Yong have fallen out after the former disagreed with the party’s move to quit the BN coalition.

    'Contradicts his pledge'

In a statement today, PKR Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin urged the ACA to step in and launch a probe into Tan’s revelation, which he described as “shocking”.

“Abdullah has said repeatedly prior to this that he never interfered in the investigation of any enforcement agency and it was his effort to make them free from the executive’s interference,” he said.

“(If the claim is true), it is not impossible to understand why hundreds of our complaints sent to the ACA were thrown into the rubbish bin although they came with solid evidence while whatever case that involves Pakatan Rakyat, the ACA will take immediate action,” he added.

The PKR politician said the claim, if true, would contradict Abdullah’s pledge to be committed in fighting graft and would prove the public perception of executive interference in such matters.

Shamsul also called on Abdullah to issue an explanation on the matter.

While many rejected them, some who are closer to them joined them for the sake of friendship and NOT their 'cause'.

I would suggest they go and invite non-SAPP members instead of trying their dirty tactics pinching and enticing SAPP members (especially our Muslim and KDM members) to leave the beloved party.

Such shameless people will meet their destiny when come Elections!

    God Bless SAPP!

    Quote from Sin Chew Daily:

They (Najib’s supporters) argue that unless Abdullah hands over the reins of power quickly, Umno is likely to be booted from power by Anwar's opposition alliance, which is threatening to eject the government by securing a majority in Parliament through defections from the ruling coalition.

They insist that Najib will be able to consolidate the various factions in Umno and renew the party's dominance in the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. The coalition is showing signs of cracks because of differences over race and religion among its ethnic-based component parties.
    ---------------------------------------------------------
No UMNO leader can rule through racist fear.

How can Najib renew UMNO’s dominance? The reason Badawi failed is due to the disgust of the Chinese, the Indians, and other non-Malays over the continued marginalization that has lasted for more than 45 years. Many fair-minded Malays are also disgusted with the thuggish marginalization of the minorities. Can Najib implement policies that would institute equality and justice? Obviously not. It is equally clear that the supporters of Najib think that the way to restore the dominance of the UMNO is by using terrorist tactics of siccing the ISA on the opposition. But the arrests of Teresa Kok, Tan Hoon Cheng, and Raja Petra Kamarudin have already stirred up international condemnations from all the civilized world and within Malaysia. Even the Law Minister Zaid was so disgusted with this mindless terrorist tactic that he resigned his post. Therefore, is it likely that Najib could use the ISA and ASA to terrorize the opposition into submission? It is obvious the answer is a resounding NO!

The threat of arresting opposition and detaining them indefinitely no longer strike fear into the heart of the Malaysian people. It only makes them angry. The anger of the people over the arrest of the 3 is very clear. If Najib is so stupid as not to understand this sea change in the mentality of the Malaysian people, then he will only push more of the people into the arms of the opposition and give Anwar and PR an even bigger majority when they take over the government. PR might even end up with more than 2/3 majority. Then the new PR government could abolish NEP and all the iniquitous quotas without the help of UMNO and other BN remnants.

The winds of change is now blowing away from racist dictatorship to a more racially equitable relationship. Those who cannot promote this new desire of the people will be blown away by this wind of change. In the end, Najib cannot stand against this wind of change if he wants to maintain the old iniquitous racist dominance. Nor can the racist UMNO be able to stand against this wind of change by using the ISA, the police, and the Malay Regiments to terrorize and to suppress the opposition. The majority of the Malaysian people will not permit it. The international community will not permit it. In the end, no matter who assumed the presidency of UMNO, it has to make peace with the Malaysian people to usher in a new age of genuine equality and racial harmony. Otherwise, all racist bigots will simply be blown away by the new will of the people. And since UMNO’s agenda is still the maintenance of racist domination, nobody can perpetrate that task.

In the end, UMNO is headed to oblivion. It will simply disintegrate after he loses the government. The members will split into three parts. One part will join the opposition and be incorporated into PKR. One part will organize a new party with the aim of attracting support through implementing the wishes of the people which is a harmonious and equitable society. It will act as watchdog over the PR government to make sure that the wishes of the people are implemented. The last part will be comprised of the old diehard racists who want to regain the old dominance of the Malays supremacy. But these will be like the neo-Nazis in the US. Ultimately they will become the laughing stock of the modernized Malaysian people who understand the values of equality and justice and the need of them for the growth and development of a robust economy on which the people depend for a high standard of living that they deserve.

In the final analysis, UMNO is doomed in its goal of political dominance through racist terrorization. No matter who is the head of UMNO, he can no longer rule Malaysia through fear. Therefore, UMNO is doomed.

The same sentiment was expressed by some Government officials before the 12nd General Election. But it fizzled out soon thereafter and it resurfaced again a few weeks ago. I hope this time PM Badawi is serious about it, and appointed staff are really independent from interference ws well as refrain from fabrication of evidence.

In all his years as a YB and a member of the sabah cabinet, datuk raymond tan has never said anything substantive. he likes to think and portray himself as a leader by virtue of his good fortune of being at the right place at the right time. but who does he lead? what does he represent in terms of sabah rights, illegal immigrants, chinese education, regional development imbalance, oil royalties, etc etc. raymond is the master of neutraility. then suddenly he dropped a bombshell (trouble is he was too naive to know it was explosive!) when he was desperate to claim some credit for the non-prosecution of yong teck lee. how cheap can a politician get?

raymond tan has an influence over badawi? are you joking? if raymond was that close to the PM, what has he been doing about all the grouses brought up by his former party, SAPP? Or, am I supposed to think that he only used his proximity to the PM for his own personal interest.

raymond is one the most aloof YB's i ever had the misfortune to know. he always came late for functions, and left early. he never answer calls to his handphone, nor did he ever responded to emails.

someone told me raymond tan was going to lead a new party. good luck to him, and good luck to those who follow him. raymond represents nothing but himself. he's a kucingkurap who became a DCM because his mentor, yong, was foolish enough not to want for his own. i really wish he'd form a new party so that he'd come to appreciate the honeymoon he enjoyed with SAPP.

Yes, Raymond should be investigated. He's too wealthy for a kucingkurap YB.
