Government's limit to 10 SPM subjects an obscenity

Kota Kinabalu, May 30, 2009: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) president, Datuk Yong Teck Lee said that the decision by the BN government to limit students to take a maximum of only ten subjects in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examinations from next year onwards is an obscenity in public policy that must be removed immediately.

"Such an arbitrary decision upsets a lot of students who are already preparing to sit for more than ten subjects in the next year.

"We have no investigative power, only access to the books. So now, we are leaving it to the MACC and the Public Accounts Committee.

    Anifah flattered by Anwar’s suit

PUTRAJAYA: Foreign Minister Datuk Anifah Aman is flattered that Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has sued him for RM100mil.

Anifah said it showed that he was someone of influence, adding that he would have felt ashamed if he was sued for a small amount over an alleged libellous statement made in Washington.

“I have not had time to read the content of the suit or think of my next course of action. I also have bigger things to attend to now like the Asean-European Union meeting which I have just attended,” he told a press conference here yesterday.

Asked if he stood by his earlier statement that Anwar had offered him the Deputy Prime Minister’s post as an incentive to join Pakatan Rakyat, Anifah said it was up to the people to judge.

“An independent candidate in Penanti claimed that she was offered a large sum of money and a position and this is just a by-election that does not determine the leadership of the state or the Government. Now think if it had to do with the Government and you will have the answer,” he said.

  5. First it was reducing the passing mark in all school subjects, one wonders if it was meant to degrade the education system or was it meant to support "weak students".

"Government's limit to 10 SPM subjects an obscenity".I think President Theodore Roosevelt said it better,..."Behind the ostensible government sits enthroned an invisible government owing no allegiance and acknowledging no responsibility to the people".

When we have a Foreign Minister who befits the abilities of a Minister of Kampong Affairs, education in the country desperately needs an overhaul.Read more,http://advocateviews.blogspot.com
