Why skilled M'sians don't come home?

How can we expect some one like Maximus to oversee, provide or even improve the 'brain gain' programme to increase the number of researchers, scientists and engineers in the country when he can't even look after his own backyard, which is known to have the highest number of hardcore poor, unemployment, dropout from secondary schools, single mothers, Aids victims among young girls (most of who had once worked in the nigh spots in West Malaysia or, as part time sex workers in Kota Kinabalu).

  1. In the first place, the bright students are denied places in local universities to study the subjects of their choices. Then, the parents have to cough out large amount of their savings and some even sold their properties to finance their children to study overseas to pursue their interests. Once graduated overseas, why should they go back to serve in Msia when the pay is so low here as compared to overseas and they had spent so much studying overseas (RM 1/4 to RM1 million depending on the courses )? How many years do they have to work in Msia (10 years ?) just to cover the cost of studying overseas ? Whereas if they work overseas, this cost could easily be recovered within a few years .

It's a different story if the government gives them scholarships to study overseas, there is higher chance for them to come back here eventhough the pay here is low as they didn't incur any cost in the first place. But, it is common knowledge that only certain connected people can get scholarships eventhough they are not so gualified. Why bothered to come back when the government practices discrimination ? These bright students also have to think of their future generations who will be treated the same way.

If the government is sincere to improve the whole situation, it's so easy. They have to overhaul the whole system and mentality of the government servants which I do not think they want to change it.

  5. There is a saying, that charity starts at home,so Max is literally complying to this saying"his home".

Year in year out, elections after elections,we hear UMNO-BN politicians singing the same song, which has yet to cut an album "Hardcore Poor".But the irony of it all is,huge allocations has been put in place,so they claimed,to alleviate the status of the hardcore poor in the state. The question is,where has all these huge allocation gone to?Yes your guess is as good as mine, into the pockets of these political singers.

Majority of our skilled Malaysians refused to come home for 3 reasons;better remuneration and opportunities, better exposure and they don't have to live with the "kulit qualification requirement"as practice by the present government.

UMNO-BN politicians are like diapers, you need to change them often.

    Cheers....

Agreed ! How can Sabahan be contented with just listening to their songs ? Sabahan have to wake up and start to work hard starting with voting out BN in Pensiangan. Don't let them lull you all to sleep.

  7. Reasons for staying overseas:

    1. Meritocracy in getting jobs, promotions, scholarships etc.
    2. Better standard of living
    3. Better Security
    4. Better facilities - better hospitals, entertainment, transportations etc.

For the past decades, Msia which used to be on par with Spore and Korea has been losing out to them despite the fact that these countries do not have much natural resources.

Bashing of Spore in Msia is not making Spore worst but better than us. Shouldn't we feel small in front of them ?

  11. Simply for economic reasons, skilled malaysians get better pay sometime 2 to 3 times they get more than in malaysia.

If u or me have such income, do u think u want to come home?

For decades, our pay here has never much increased while cost of living increases a hell lot!

Malaysia has not achieved what other countries have...just look at your neighbour - Singapore.

  12. “Our slumping economic fortunes are traceable to the recession in our education quality, we are a nation at risk,” Anwar cautioned.

He saw as indivisible the link between educational quality and economic competitiveness.

“Our competitors in the region, once flailing in our wake, have caught up and are now ahead of us. We have lost our once frontal position in the region in commerce, industry, science and technological innovation,” said Anwar.

He described as “alarming” statistics recently collated by the Human Resources Ministry that found a rate of 70% unemployment among graduates of our public universities. He said this figure together with findings of 26% unemployment among graduates of private universities in Malaysia and 34% joblessness among graduates of foreign universities, especially from among Middle Eastern institutions, substantiated the perception of malady in educational quality.

Anwar equated the mediocrity percolating through our institutions of higher education.

I know a few people in my own circle of acquaintances alone, who do not actually deserved to pursue the higher education due to very poor academic results but managed to graduate whereas deserving students are forced to leave the country.

Devious men can try to plan and implement their wicked schemes but God will decide on the results.

    Merry Xmas to all.

  14. The Skilled Sabahans (>50 years) in overeseas most of them do not have credit BM in SPM. They wanted to learn but did not have the environment (no teacher) for them to learn BM. Without BM they were not able to get promotion. The Teachers and Goverment servants from Sabah had to look for their own lodging and orthers. I knew a Dentist came back to Sabah for three years because he was not able to stand his clerk to order him and disturb his work,so he went back to overseas.
If change a goverment, we do not know they will come back or not,we have a lot PH D. in overseas.

  15. As long as the LEGALISED discrimination still exist in Malaysia, the skilled worker comprise of mostly non malay (95%) will not come home.

Non malay in Malaysia treated as 2nd to 3rd class citizen and now WORST than the ILLEGAL MUSLIM IMMIGRANT but while the skilled worker enjoy the same priviledge with other country citizen after they got their PR.

So, tell me, What had our RACIST gomen got to offer to them?

Come back here to KowTow to the RACIST Ketuanan Melayu who know peanut in their profession?

  16. It is obvious that UMNO leaders who are reasonably intelligent people know that the fundamental problem of Malaysian economic underdevelopment is the marginalization of the Chinese and other non-natives. But UMNO cannot abolish ketuanan Melayu and NEP because then the majority of the racist Malays will abandon them and UMNO will break apart and lose control of the government. That will cause top UMNO leaders to lose their opportunities to amass billions of ringgits from the distribution of government projects to their cronies. So UMNO leaders continue to maintain ketuanan Melayu and NEP and amass as much money for themselves as possible while Malaysian economy sinks daily. I guess the philosophy of the UMNO leaders is get as rich as possible before Malaysian economy went totally down the toilet; and the hell with the welfare of the Malaysian people as long as they themselves got rich.
