SAPP for non-racial politics

Yong Teck Lee: "The land slide victory of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim augurs well for non-racial politics in Malaysia. The rejection of racial politics shown in the March general elections has been repeated resoundingly by the voters of Permatang Pauh of whom 69% are Malays."

The tsunami continues to sweep through the land. From the North to the South; from the West to the East! Sweep those arrogant bigots from the political scene and save our State and Country.

  6. In the end, it is as I’ve always said that Malays don’t need special privileges but a robust economy to make them wealthy. This is because special privileges have driven away the most intelligent and entrepreneurial segment of the society who are the non-Malays such as the Chinese and the Indians which caused brain drain and capital flight. Even Malays who are exceptionally intelligent find they can earn higher incomes by migrating to Singapore or other Western countries. And the special privileges ultimately only allowed a few well-connected Malays to become obscenely rich through government projects while causing the vast majority of the average Malays to be very poor due to the lack of high paying jobs. Therefore, in the end, the special privileges of the Malays doomed the vast majority of the Malays to poverty. Ironically, the Malays in the neighboring Singapore who enjoy no special rights are earning several times the incomes of their Malaysian cousins. This is clear proof that what the Malays need is not special privileges but a robust economy that can provide millions of high paying jobs.

I congratulate Anwar Ibrahim on his reelection and hope he will be able to form the new government to usher in a new era of equality and justice which will truly create a harmonious nation that will then laid the foundation for the advent of a prosperous society that is safe and orderly with dignity for all and where all can be proud to be call Malaysian and to call Malaysia home.

  7. Ironically, the special rights of the Malays ultimately doomed the vast majority of the Malays to poverty. This is a good lesson for the KDM to learn. The KDM also don't need special rights but a robust economy to make them rich. Therefore, the KDM peoples should work with the Chinese to get rid of the special rights for the natives. Let all peoples of Sabah work together to institute a genuinely equal society for the benefit of all peoples so that all can have the equal protection of the law that will allow them to have the equal opportunities to unleash their initiative and entrepreneurial creativity to make Sabah rich for all.

Special rights for some means injustice for others which ultimately creates disharmony and breeds corruption which leads to poverty and insecurity for all.

  8. What are the future for MCA, MIC, Gerakan, PBS, SUPP and the other minor parties in BN dominated by UMNO? The tripartile multi-racial PR Coalition albeit loosely is more acceptable to the people of Malaysia as heralded by the resounding victory of DSAI in yesterday's Permatang Pauh by-election. He'll show the way in the Parliament tomorrow.

  10. The people of Sabah are getting poorer each year because of corrupt UMNO leader. He makes it worse when he takes the money out of Sabah instead of spending it here for further development in Sabah.

  11. Malaysiakini.com has the story that ISP TMNet was under orders to block the DNS of Malaysia-Today.net on the basis that

It is being blocked because we found that some of the comments on the
website were insensitive, bordering on incitement, - Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) chief operating officer Mohamed Sharil Tarmizi quoted by Malaysiakini.

According to various blog sources, the original malaysia-today.net URL remains accessible only via ISPs Time, Jaring and Maxis (watch for those to go down soon).

Malaysia Today's Administrators have set up a blog on Livejournal to keep Malaysians updated in the event that MToday is hacked or blocked. Its administrator has posted this singular message:

As of 26th August 2008 @ 8.20PM, if you are having trouble accessing Malaysia-Today.net please use:-

More to be added soon. Help spread the word!

This will be a temporary site. TMNet Streamyx is blocking http://Malaysia-Today.net on their service-level. Please check back

"He did it again in his former constituency and making on his way to parliament."

How to “walk on a talk” when even not an elected MP? It’s too dreamy to talk outside the shield of a wall with closed door!

Really serious about to walk your prominent leader into parliament to voice your right? Then prove it to support him!

It is tiring to continue talking with no response outside the house. Voices will not be heard as not even being respected as 'son'now, what else? Let’s not keep talking but to walk prominent one into parliament in any constinuency in east coast.

It’s a timely challenge to walk in action for Sabah, isn't it a right way?

    -Malaysia Day is on 916-

  18. To MCA & Gerakan: The best way to teach UMNO a good lesson and to do justice to Chinese Malaysians is by pulling out from BN & join Pakatan Rakyat. Period.

MCA slams Umno leader's 'Chinese squatter' remark

    Andrew Ong
    Malaysiakini | Aug 28, 08 6:28pm

MCA Youth today slammed Umno division chief Ahmad Ismail for allegedly making racist remarks against the minority community during the recent Permatang Pauh by-election campaign.

Ahmad, the Bukit Bendera Umno division head, had allegedly said Chinese were "squatters" in the country, who were both selfish and unjust, at a ceramah on Aug 24 whilst trying to buttress support for BN candidate Arif Shah Omar Shah in the by-election contest against opposition icon Anwar Ibrahim.

“Since independence, Malaysians have worked hard to stay together as one to build the country. But now, just days ahead of Merdeka celebrations, such comments are being made. We are very disappointed,” MCA Youth leader Hang Cheng Peng told reporters.

He demanded an immediate apology and explanation from Ahmad.

MCA Youth has submitted a letter yesterday demanding an open apology, retraction and a promise not to make similar statements in the future.

Meanwhile, Federal Territories MCA Youth today launched a signature campaign outside the MCA headquarters in Kuala Lumpur to condemn Ahmad, demanding that he be sacked from his party.

With two hours, the campaign attracted more than 200 signatures including those of Deputy Education Minister Dr Wee Ka Siong, former deputy home affairs minister Tan Chai Ho and former PJ Utara MP Chew Mei Fun.

A group of MCA Youth members who had gathered to support the campaign also chanted several slogans such as “Malaysia Boleh” and “Orang Cina rakyat Malaysia.”

    Narrow-minded extremists

Hang, director of the campaign as well as FT MCA Youth chief, said Ahmad’s comments had angered the Chinese community. He also said more signatures would be collected over the next two days before the petition is submitted to the Umno supreme council.

Speaking to Malaysiakini after inking his signature, Tan attributed Ahmad’s comments to extremism and narrow mindedness.

“Some, not all, people are very extreme and narrow minded. Instead of forging stronger relationships, they are splitting unity. I hope this is the last time we hear such things,” the former deputy home affairs minister said.

Wee later told a press conference that Ahmad’s “generalising and racist” comments had caused feelings of unease and anger.

“This has not only affected Barisan Nasional’s image, but it has also caused animosity towards the government,” he said.

Wee also warned that MCA Youth would “fight until the end” against any party which makes irresponsible statements in the future, including against other ethnic groups.

    Ahmad challenged to debate

In a strongly worded press statement issued today, Penang Gerakan Youth exco member Dr Thor Teong Gee urged BN deputy chairperson and Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to take action.

Thor said Najib, who was in charge of BN’s campaign in Permatang Pauh, must clarify if Umno shared Ahmad’s sentiments.

He also challenged Ahmad to a debate on whether the Chinese were truly squatters and also on matters of equality if the latter refused to retract his words.

In a separate press statement, another Penang Gerakan Youth leader Khaw Veon Szu said Ahmad’s actions proved that certain BN leaders had not learnt from the coalition’s electoral setbacks during the March 8 general election.

“They have shown no remorse and are unwilling to change their bad traits,” Khaw said, adding that any attempts to win back support for BN would be futile until this was addressed.

Leaders from opposition alliance Pakatan Rakyat too condemned Ahmad.

Tanjung DAP division deputy chief Ng Wei Aik said Ahmad’s statement bordered on calling the Chinese community “parasites.”
“Despite the Merdeka celebration being themed ‘Unity, the core of success’, Ahmad’s statement does not do anything to foster unity but instead weaken it,” Ng said in a statement.

He threatened to lodge a police report against Ahmad for stoking racial hatred if the latter did not apologise.

He even went to the extend of praising Datuk Tan Shu Kiat , SAPP Deputy President / Sabah Deputy Chief Minister .
Yaya hoo Sing wants Datuk Yong to learn from Tan .

Learn from Tan about what ????

Yaya Hoo Sing said Datuk Yong should learn from Tan about how Tan has shown exemplary character as " A True Blue BN leader by continously & consistently giving undivided support to the BN leaders "

One thing I m sure Yaya Hoo Sing should learn that Musa Aman is his BOSS , he should learn anything from CM Musa Aman , like wise Datuk Yong is the SAPP BOSS , he appointed Tan to stand in Tg Papat as YB . So Tan has won . Without Datuk Yong where is Tan come from ???

So Yaya Hoo Sing , withiut CM Musa Aman , where are u ???

Then please tell me Yaya Hoo Sing who should learn from who then ??

Can we suggesting CM Musa Aman should learn from u as well ???

So Zoonkers , next time pls do not even read Yaya Hoo Sing ststement , rather u spend some time to read more how & why Anwar won in the recent by election with a colourful victory , Why ??

Once u got the answer , pls do not forget to tell Yaya Hoo Song ,

  21. KEPALA BATAS: Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will personally see to it that Bukit Bendera Umno chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail does not repeat his remarks about the Chinese community.

“I will tell him not to do it again. You know in a campaign all sorts of things can come up. I don’t think he meant it. I’ll make sure to tell him not to use it again,” the Prime Minister said after chairing the Bertam Umno division meeting yesterday.

Ahmad had allegedly called the Chinese pendatang (immigrants) and was also reported to have said that “as the Chinese were only immigrants it was impossible to achieve equal rights amongst races” during a ceramah in Permatang Pauh in Aug 25.

Badawi, don't talk on behalf of Ahmad, just ask him to apologize for his racist remarks or face displinary action. such person should not be a leader, shallow and narrow minded SOB!

  22. Gerakan wants stern action against Ahmad Ismail over 'seditious' remarks

KUALA LUMPUR, Sun: 31 August 2008
Gerakan, a component of the Barisan Nasional (BN), has called for stern action against Bukit Bendera Umno division head Datuk Ahmad Ismail over his recent “seditious” remarks on the Chinese community.
During a ceramah in Permatang Pauh on Aug 25, Ahmad was alleged to have said the Chinese were mere squatters or temporary residents of the nation and therefore, it was impossible to achieve equal rights amongst races in the country.

“Many Malaysians are disappointed with the mild statement by Prime Minister and Umno president Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi when commenting on the seditious statement by Datuk Ahmad Ismail.

“They (Malaysians) had expected a strong rebuke, especially on Aug 31, a day all Malaysians celebrated the country’s independence.

“After 51 years of independence, any further doubt of loyalty of any Malaysian of any ethnic origin and the questioning of citizenship is beyond the understanding of all Malaysians,” Gerakan secretary-general Datuk Seri Chia Kwang Chye said in a statement today.

In the run-up to the Permatang Pauh parliamentary by-election last week, Ahmad allegedly made the remarks and yesterday, Abdullah commented on it when he said he would “tell him (Ahmad) not to do it again.

“You know, in a campaign all sorts of things can come up. I don’t think he meant it. I will make sure to tell him not to use it again,” Abdullah had said yesterday.

Chia said Ahmad’s statement was outdated and racially provocative, adding that any sign of the Barisan Nasional tolerating any outrightly racist and provocative views would give the wrong signal to the people.

“Ahmad Ismail should not only retract what he uttered and also apologise to all Malaysians but also be disciplined so as to prevent such divisive statement or action from being repeated. Such archiac views can further divide a multi-ethnic country like Malaysia,” he added.

Meanwhile, Gerakan vice-president Datuk Dr Teng Hock Nan, in another statement, urged the UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership to review its stance against Ahmad.

He called on the police to investigate the matter as the MCA and Gerakan Youth had lodged a police report against Ahmad. — BERNAMA

  23. This was the Roman Catholic Church 2008 National Day Message!

As Catholics we rejoice with all Malaysian citizens as we celebrate our 51st anniversary of national freedom with joy tempered with sadness at recent events. Joy, because we have attained a certain maturity with greater freedom of speech and expression for a new era of democracy. Sadness, because there are some who frustrate the march to higher levels of freedom, of truth, of justice and peace.

They always remind us about "multi-racial & multi-religious" practice & live in harmony.
After 51 years, is a joy to know Sarawak & North Borneo (now Sabah) has made clear stand on declaration of independence on 31st August 1963 but joining as partners with Malaya to form Malaysia on 16th September 1963. Singapore too but pulled out on 9th August 1965 to be an independent republic!
What made of becoming a religious issue as religions be it in the never belong to a single race! It shall be noted a muslim may not necessary be a malay and can't one really be more optimistic about it.
Act of individual behaviour surely cannot be blamed on any good religion but indeed more on its cultural revolution.
Never poison any sabahan with this mindset as we are serious in practising good harmony for more than decade.
