PM: No fuel price reduction before Sept 1

The prime minister had announced on Aug 1 that beginning Sept 1 the retail price of petrol will be streamlined and based on the average monthly market price of world crude oil with the government maintaining the subsidy rate at 30 sen per litre.

What happen to oil royalty for Sabah? Did Petronas explain why subsidy arises?

So who actually benefitted from this subsidy payout scheme?
If the amount is in the neighbourhood of RM 1 billion, then long term deposit with a commercial bank, Pos Malaysia or indirectly, ECM Libra would have made RM 39 million per annum or RM 106, 849.32 daily.

That is not including the management or services fee that Pos Malaysia charges the Government for this service. If the charge is just 1.0% of the amount, it means Pos Malaysia would have made RM 50 million per annum free income without incurring significant operations cost. If the pay out amount for the year is in multiples of RM 1 billion, then the profits will be realised will be on the same proportion.

That is definitely a great business model for the owners of ECM Libra, which include Riong Kali and Khairy Jamaluddin, two of PM 'Flip-Flop' Abdullah's closest advisers! related stories...the people's sufferings

  5. Ignore, ignore and continue to ignore. The Prime Minister increase the fuel price then later announced that beginning Sept 1, price of petrol will be streamlined. This is only a show BN is trying to put. Or perhaps the BN trying to put their luck on the line to convince the people in Permatang Pauh that BN candidate Datuk Arif Shah Omar Shah is the right Man for the people.
Where is the 20 % loyalty to Sabah? Why only promise to reduce oil price but when the By-election is near?
What about SAPP request for the oil loyalty?
Ignore, ignore and continue to ignore. A tagline for the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

Malaysia too have Minister Mentor or rather Mentors but read what mentoring all about and lead in what direction for its future generation in progress and development!
    So what say you?

We should thank LKY for his mentoring reminding us instead of getting angry over him.

  10. This is the problem with the Umno-led BN government - always think that the people are stupid when they (Umno/BN) are in actual fact not that smart.

Why can't the PM reveal the rate of the imminent fuel reduction now if he was really sincere about it?

The catch/stake is - the Permatang Pauh by-election.

BN just can't afford to reduce the fuel price now when it needs all the money that it could get, from whatever sources there are, to fight against Anwar in the coming by-election.

This is also the same reason why the BN-led government reneged on its election promise prior to the March 8 general election that, there won't be any fuel price increase this year. Simple answer - BN just needed to replenish its funds for billions of Ringgit spent during the election campaign.

And the other reason is probably because after loosing the 2/3 majority and five states to the opposition, the Umno-led BN government realised that their days are probably numbered hence, are now going all out to siphon whatever public money/state assets they could lay their hands on.

One good example was the payment of the RM625 fuel rebate to motorists through the Pos Malaysia Bhd. We really do not know how much money are going to be siphoned off through this flawed and dubious scheme.

After almost five decades of blatant lies, fraud and oppression by the BN ruling coalition, the people of Malaysia had awaken on last March 8 and are now fighting harder - for a better future for their country, their family, their children and their future generation.

Dear fellow Sabahans, if we love our country, our family and our children, then we must give our full support to leaders like Anwar Ibrahim, Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng and Yong Teck Lee, for change of regime for a better future for this country.

To people like Pairin, Dr Max, Dr Yee, Chin Teck Meng, Raden Malleh, Johnny Mositun, Kurap, Chong Kah Kiat, VK Liew, Teo Chee Kang, Raymond Tan, Edward Khoo - go to hell!

  13. The problem with Malaysia now is that those in power dont know what they are doing. One day they say one thiong the other day they said another.

Things are done on "piece meal basis"

Let thing happen first or let people die first then do something about it.

SINGAPORE: The political problems faced by many countries in Asia are due to oney politics but the problem did not take root in Singapore because "We have a DIVISION ONE team in charge".

Yes he is right! Look at UMNO election. If you want to be a division chairman, you use money. When you win, you go higher. The higher you go, the better a chance to secure govt jobs at premiem price. You use that money as a "war chest" for the next election.

If you look at our general election, voters are paid RM10, RM20, RM50, RM100 ... You win as wakil rakyat.

Thus he said you put a Division Three Team! So what do you expect from a Division Three Government?

YOU GIVE PEANUTS AND YOU GET MONKEYS! Thats right you have clowns running the country like UMNO.

Dont ever again allow UMNO to lead us again, Please.

Herald Has Been Publishing Other Than Religious Issues, Says Dompok

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 15 (Bernama) -- Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Tan Sri Bernard Dompok said Friday that the Catholic newsletter, Herald, has been writing about other things besides religious issues from time to time.

He said the newsletter had previously written about social and poverty issues as well as policy direction but had not raised any attention from the government before.

He was asked to comment on talk that the newsletter would be suspended for putting out an editorial on the Permatang Pauh by-election when its publishing licence was for religious publication.

"I was told that the article is meant to ask the people to pray for Malaysians who are voting in Permatang Pauh, and what decision they are going to make. I don't know the rest of the content so I think it will not be fair for me to comment," he told reporters after launching the Public Complaint Bureau's (BPA) website here.

Meanwhile, Dompok, who is also United Pasok Momogun Kadazandusun Organisation (Upko) president, said there is still hope that the federal government would raise the oil royalty for Sabah from three per cent to five per cent.

He said although the matter was brought up last June, no decision had been made so far.

Asked when he would again raise the matter, he said it was still early as it had not even be a year since the general election but there is still hope as the federal government so far has kept its word, especially in handling the illegal immigrants matter in Sabah.

"I certainly am still be very hopeful and that whatever request that have been sent to the prime minister regarding Sabah will be given due attention."

Asked to comment on Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's confidence to form a new government come ept 16, Dompok said: "I think we have to allow them to claim whatever they want. I think we know that it is something that is not possible. I just do not see the figures (on MPs jumping party)".

He said Upko would be very happy to help in Permatang Pauh by-election but it was up to Barisan Nasional (BN) on whether its help was needed.

  15. Based on US EIA provided data, 8th of Aug average price per barrel is USD 118.64 but Malaysia crude oil is USD 129.89. See! Malaysia crude oil is expensive than the rests.

Greenback is stronger so everyone suffer but only two industries were beneficiary, they are Petronas and Palm oil company. So reckoned on that, country earns a big profit within this month even subsidy is RM 0.30.

  16. I think petrol/diesel price will come down before Sept.1. Shahrir Samad mentioned on TV that the mechanism for price variation is ready. Only have to wait for PM to announce it.
If it happens, it will be good. But on the other hand, look's like it's because of PP by-election. Look like BN-Umno will do anything to stay in power.

  17. MAS profits fall 65% in second quarter

Malaysia Airlines profits for the second quarter plummetted 64.6 percent from a year earlier to RM40 million on surging fuel costs, the company said today.

MCPXIt said it managed to sustain profits for eight successive quarters "despite an extremely challenging business environment," and warned of "extremely challenging" times ahead.

"The perfect storm has landed, with the high price of oil taking a heavy toll on the industry. 25 airlines have declared bankruptcy while airlines in the region have declared massive losses or lower profits," CEO Idris Jala said in a statement.

"It's an extremely tough environment, and with overcapacity and global downturn, the situation is going to get even more challenging," he said.

For the six months to June 2008, net profit was down 35 percent to RM160 million ringgit while revenue was 7.0 percent higher at RM7.53 billion from RM7.03 billion a year ago.

    Hike in fuel charges

Jala said the airline was aggressively working at mitigating high fuel prices through its own pricing and other measures to ensure leaner operations and boost revenue.

It has already axed loss-making routes, hiked fuel charges by 25-80 percent on most routes, imposed a freeze on recruitment and launched a low-fare campaign to sell otherwise unsold seats.

"Such measures are proving to be effective, and I am pleased that we were able to make a net profit of 40 million ringgit in the most difficult business environment in the airline industry's history," Jala said.

The company said the business environment will likely remain challenging as fuel prices remained high, while passenger demand falls on a global economic downturn.

It posted an all-time record profit of RM851 million for the 2007 financial year, ending a series of disastrous losses.

Only a coal plant is good for Sabah. Bullsh....! We have gas, why not use it? Why go out and buy coal from Indonesia and China if we have our OWN gas? Why use a dirty technik if we have a more cleaner technic for a gas plant? Why becoming again dependent on something other countries dictating the prize? Who has open pockets for this deals? Not the Sabahans! Because they will lose out on Tousists! Good air quality, Walter quality and on the end power and electricity will go the same way like oil......we should use what is given for free....Sun! Waves and Wind!
