'Chua told not to swim with sharks'

Datuk Yong said(Kota Kinabalu, 9 July 2008)... Although Datuk Dr. Chua never mentioned the words to the effect that the proposed motion of no confidence had been "dropped" or "aborted", her comments were misinterpreted.

This latest twist makes me sad that our noble struggle has been damaged in the eyes of the people whose hopes for a better future rest with SAPP.

  1. As I said earlier.....its already too late. Your children and next generation will suffer....believe me or not lets wait and see!

Hah...Sultan of Sulu' issuing birth certificates to Filipinos in Sabah Darul Danoa? Datu Bung Mokhtar Radin is your first Menteri Besar rite.

KutuMahathir, Abdullah Badowi, Najis, Botakhamid...UMNO is laughing all the way...Orang Sabah Kadazan Murut China memang BODOH betul.

Lim Kit Siang (DAP-Ipoh Timur) and Hiew King Cheu (DAP-Kota Kinabalu) called for the authorities to investigate claims that a certain Sultan Muhammad Fuad Abdulla Kiram was issuing birth certificates to Filipinos in Sabah in his capacity as ‘Sultan of Sulu and Sultan of Sabah'.

Hiew said he had been given copies of the birth certificates by Sabahan bumiputeras. The ‘Sultan' also has a website dedicated to explaining the Sulu Sultanate's claims over Sabah, he added.

He pointed out that Malaysia is still paying the heirs to the Sulu Sultanate - to which there are about a dozen claimants in the Philippines - a yearly payment of US$1,500.

Lim said the discovery of the birth certificates raises questions of whether Malaysia's sovereignty and integrity was being challenged and urged for a full police investigation into the claims.

When met, Foreign Minister Syed Hamid dismissed the issue as only birth certificates issued by the National Registration Department are valid,

I didnt know that Sabahan Kadazan Murut and Chinese are damn stupid. In 1960s..their combine force were 70% of the porpulation, sadly now 2008 their combine force only 25%-30%.

  2. Kiram can kiss my ass. We are living in a "democratic" state.

The vote determines who governs Sabah. Not a self proclaimed sultan of sulu.

    Please sulu, don't dream lah!!!

  5. This is where we separate the deaf, dumb and blind politics with the die hard politics thats fights and stand for the people.

Greed, power and self interest among politicians is a never ending story. What was perceived as a beginning to a new frontier has somehow become catastrophically pathetic.

Will SAPP continue to stand tall with the support of the people or become History? We shall see...!!

    Cheers.

  6. Sapp,

Countless comments, countless press conferrences and countless meetings. What for ? so you can continue to fool Sabahans ? I am not sure if Sabahans are realising this but as far i a see it seems like a delay tactics by SAPP and BN.

Which side of the fence are you in ? One side you have BN and its millions while the other side you have poor and desperate Sabahan (Who seems to look up on your strugle) .It looks to me that you are on neither side but day by day slowly decending to where the money is.

70% down to 30 % while in peninsular its 40% to 60%. Becoming <10% minority is not going to going to take too long to achieve i guess. Statistics so to speak. :-). Where do you keep your brains ?

One day you open your history books and it will be written as the founder of Sabah and its rightful Aborigine are the Filipino malay muslims and the Indonesian malay muslim. Am i exaggerating ? Nay i don't think so because as you can see the statistic speaks for themselves.

I welcome the clarification of Datuk Chua .

Last sunday , Najib had said that politic is very very dirty .
Now I realise that it is not politic is dirty , but it is the politician ( People ) is dirty .

For example people like NAZRI had purposely twisted the statement of Datuk Chua to the press as planned by him without the knowledge of Datuk Chua .

No wonder in the next morning , SHE got all the shit from all Malaysian especially people from Sabah .

In the beginning , Datuk Chua thought she could SWIM with all the gold fish in the pool , never realise that all the gold fish , some turn out to be SHARKS .

As for the DCM of Raymond Tan , he has chosen to maintain with his POSITION in BN . He thought also ( very childish thinking like Datuk Chua ) he could swim with the Gold Fish in the pool , just wait & see , Datuk Raymond will end up like finally to swim with the SHARKS , by then it will be too late .

When the next General Election comes ,
you will see the people's choice , you will hear the people's voice ,

When the next General Election comes ,
    Sabahans will change -------
    From darkness into Light .

    From argony into Laughter
    From pain into Joy

    From colony into Autonomy

From father & son relationship into PARTNERSHIP

SAPP,teruskan usaha anda! Paling lama pun anda hanya perlu tunggu selama 4 tahun. Kami, rakyat akan membalas segala pengorbanan SAPP sehingga 10 kali ganda...

  10. RIPLEYS CSI and many Malaysians were shocked to read another racist card been played by BN silly leaders on household income survey in Malaysia.

The strong “Authoritarian Solution” by BN leaders to find a better way to discriminate and marginalise other minority races when the household income survey is carried out based on inter-racial difference in income but choose the ignore the disparity of income among the riches and the hardcore poor people in Malaysia , Sabah and Sarawak today.

The inequality of household income in Malaysia has nothing to do with races but it is a comparison between the rich communities, medium communities and poor communities. Therefore, it is very wrong for BN Ministers and BN MPs to classify the household income based on inter-racial differences in the survey conducted recently.

Well, BN is well known as a “RACIST” party in the world. Their BN members and leaders were dirty brain washed for past 50 years to think one way ticket only and to hit on racist issue and like to play racist card to inflict conflicts among the rakyat.

Malaysians have “enough is enough” to listen, to be played out and to witness BN MP and BN ADUN were voicing out racist remarks again against another minority races in Parliament and Assembly. BN MPs are very proud about their Ketuanan subject to victimise another minority races branded like 3rd class citizen or migrants to Malaysia.

Yes, these BN MPs and ADUNs have 4th class mentality in their minds and dont want to accept new changes in the globalised world.

Now the world people are borderless regardless of races, creeds, religions and cultures are challenging at very stiff competitions to enhance the standard of living in their nations. The world leaders today are upgrading their people per-capital income as well as to enrich the value of their currencies today.

Sad to know that BN leaders have yet to learn their lessons and failed to wake up till today. They should knew their racist party had loss badly in the 12th GE becaususe of their greeds, corrupts, pride, abused power and arrogant mentality. Sad to say that BN leaders and their members still talk about ineaquality in inter-racial matter in term of economic and financial standings. Why dont BN leaders compared “SUPER RICH” Malays against majority medium and hardcore poor Malays - a comparison of apple vs apple? How can BN compared Chinese vs Malay ( like apple with orange)? Both races have different style of livings and budgeting their household income. Their mentality of earnings and spending their income are very much different.

    For instance,

Chinese believed in working hard independently to earn more monies for a better living and develop good savings habits in their minds since childhood.

Malay believed in depending on “tongkat ali” from their Ketuanan leaders and pro-government to help them in loans, scholarships, contracts, employments and business assistances to earn more income for easy lifestyles and prefers to have lavish spending than savings in their mind since childhood.

Now majority Malays are educated and not easily deceived by BN leaders today. This is because many Malaysians regardless of race believed that BN leaders have failed badly in managing the wealth of the country. BN leaders should sit down and start listing their wrong doings for past 50 years and calculate the damages they have caused in the economy and financial well being in Malaysia.

A famous economist and a financial expert bravely said that our household income of RM1.00 earned in last year 2007 is almost equivalent to the purchasing power of RM0.30 in year 2008 because of great depreciation of ringgit currency against other forex currencies, huge prices hikes, huge inflation above 6% in half year 2008, devaluation of shares prices, stagflation in the economy, etc.

Lastly, Malaysians of all walks of life and regardless of races are becoming poorer each day and many corrupt politicians in BN are becoming richer laughing all the ways to the Banks.

Dont BN leaders felt ashamed to listen and see some Malaysians are selling their organs and blood soon to feed their families. Our BN leaders have failed the rakyat aspiration of Malaysia Boleh propaganda only.

We, Malaysians strongly opposed and against monitoring the inter-racial differences of income and it is irrelevant in Malaysia and should be removed from their BN crooked minds.

Now Sabahans know who is swimming with the Dolphins in Sabah, who is swimming with Sharks in Peninsular Malaysia ? BN is playing their inter racial differences in income is the most dirty tactic as an excuse to stir the rakyat feelings again.

(As I see, listen and read it. Write without FEAR and Favour, In GOD, We Trust )

    "蔡顺梅斥《星报》封面报道错误"
    =================================
    joe said:
    声明更指一名巫统资深领袖告知杨德利,若进步党继续推动不信任动议,将被视为一个华人政党企图对抗马来领导,尽管进步党是一个多元种族政党。

    Translation:
The clarification especially pointed out that one UMNO senior leader told Yong Tek Lee that if SAPP continued its no-confidence motion, then it will be regarded as a Chinese political party attempting to oppose the Malay leadership - even though SAPP is a multiracial party.
    ------------------------
The very fact that a senior UMNO leader dared to threaten YTL is a gross violation of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Where in UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights is it written that all races within any country must submit to the leadership of a single race? The truth is the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights specifically declared that all people are allowed to participate equally in the governance of a country.

    Article 21(1), 2 and 7 state:

    "Article 21.
    (1) Everyone has the right to take part in the government of his country, directly or through freely chosen representatives."

    "Article 2.
Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status."

    "Article 7.
All are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination to equal protection of the law. All are entitled to equal protection against any discrimination in violation of this Declaration and against any incitement to such discrimination."

From the above three articles it is obvious that all peoples of Malaysia regardless of race or national origin or religion have the equal right to participate in the governance of Malaysia. Malaysia is not an empire of the Malays such that only the Malays have the right to decide what policies to implement. It is heinous and loathsome that the Malays have come to acquire the mentality that they are the sole owners of Malaysia and that they have the right to intimidate other races into submitting to their tyranny.

Such gross violation of the letter and spirit of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights are heinous and loathsome. The leaders of SAPP and other political parties such as DAP must immediately communicate this gross violation of the letter and spirit of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights to the UN Secretary General and ask for his condemnation of this unacceptable violation of human rights.

The non-Malay Malaysian peoples should not accept such intimidation as if though the Malays have the right to force the other races to accept their tyranny based on the threat of bloody massacres or the dogma of ketuanan Melayu. Ketuanan Melayu is itself a gross and loathsome violation of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights and have no place in the civilized world.

Furthermore, the Malays are nothing more than a bunch of thugs who are only "brave" enough to terrorize defenceless peoples. Anybody who is willing to defend themselves can easily defeat them in an open war. The Malays had never fought the Japanese or the Brits. It was the Chinese who had fought them. And they fought with great courage and success. But the fruits of their fight were stolen by the Malays. Now it is time for the Chinese and the KDM to unite and fight a new war to liberate themselves from the Malay reign of terror for their own sake and for the sake of their children and grandchildren.

If the Malays are willing to share Malaysia equally with all other races according to UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, then there is still hope for Malaysia to be a harmonious place for all to live and prosper in. If not, then it is the rightful and courageous thing and the UN mandated thing for the Sabah peoples to take Sabah out of Malaysia and either be independent or join with Singapore for their own security and prosperity.

Below is an exerpt from the Preamble of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights:

"Whereas it is essential, if man is not to be compelled to have recourse, as a last resort, to rebellion against tyranny and oppression, that human rights should be protected by the rule of law,"

It is obvious that UN upholds the right of all peoples to rebel against tyranny and oppression as a last resort.

    ========================

I don't think any government can arrest the leader or even just ordinary individuals of another country. Though the US is a notable exception in its "arrest" of Manuel Noriega, the president of Panama, for drug trafficking. In the end, it is up to Malaysia whether it wants to and whether it has the military power to actually go to Philippines and snatch this Sulu person.

For all I care, why not? There is no law in that part of the world anyway. It is certainly unlawful for this guy to be issuing birth certificates to illegal immigrants to Sabah. Furthermore, such an act can be construed as an act of war that challenges the sovereignty of Sabah and Malaysia. And any nation has the right to respond when challenged by an act of war.

As to whether these sultans have the right to claim Sabah, it is just as facetious and nonsensical as for the heirs of the Qing or Ming or any prior dynasties of China to reclaim China as their private empire; or for the heir of Russia, if any left, to claim Russia as their personal empire.

Those days are long gone. But you cannot prevent anybody to make claims where there are a lot to be gained. After all, these people have nothing to lose and everything to gain. They can just sit in their houses and beat their drums and hope something can drop out of the sky and fall into their laps. But sensible people can just ignore them and see them as opportunists with no substantive rights. In other words, these are nothing more than grifters working a scam.

Tiba masa bersuara demi rakyat Sabah. Kenapa “show cause” untuk SAPP?
Disebaliknya, negeri Sabah yang bertanya “show cause” kepada pusat pimpinan sepatutnya! Tapi………apa kelemahan sekarang?

  15. Sulu Sultanate issuing birth certs to Filipinos?

Is it another ploy/conspiracy by the Federal Government to preserve the Status Quo in Sabah???

KUALA LUMPUR: The issuance of birth certificates by the Sultanate of Sulu to illegal immigrants from the Philippines in Sabah has raised the question of sovereignty of Malaysia and the state, said DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang.
    “How can this take place?
“It challenges the question of the sovereignty of Malaysia in Sabah and there is a disturbing implication in terms of long-term consequences because of the subsisting claim of the land in Sabah by the Filipinos," he said at the Parliament lobby Wednesday.
He said the issue was of great concern to the people in Sabah as the estimated number of illegal immigrants had exceeded the number of Sabahans.
“It makes Sabahans the strangers in their own land and this is why there is so much unhappiness among the people there,” he said.
He said there were about 100,000 to 140,000 illegal immigrants in Sabah in 1978 but the number had since risen to about 1.5 million.
Lim said he had made a copy of such a birth certificate and forwarded it to Deputy Home Minister Datuk Chor Chee Cheung. Lim said he hoped the Chor would make a ministerial statement in Parliament before the sitting adjourns on July 17.
Kota Kinabalu MP Dr Hiew King Cheu said it was believed that the birth certificates had been recently distributed to Filipinos who were either born in Sabah or illegally migrated to the state.
“We want to know the motive behind this act.
“We hope the Government can investigate the case and solve the issue of land claim once and for all,” he said.
Dr Hiew said he would lodge a police report on the case when he returned to Kota Kinabalu on Thursday.

  16. And this is what the federal government has been doing all this while. It unilaterally changes the terms of the agreement and forces the states to agree to these changes. If also forces the states to sign contracts that are one-sided and a breach of the Federation Agreement or the 20-point Agreement.

    THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

    Kedah approves logging activities
    By EMBUN MAJID, The Star

The Kedah Government has approved logging activities at the Pedu, Muda and Ahning dam catchment areas, a move that is expected to generate about RM16 billion in revenue for the state. Mentri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak said the move was necessary to cover the high expenditure incurred by the state following the petrol price increase.

He added that the state would call for tenders soon and award the logging contract to the highest bidder. “We will discuss the logging method to be used with the Forestry Department,” he told newsmen after chairing the state executive council meeting yesterday.

He added that the Federal Government had promised to pay an annual compensation of RM100 million in 2003 following the state’s decision to cancel its proposed heli-harvesting project to log timber in catchment areas. “However, until now the payment has not been made. We have also asked the Federal Government for financial assistance for the water supply to Penang and Perlis and for the rice we are producing for the country. Since the Government cannot assist us financially, we will carry on with the logging activities,” Azizan added.

    *************************************************

This is what happens when the federal government squeezes the opposition-led states and denies it the funding it requires. The federal government seems to forget that the granting of funds to the states should not be tied to which political party is running those states. The granting of funds to the states is a clause in the Federation Agreement.

At one time, the Malay states were independent and were known as the Straits Settlements, the Federated Malay States, or the Unfederated Malay States. Then they all agreed to merge into the Federation of Malaya. In doing so the states agreed to relinquish certain rights like national defence, security and foreign policy while they retained certain rights like land matters, natural resources and religion. Each state would then be given an annual grant plus loans for development, calculated based on the size of its population.

These were the terms agreed in the Federation Agreement and which was the basis for all the states to merge under the Federation of Malaya. And any first-year law student can tell you that an agreement made on the basis of mutual consent can no doubt be changed with the signing of a supplementary agreement, but must also be based on mutual consent. One party can’t unilaterally change the terms of the agreement without the consent of the other party. In the event one party violates the terms of the agreement, then the aggrieved party can either give notice for the termination of the agreement or sue for specific performance, with or without damages (unless there is a specific clause in the agreement that stipulates what happens when there is a breach -- like going for international arbitration, etc.).

Therefore, in this spirit, the federal government has no choice but to give the states grants and loans for development. If the federal government fails to do so then, for all intents and purposes, the federal government has violated the terms of the Federation. And the states will therefore also have no choice but to fend for themselves the best way they can -- which will include cutting down all the trees to turn them into much-needed cash with which to pay for the cost of running the states and to finance development.

Oil and gas is a state resource. Under the terms of the Federation Agreement, oil and gas, which is a state resource, belongs to the states, 100% (just like water, timber, tin, iron, gold, coal, etc.). However, in 1974, the federal government nationalised oil and gas and then forced all the 13 states to sign an agreement with Petronas -- whereby the newly created national oil company will become the owner of all the oil in gas and the states would just enjoy a 5% ‘commission’. Later, the states were forced to sign a supplementary agreement stating that the 5% ‘commission’ would be officially and legally called ‘royalty’.

The states really had no choice in the matter. This was not mutually agreed. What the federal government did was to pass a law in Parliament called the Petroleum Development Act 1974. By law, the states had to relinquish all rights over oil and gas and the federal government, through Petronas, took what belonged to the states ‘by force’. That not being enough, the federal government even violated the Petroleum Development Act plus also the agreement that the states were forced to sign with Petronas. In 2000, the federal government cancelled the 5% royalty due to Terengganu and handed it over to Umno to manage. And they also changed the name ‘royalty’ to ‘goodwill money’ -- which does not appear anywhere in the Petroleum Development Act or the agreement the states were forced to sign with Petronas.

Yes, the federal government has, time and time again, violated the terms of the Federation Agreement. And they violated it again in 1974 by nationalising a state resource -- oil and gas. And they violated it yet again in 2000 by cancelling the 5% royalty in spite of the 5% being morally wrong in the first place (but made legally right through an Act of Parliament). And now, after the 8 March 2008 general election, the federal government is up to its tricks again by denying the opposition-led states the funds it is legally obligated to give the states.

Sure, the states can’t send the federal government a notice of breach of agreement with 30 days notice to terminate the federation or to sue the federal government for specific performance and possibly for damages as well. But it can do the next best thing. The states still have land, water, timber, tin, gold, iron, coal, and much more. The jungles bordering Kedah, Perak and Kelantan are rich in resources, much of it explored but untouched since the beginning of time. The states can open up these lands and exploit whatever they can find there, timber included. The states have no choice but to do this. But what a great loss to the world when after some time not a single tree is left standing in this country and Malaysia eventually turns into a hot desert and Malaysia’s contribution to global warming will turn this world into a mess.

What will happen when there are no longer any trees in the catchment areas? Well, there will no longer be any rain and the dams will dry up. Then water will cost more than petrol like in Saudi Arabia. And this will happen because Umno wants to punish the opposition-led states by denying it funds although, when these states joined the Federation of Malaya in 1957, it was agreed that the states would receive funding and the agreement did not say that funding will be given only on condition that Umno rules these states.

Sabah too has been expressing its unhappiness all these many years but the grumblings of the Sabahans have fallen on deaf ears. But Sabahans no longer want to take any shit just like how the Sultan of Terengganu decided he too will no longer take any shit and he made this very clear by rejecting Umno’s choice of Menteri Besar. Now, Umno is going to return the 5% oil royalty it stole from Terengganu since 2000. But Terengganu does not want just the 2008 royalty. They want the royalty stolen since 2000, which comes to about RM7 billion, or RM8 billion with this year’s included.

Okay, if Umno does not want the eight Members of Parliament and 28 State Assemblymen from Terengganu to leave Barisan Nasional and become ‘independents’, then the federal government has to hand over RM8 billion this year. If not, then Terengganu Darul Ehsan will become the Independent Sultanate of Terengganu. The ball is at Umno’s feet.

Sabah too is pressing for the federal government to not only honour the Federation Agreement but the 20-point Agreement as well. Under the 20-point Agreement, Sabah is not one of the states of Malaysia equivalent to Kedah, Kelantan, Penang, Perak or Selangor. Sabah is equivalent to Malaya.

This is what Wikipedia has to say about the matter:

The 20-point Agreement was written for the main purpose of safeguarding the interests, rights, and the autonomy of the people of Sabah upon entering the Federation of Malaysia. It was originally envisaged that Sabah will be one of the four entities in the Federation, the others being Malaya, Singapore, and Sarawak. However, as times passed, Sabah and Sarawak ended up being merely one of the 13 states in the Federation.

Many do not understand this very important fact. Sabah is not a state as such. Sabah is of the same status as Malaya. Sabah lawyers can freely practice in Kuala Lumpur but Kuala Lumpur lawyers need permission to practice in Sabah. Sabahans can freely travel to West Malaysia but West Malaysians can be denied entry into Sabah (once upon a time West Malaysians needed to show their international passport before they could enter Sabah).

Is this unfair and smacks of double standards? This was what was agreed when Sabah teamed up with Malaya, Sarawak and Singapore to form Malaysia. Whether it is fair or not is not the issue. The issue is: this was what was agreed and if it is not fair then why agree to it? You can’t agree to something, fair or unfair, just to entice a state to join the Federation and then, after it has joined, you scream about the terms being unfair and unilaterally change the terms against the wishes of the other party.

And this is what the federal government has been doing all this while. It unilaterally changes the terms of the agreement and forces the states to agree to these changes. If also forces the states to sign contracts that are one-sided and a breach of the Federation Agreement or the 20-point Agreement. But now the states are fighting back. Now the states will no longer take any shit. And this is what is happening in the Terengganu, Kedah and Sabah situations. The aggrieved parties are fighting back as they rightfully should. And Terengganu wants back its RM7 billion. Kedah is going to cut down all its trees. Sabah will go for a new government that can increase its 5% royalty to 20% (which should be 100% in the first place) plus a government that can honour the 20-point Agreement, which was the basis for it to team up with Malaya to form Malaysia.

    Yong: Problems remain unsolved
    The Star

The continued insensitive attitude of the Government towards serious issues in Sabah is the main reason Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) decided to move a motion of no-confidence against the Prime Minister. Its president Datuk Yong Teck Lee said the party had to make a stand before the “window of opportunity” closed by August after which Sabah would be forgotten again.

“The nation’s attention will switch to MCA and Umno elections, people will be pre-occupied with the fasting month, Hari Raya, school exams and year-end events,” he said in a statement yesterday. “Political fatigue in the national mainstream over 'Sabah-Sabah-Sabah' issues will set in.”

He said the momentum for Sabah to recover autonomy, obtain 20% oil royalties instead of the present five per cent and the return of Labuan would be lost. “Unfair federal laws, excessive taxes and structural imbalances in the economy will remain entrenched. Sabah will remain the poorest state subservient to central leadership. The illegal immigrant problem will reach boiling point. With our political move today (yesterday), SAPP hereby initiates the political process to claim 20% in oil royalties, which is after all the natural resource of Sabah,” he added.

Yong said the extra billions could be invested in agriculture, education, capacity-building and achieve self-sufficiency in many areas. “We can therefore insulate ourselves from external shocks or an economic tsunami,” he said.

He added that the people of Sabah were also suffering from high inflation because of recent “astronomical” and “unexpected” fuel price hikes, which was contrary to a Barisan election promise. He said fuel prices have caused the business sector to stagnate and predicted that unemployment and social problems would rise. “But the Government’s responses seem ad-hoc, flip-flop and lacking in foresight with a fire-fighting style.”

Among the problems that Yong said would remain unsolved were poverty eradication, rural development, racial politics, illegal immigrants, crime and drugs.

    The Sabah 20-point agreement

    Point 1: Religion

While there was no objection to Islam being the national religion of Malaysia there should be no State religion in North Borneo, and the provisions relating to Islam in the present Constitution of Malaya should not apply to North Borneo.

    Point 2: Language

    * a. Malay should be the national language of the Federation
    * b. English should continue to be used for a period of 10 years after Malaysia Day
    * c. English should be an official language of North Borneo for all purposes, State or Federal, without limitation of time.

    Point 6: Immigration

Control over immigration into any part of Malaysia from outside should rest with the Central Government but entry into North Borneo should also require the approval of the State Government. The Federal Government should not be able to veto the entry of persons into North Borneo for State Government purposes except on strictly security grounds. North Borneo should have unfettered control over the movements of persons other than those in Federal Government employ from other parts of Malaysia into North Borneo.

    Point 11: Tariffs and Finance

North Borneo should retain control of its own finance, development and tariff, and should have the right to work up its own taxation and to raise loans on its own credit.

Point 12: Special position of indigenous races

In principle, the indigenous races of North Borneo should enjoy special rights analogous to those enjoyed by Malays in Malaya, but the present Malays’ formula in this regard is not necessarily applicable in North Borneo.

    Point 15: Education

The existing educational system of North Borneo should be maintained and for this reason it should be under state control.

Point 17: Representation in Federal Parliament

This should take account not only of the population of North Borneo but also of its seize and potentialities and in any case should not be less than that of Singapore.

Point 20: Land, Forests, Local Government, etc.

The provisions in the Constitution of the Federation in respect of the powers of the National Land Council should not apply in North Borneo. Likewise, the National Council for Local Government should not apply in North Borneo.

Of course, if Malaya doesn't like it, it can take itself out of the federation. Or kick out Sabah like it did Singapore. It is no skin off the collective nose of the Sabahans and the Sarawakians to be out of the Malay empire and go join Singapore in a more fair and equitable union. In the end, Sabah and Sarawak will develop much faster under the dynamic tutelage of Singapore's clean and dynamic government.

Singapore's per capita GDP in nominal terms is some US$40,000. This translates to some RM130,000. I'm sure most Sabahans would prefer to earn household incomes of RM130,000 than the current RM20,000 or so. Sabahans and Sarawakians have everything to gain and nothing to lose by getting out of the trap that Malaysia has become and go join Singapore where their future will inevitably be much brighter for everybody - even for the Malays. (Just think how much more the Malays are making in Singapore than in Malaya.)

  20. Malaysia belongs to the ethnic Chinese as much as the malays. The malays are not the original aborigines in malay Peninsula. They have only arrived in Malaysia just a few hundred years earlier than the Chinese who have been there since the Tang Dynasty or earlier.

And there are many other indigenous peoples in Sabah and Sarawak who are not related to malays at all. Therefore Malaysia is not the country of the malays alone. It is just as much the country of the Chinese and the many other races from the Indians to the many aborigines and indigenous peoples.

For the Chinese - the British colonial era was much more beneficial than the current malay bully era. During the British colonial era the malays were polite and the Chinese held just about all the highest positions in the government and the police.

Now there is hardly any Chinese left in the government and the police. And while the Chinese were allowed to do any business during the colonial era, they are now not allowed to do anything other than own a few shops.

The society was also much safer during the colonial era. There were hardly any crimes when the efficient Chinese police officers ran an efficient police force to minimize crimes.

And the Chinese were very safe being able to call on the protection of the Chinese dominated police. And the government was also very clean, corruption free and efficient under the British rule.

Now the government is just a cesspool of corruption where nothing is done. Therefore, for the Chinese - the malays are the daggers in the heart. If Malaysia had remained under the British rule, it would have grown as rich as Hong Kong. The worst thing that has happened for the Chinese is independence.

The Chinese have migrated to Malaysia and other Southeast Asia places as early as the Tang Dynasty more than 1000 years ago. For instance, Mountain Kinabalu means Chinese Widow (Mountain Kinabalu is in Sabah, East Malaysia).

This shows how long Chinese peoples have been in Southeast Asia. Chinese have certainly earned the right to feel they are rightful citizens of any country and place in Southeast Asia.

Furthermore, United Nations does not discriminate against immigrants in any country. The UN does not sanction a set of rights for so-called immigrants and natives. All have the same rights. Even in UK no Chinese or Indians have to pay more for food or for housing. But in Malaysia they do. Therefore, the Chinese and the Indians don't need to tolerate this.

It is also bad logic to say the Chinese are recent migrants to Malaysia. As indicated above, the Chinese have been in Malaysia hundreds of years before America was even 'discovered' by Columbus.

If the white Americans are entitled to consider themselves masters of America, then certainly the Chinese have even more moral right to consider themselves masters of Malaysia.

As I have pointed out before, Sabah and Sarawak are not homelands of the malays. The Chinese were in Sabah and Sarawak long before the malays were ever there.

The Chinese have been there longer than the whites have been in America. The Chinese have been in Sabah and Sarawak even longer than the malays. The Chinese have been responsible for most of the wealth of Malaysia. Therefore, they are entitled to consider themselves equal owners of Malaysia.

As I said, the Chinese had been in the government, the military and the police under the British but are now out of the government, the military and the police under the malays. The Chinese were also allowed much more freedom to do business under the British than under the malays.

In fact, the Chinese can now do no more than own small shops. So it is obvious that the Chinese had been better treated by the British than by the malays. Just because the British had created division between the Chinese and the malays does not mean the Chinese are now treated better by the malays.

I have no doubt at all, that if the British had not left, Malaysia would be just as developed and prosperous as Hong Kong or Singapore. The stupid malays have ruined the Malaysia economy while robbing the Chinese.

I didn't see the Chinese fighting the malays under the colonial rule. If there were any fighting - it started after the British had left when the malays started killing the Chinese in the May 13 incident in 1969. And now the malays are constantly threatening the Chinese with more massacres similar to the May 13.

  21. Malays are a diverse group of Austronesian peoples inhabiting the malay archipelago and malay Peninsula in Southeast Asia.

The original Austronesians from southern China crossed the strait of Taiwan and settled modern day Taiwan around 8000 - 4000 BCE.

These first settlers landed in northern Luzon in the Philippines. Over the next thousand years up until 1500 BCE, their descendants started to spread south to the rest of the Philippine islands, Celebes, northern Borneo, Moluccas, and Java.

The settlers in Moluccas sailed eastward and began to spread to the islands of Melanesia and Micronesia between 1200 BCE and 500 BCE respectively. Those that spread westward reached Sumatra, the malay Peninsula and southern Vietnam by 500 BCE.

According to the Encyclopedia of Malaysia, the Negritos, who number approximately 2000, are regarded as the earliest inhabitants of the malay Peninsula.

They are of Australo-Melanesian affinity and probably descend from the people of Hoabinhian cultural period, with many of their burials found dating back 10000 years ago.

They speak Austroasiatic languages, as do their Senoi agriculturalist neighbours. The Senoi and Proto-malay arrived much later probably during the Neolithic period.

Sabah and Sarawak is being raped by Malaya till dry, all the oil and timber from the two states is being used to finance all the failed projects and also to feed all the Umno zealots.

Ask the Iban and Kandazan, they are being marginalized. Now the government even want to make the country into an Islamic state, did Sabah and Sarawak agree to join an Islamic state in the first place?

  26. Ripleys CSI today investigated and interviewed more Malaysian consumers and working people regardless of race and creed about the standing ovation for Pak PM retirement plan.

The following results of our interviewed and a survey report indicated two main findings as follows:-

    (a) Majority 70% surveyed people in our report indicated that a standing ovation of ” GREAT SHAME” for Mr CLEAN greedman to step down in 24 hours rather than waiting for 24 months from the date of his self-fired announcement in UMNO closed door meeting.

    (b) Minority 30% agreed with DR M earlier called Pak Lah to follow the Zen Japanese hero who “HARAKIRI” himself in 24 hours for losing 2/3 majority and losing 5 major states in the 12th GE in Malaysia. It is timely for Pak Bodowi (nicknamed with IZIN) to listen to the people cried and cursed.

Zero people voted on HIS famous motion called for definite prices increased this and that from FUEL PRICE FIREBALL to burden the entire nation today // Unquote : except greed BN cronies and UMNO Apologists are laughing silently to the Banks will give half passed six-type of standing ovation to Pak Bodowi for his kurang bijak methods of good governance for past 5 years when DR M had an immediate “HaraKiri” annoucement to quit UMNO and PM post in ceasing his racist political games and losing his power in 2004.

Lastly, “Go to HELL standing ovation to Pak PM” jerit with tears cried out loud from a poor bankrupt Malay father who sold his organ and blood in exchange for few bungkus of nasi lemak campur telur masin to feed his 10 children, a sick wife and two old folks in a kampung (Malay village).

What a SAD standing ovation for ?

  27. KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition Leader Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail filed an emergency motion of no confidence against Prime Minister at the office of the Dewan Rakyat Speaker at about 3.45pm Thursday.

After filing the motion, she said there would be no voting involved in the process, as Pakatan Rakyat was not seeking a no-confidence vote.

"We are not hoping for a change in the government but to have our voices heard,'' she said at Parliament lobby.

Asked why she was only doing it now, Dr Wan Azizah said because it was because the situation inthe country has worsened.

"This motion is simply to seek a change within the existing situation,'' she said.

Because there is no point in asking a vote due to the inevitable outcome of solid vote of confidence by the BN MPs. So it is a foregone conclusion that the vote will be something like 140 to 82. At the worst it may be 138 to 82 which does not change much.

If the vote is overwhelmingly against the PR, then it will only demoralize PR supporters and potential PR supporters who are thinking of jumping.

Here we go again. Another idiot daydreaming about Philippines invading Sabah armed with parangs, spears, and bow and arrows and maybe even a few blow guns. Idiots like these don't seem to understand that modern wars are fought with missiles, advanced jet fighters, unmanned drones, etc. Sabah has vast oil wealth that is potentially bigger than that of Brunei. This means that an independent Sabah has the wealth to equip a much more modern military than Philippines whose per capita GDP is only around US$1,500 and whose most valuable exports is their women as maids. And the much better educated Chinese in Sabah can man the modern military hardwares much more proficiently than the non-educated Filipinos. All the invasion naval ships will be sunk by powerful Sabah missiles long before they can even see the shores of Sabah. So all the Filipino invading soldiers will end up feeding the fishes in the Sulu Sea or Celebe Sea.

Of course, there is still a serious danger of Philippines invading Sabah successfully. This is through the millions of illegal Filipinos entering Sabah and getting citizenship to vote for the secession of Sabah from Malaysia and joining the Philippines.

So while UMNO is obviously thinking that it is so smart to give IC to millions of illegals, they just might end up giving away Sabah to the Filipinos without firing a single shot.

Clearly it is a day of shame when Sabah became a colony of the Malays. It is time for a new generation of Sabahans of all races to wake up and understand what has happened to their homeland. It is time for them to kick out the UMNOs and the illegals and institute a new nation that will share the bounties of Sabah fairly among all races to build a prosperous and just land for all who are willing to work hard and share according to the just deserts of their labor.

    --------------------------

The Mr. anon who expressed a sense of hopelessness is not against the Chinese, the KDM, and other indeigenous peoples of Sabah. In his own way he is concerned for the welfare of the Sabah peoples. He is sounding the alarm for the Sabah people to wake up to their current dangers from the invasion of the illegals who will inevitably take over the government in due time if not checked.

Of course, I hope Datuk Yong and SAPP will be able to stop the silent invasion of the illegals. But the only way to effectively stop the invasion is to understand the root of the problem which is UMNO. It is UMNO that is deliberately encouraging the illegals to enter Sabah and give them ICs so that they can vote for UMNO to maintain the dominance of UMNO in Sabah.

Therefore, Sabah Pogun should not facetiously ask Mr. anon to pack up and leave Sabah. He should tank Mr. anon tearfully for his concern for the welfare of the Sabahan peoples. And frankly I don't know how Sabah Pogun is going to "protect" Sabah if he asked people like Mr. anon who are intelligent and concerned enough to point out the urgent danger of the illegal immigrant problem to leave Sabah.

I'd like to hear what Sabah Pogun have to offer by way of a plan to protect Sabah from these illegal immigrants. If Sabah Pogun doesn't even acknowledge that the illegal immigrants pose a serious threat to the Sabah peoples, then he is more an enemy of the Sabah people than their friend.

  39. Spread this email far and wide: tax payers money is being used to divide the races in Malaysia so that the UMNO controlled Barisan Nasional remains in power for the next 100 years.

    http://www.malaysiawaves.com/2008/07/umnos-latest-psy-war-materials-exposed.html

NOTE: This is an email i received from a reader exposing the latest brain washing tricks deployed by UMNO's apparatus called Biro Tatanegara(BTN). Mind you BTN is 100% funded by tax payer's money)

Biro Tatanegara. Does it ring a bell? Government propaganda or honest student development programme? For those who aren't aware of it, Biro Tatanegara or BTN for short is under the Jabatan Perdana Menteri and it has several modules which all public university students have to attend in the name of "Student Development". On the 6th of July 2008 in UiTM Shah Alam, there were three separate talks being held under BTN with the first one being titled "Pendidikan", second one titled "Ancaman Keselamatan Negara" and the third one titled, "Patriotisma". Smell anything funny yet? No? Read on. You won't even have to smell it after you are done reading this. It'll be stuffed down your throat.

I would like to only focus on the first speaker, Dr. Idris bin Md. Noor. He was supposed to talk about education as that was the title of his speech, but the content was far different. He first went on with the usual introductions but in less than a few minutes, he suddenly touched on the forum on the discussion of social contract in Malaysia that the BAR council organized. He criticized it with all his heart, saying no one should discuss about it as it is unquestionable. Fair enough, I thought at first. Freedom of speech right? But what if he suddenly accuses the "Malay" speaker in the forum, which I'm guessing is Farish A. Noor, as a traitor to the Malay race as a whole? And while he was browsing through his files on the laptop which was projected on the big screen, it was no surprise for me that I saw files entitled "Ketuanan Melayu". He also then went on about the Malay's obsession with magic and ghosts, he said that it is all wrong beliefs through the perspective of Islam because if they really could use magic and other dark arts for fighting, then they should kill Karpal Singh with it.

There are so many quotable sentences, if only I could remember it all. He even said, "Kalau ular dengan India depan mata, ketuk India dulu." He then started to become more impassioned in his speech towards the end, like someone campaigning for a political seat yet failed, and resorted to a multi-purpose hall with bumiputra students. He said so many atrocious things that I will list them down in point form.

-Explained how the Malays aren't racist but others are racist towards us.
-Bangsa Malaysia does not exist, neither does Malaysian Chinese and Indians, only in the strict Malay, Chinese and Indians. (Interestingly, behind a booklet provided to us, one of the objectives of the programme is to produce a -"Bangsa Malaysia". Obviously, he was ignorant).
-Bahasa Malaysia does not exist, it is Bahasa Melayu.
-Nothing wrong with waving the Keris.
-Bumiputra hanya 55% di Malaysia, give birth more people!
-The University and Colleges Act was partly made to ensure a Malay Vice-Chancellor in Universities which should be the way.
    -Blogs are "berdosa" or sinful.
    -Christians will not like Muslims.

But that isn't even the best part. The best part is, he showed a short film on the
dangers of Zionism and the illegal occupation of Palestine which was probably the only part of the speech I agreed with and I thought to myself this could be the only fact of the speech but surprise, surprise, at the end of the film, there was a montage of so-called Zionist supporters with the pictures of Anwar Ibrahim, Tian Chua, Teresa Kok, Hishamuddin Rais and Ezam Md. Nor. Then a question popped up in my head. Is Ezam still a Zionist supporter since he is in UMNO now? Does that mean the government has a Zionist supporter as well as the opposition? And expectedly, the speaker was being more anti-semitic than anti-zionist. He even explained how the Pakatan Rakyat ruled states are all going down the drain and he says, "this is what you get if you vote for the opposition!" He criticized Anwar Ibrahim and his colleagues so much along with Pakatan Rakyat while being completely oblivious towards Barisan Nasional's mistakes. As if they have perfect policies.

This was supposed to be a speech touching on education and look how it ended up. It did not even smell anything of education. It was a speech that was not meant for national unity at all. How could it be when you spread hate? I could only sit and ponder quietly while all this was happening. But the speech was not the saddest part. The saddest part was that the majority of students in the hall were cheering him on. I will type out part of the lyrics that were supplied to us, entitled, "Warisan".

    Anak Kecil main api
    Terbakar hatinya yang sepi
    Air mata darah bercampur keringat
    Bumi dipijak milik orang

    Nenek moyang kaya raya
    Tergadai seluruh harta benda
    Akibat engketa sesamalah kita
Cinta lenyap di arus zaman ini

    Sabah.

    Mesti kita berubah tambahkan ramai

    Sekian maju Sabah

  44. Hello! Sabahans,

Rakyat replied to Dr M’s Che Det blog on UMNO and Pak Lah issues.

Raykat : “TIPU, TIPU, TIPU…

Renunglah. Fikirlah.”

Unclue Lim : ” Can Abdullah achieve anything in carrying out national reforms before the end of the Ninth Malaysia Plan in the next two years when he had failed so dismally in the past five years? This is the question he must answer in the final government winding-up of the parliamentary debate on the Ninth Malaysia Plan Mid-Term Review on Monday.

Rakyat said “Uncle Lim , please don’t waste your saliva and precious time to raise the above useless questions to the hopeless Pak Lah, dengan izin, Pak Lah has closed his ears and eyes now tapi tunggu semata-mata 24 months and think how to gain more billions in 9MP from wang ehsan rakyat dalam kocek kocek UMNO & BN agendas are more important than rakyat mau turun harga-harga barangan and servis now.”

If just one or two Sabahan lowered the flag to half-staff then he or they will surely be harassed by the police if not arrested. But if hundreds of thousands of Sabahans lowered the flag to half-staff, then the police cannot arrest everybody and so will not arrest anybody. This is the reason for unity and strength in number. The fight for the greater good of Sabah is not the personal fight of just one or two Sabahans but the fight of all Sabahans. The challenge is to rouse the patriotic spirit of all Sabahans and not facetiously ask a few to expose themselves to certain retaliation by the police. There is a difference between suicide and courage.

Obviously, usb is speaking for the “phillipines AND Indons illegals” and not for the Sabahans. He started by listing a couple of crimes committed by the illegals and then ridiculed the Sabahans insinuating that they are cowards because some had emigrated to Australia and Canada. He tried to insinuate that these emigrants are now suffering in these other countries because of excessive cold. Obviously, this usb person probably had never been to Australia and Canada which are very advanced countries with central heating in most houses which keep them nice and cozy even in wintertime. All this usb person has succeeded to do is show his own ignorance.

Usb is justifying the crimes of the illegals and defending their presence in Sabah. However, he had given no rational reasons to justify their crimes and their presence in Sabah other than his own belief that it is not the fault of the “phillipines AND Indons illegals” to be in Sabah. With all due respect to usb, who probably can claim the defense of mental deficiency for his simplemindedness, his personal belief does not carry weight with anybody. At least not anyone who is in any way rational. Unfortunately, those in control of the government obviously have the same low level of intellectual “achievement” as our friend usb which is why Sabah is in such bad shape.

As to being harsh and branding the illegals, I’m sure they are very nice people individually. But being nice people doesn’t exactly qualify one to enter any country in the world including Sabah. As far as I’m concerned there should be a well defined set of immigration laws that will promote the development of Sabah. Then that set of immigration law must be equally and fairly enforced and applied to all races from Chinese to Filipinos to Indonesians to whites and all others. Such laws should encourage the entry of those with the highest education and the largest amount of capital so that they can contribute to the development of Sabah for the benefit of all races. Those who are not qualified must be rejected even if they are Muslims. It is that simple. And it must be that simple. Those who agree are not naïve but intelligent and righteous. Those who disagree saying UMNO will not allow it are only cowards who have sold out to thugs.

I’m frankly surprised that usb claimed to be having sleepless nights. One has to have a brain before one can over-exercise it into sleeplessness.

I frankly can’t figure out what exactly usb intended to say in the last sentence. Maybe he said he’s worried our future generation may need to sneak into other countries because Malaysian government might become so corrupted that Sabah economy will collapse and the Sabahans will need to sneak into other countries to make a living. He is trying to argue that since the Sabahans will have to sneak into other countries illegally in the future, therefore, we must accept the illegals sneaking into Sabah now. This is about as muddled and befuddled as any brain can be.

Obviously, if Sabah economy collapsed then Sabahans might need to sneak into other countries to make a living. It is precisely because of this possibility that the Malaysian government must be rectified now so that Sabah economy will not collapse in the future.

Usb asked what can be done. I’ve already explained many times what must be done to avoid the collapse of the Sabah economy. Sabah must unite with Sarawak and form a Pan-Borneo Alliance which with more than 50 MP’s can be a powerful group and can unite with PR to form a government to implement policies calculated to solve the problems of Sabah and advance the economy.

    -------------------------------------------
Once a new government that is truly representing the Sabah peoples are in power, the illegals problem can be easily solved. Those who are undocumented will be returned to their place of origin. If they cannot be returned then they will be put in internment camps and put to work to clear jungles, build roads, make license plates, etc. If any Filipinos think they are going to end up clearing jungles in Sabah then they will not even try to come.

I’m sure UMNO would love to implement emergency rule. This is why it is necessary to overthrow this tyrannical government as soon as possible. And the best way is to form the Pan-Borneo Alliance and then form the new government with PR. If just 40 Sabah and Sarawak MP’s can leave BN, that would reduce the number of MP’s for BN to just 100. And if these 40 MP’s formed a coalition with PR, the new coalition would have 142 MP’s to BN‘s 100. That would allow them to form the new government. Therefore, the ways and means of overthrowing the UMNO government are there. The question is whether the Sabah and Sarawak MP’s have the courage and the intelligence and the patriotism to do what the people want them to do.

    -----------------------------------------
I know what I’m soldiering on for. But I’m not at all sure what usb is soldiering for. He seems to want the Sabah people to just quit and give up and let the illegals take over Sabah because as he has been at pains to point out repeatedly it is too late. But it is not too late as I’ve explained that Sabah and Sarawak can easily form an alliance to change the government and institute reforms to solve all the problems accumulated over the last 45 years under the loathsome UMNO. All can be democratically without firing a single shot and without breaking any laws and without putting any member of parliament in danger.

The question is never about foreigners coming into Sabah. The question is how to control their presence here. I’ve said many times the solution is not to eliminate cheap foreign labor but to eliminate illegal immigrants. I’ve said many times that Sabah needs foreign cheap labor to operate the agricultural sector. Without the cheap foreign laborers the Sabah agricultural sector would collapse and in turn collapse the Sabah economy. But this can be easily solved by giving work passes to legitimate foreign workers and requiring them to register with the immigration office according to the law and be properly finger-printed and documented. Those foreign workers on work passes will be required to return to their countries at the end of their contract period and never be qualified for permanent residence or citizenship. With this clear understanding, there will be no problems. Those foreign workers who absconded from their jobs will be reported by their employers. When found they will be deported. They can be deported because they are documented in the first place. If they destroyed their documents, there are copies on file with the immigration office. These files can be retrieved through finger prints. If their countries of origin will not accept them back, then they will be sent to internment camps to do hard labor for the rest of their lives. Since nobody want to end up doing hard labor for the rest of their lives, the illegals will not come and so ends the problem of illegals. All it required is a corruption free government to implement the law efficiently.

In the final analysis, the solution is simple. The hard part is getting an honest government to implement the solution.

    ---------------------------

You are saying what the Malayan people said before March 8. They said things will never change; UMNO is too powerful; Malays will never permit non-Malays to have the majority.

Well, friend, things have changed. UMNO is on the point of disintegration. And the non-Malays are now dominant if not in total control of several states. It seems usb's insight is all hindsight. But what true wisdom allows is foresight. And what is needed is courage and not corrupted cynicism. And foresight and courage are what will allow the Sabah people to break out of the Malay supremacist domination and be free to build a place for the safety and prosperity of their future generations and their own retirement.

    ReplyDelete
  51. As I said many times, Malay supremacist dogma is only possible in the 1960's due to a peculiar set of international and regional circumstances. These include the collapse of China, the dominance of the US and its policy of encircling China. The relative power vacuum after the Brits left also allowed the Malays to grab power.

But the world has changed in the last 45 years. China has regained a small amount of its potential. And even though it is only a small fraction of its full potential, yet it is big enough for China to become a truly world class military power with hundreds if not thousands of nuclear tipped ICBMs such as DF-31 and DF-31A that can reach all parts of the world. China has developed, produced, and deployed J-10 fighters which are rated equal to and probably superior to America F-16 Falcon and F/A-18 Hornet, both of which are rated 4th generation while J-10 is rated as 4.5th generation. China has also developed such high tech weapons such as Aegis battleships, satellite killers, nuclear submarines with super quiet technologies, and many more.

America's emphasis has changed since 45 years ago when it was in the midst of fighting the Vietnam war and inciting the Malays to marginalize and terrorize the Chinese. Now America needs China's exports and cheap labor to sustains its high standard of living. In SE Asia America is much more interested in fighting the Islamist terrorists than in encircling China.

The neighboring countries of Malaysia have also changed. Singapore is now an advanced country that is rich and militarily powerful with a GDP that is even bigger than that of Malaysia and bigger than that of the Philippines. Singapore's military spending is bigger than Malaysia's by 3 to 1. Singapore's fighters are much more efficient than Malaysia's and can be expected to shoot down all Malaysian fighters within half an hour of the start of war. Therefore, while Singapore was militarily dominated by Malaysia in the 1960's, it is now more powerful than Malaysia and can defeat Malaysia at any time.

The Philippines was the most advanced country in the 1960's but it is now a basket case with a per capita GDP that is even less than that of Indonesia. And Indonesia is also a basket case with a GDP that is less than 25 times that of Singapore on a per capita basis. These two countries were a large threat to Singapore and Malaysia in the 1960's. They are now basket cases and no longer a threat to anybody. In fact, they are on the point of disintegrating due to many secessionist groups within their respective countries.

So given the drastically changed international and regional circumstances, Sabah's position within Malaysia can be changed. There are now many options open to Sabah. The only thing that will determine which way Sabah will go is the will of the Sabahan people.

And the threat of Malay massacres is no longer real because America will no longer help Malays to marginalize the Chinese. And China and Singapore will definitely intervene not only for humanitarian reasons but also for their own strategic reasons. Whoever can control or just inflence Sabah can control the southern edge of the South China Sea, as well as entry into the Sulu Sea and Celebe Sea. Therefore, for strategic purposes many countries will take an interest in the direction of Sabah's politics. These will be willing to help Sabah for their own selfish interests. But Sabah can play this to increase its own security and prosperity. Especially, if it can regain control of its oil and gas. Then with an influx of Chinese immigrants, Sabah will become a rich and powerful nation on the order of Taiwan or S. Korea within 20 years. That would be very good for all the races in Sabah.
