Tham questions Chin's rationale for defending JPPS

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) stalwart Datuk Tham Nyip Shen yesterday took a swipe at the deputy president of the Liberal DemocraticParty (LDP), Datuk Chin Su Phin, for defending the sabah Federal Development Department (JPPS)
Than (pictured) questioned chin's overzealous act of defending the department and even went so far as to say that it appeared as though he had a major stake in it.
"Perhaps he should tell tthe people of Sabah what his relation is with the JPPS as I was made to understand that he is one of the biggest JPPS contractors in town.

  1. If and only if SAPP & LDP can really show some mutual respect to each other in Sabah politic, I would not be optimistic of seeing any reasonable progress for Sabahan especially the Chinese Sabahan. There's so much they can do for the people, and yet, what they do is spending time discrediting each other in front of the mighty UMNO. What a shame, very selfish indeed. People look upon you guys for performance, not these counter-productive acts/behaviours. Unity is strength, and make sure you don't disappoint us. PBS, LDP, and SAPP, we expect you to deliver what you've pledged, and expecting good performance. Remember, there are alternatives like DAP, PKR, Gerakan, or MCA.

  2. It would be wonderful if everyone was nice to each other. Nothing to complain about. Make love, not war... Yes, that’s my definition of Heaven. But unfortunately, we are mere mortals trying to make the best of what is around.

The question is not why Tham "discredit" Chin, it is what's the real reason for Chin to defend JPPS? Come on....a direct question deserves a straight answer, right? Tham asking the question for UMNO's benefit, I don’t think so, rather for the benefit of Sabah and the rakyat.

I agree that there are times when we ponder upon the reason why certain moves made by politicians, but in this case, it is plain to see...Tham's Party, SAPP, has made it publicly known that JPPS, as an agency, was set up when the State was under PBS' rule but since the BN government took over the helm, JPPS main reason for being is redundant.

When every YBs agree to the closure, this person defended JPPS, except for personal gain, any other reason will be accepted by the public.

So, SAPP, in my books, you are performing, keep up the good work..don't worry about unity, that will come naturally, when you consistently fight for whats right.

  4. Abolition of federal dept welcomed
    2nd June, 2008
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah leaders welcomed the abolishment of the federal development department but eyebrows were raised over the suitability of a high-powered cabinet committee to tackle migrant problem.

State leaders are seeing the move to abolish the 17-year- old Department of Federal Development Sabah or JPPS as positive move towards improving coordination of the federal development projects in the state through the State Development Office.

  5. I just don't trust you guys (Sabahan) in handling the federal funds allocated for the Sabah Development Office (SDO). I'd seen you guys work and definitely no confidence on your performance and integrity. So, after all these appeals to the Federal, you finally got it but don't be happy, it's a far cry from the 20% oil loyalty which is paid directly to our State Coffer and how we spend is ours business. The federal funds for SDO has to go through project submission, study, and finally approval and allocation before officers in SDO can implement it. It's a long process and subject to constant interferences and manipulations from time to time. You asked for it but not quite how you want it. They are buying time.
