Umno's 11th hour political bribery in Sibu by-election

Datuk Seri Najib Razak made an 11th-hour appearance tonight on the stump here with the race for tomorrow’s Sibu by-election vote a dead heat.

Making a last-minute pitch in a DAP stronghold, he announced an allocation of RM5 million for flood-mitigation projects in Rejang Park.

The announcement came just three hours before the campaign period for the by-election ends.
“I want to make a deal with you. Can we have an understanding or not?” Najib asked some 1,000 people who attended a public rally at the residential area.

“The understanding is quite simple. I help you, you help me,” said the Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman.
BN’s Robert Lau Hui Yew is contesting against Sarawak DAP chairman Wong Ho Leng and independent Narawi Haron in the by-election.

“If Robert Lau becomes the MP on Sunday, on Monday I will ask the cheque to be prepared,” Najib told the all-Chinese audience.

Najib decided to make a final-day appearance after BN campaign reports suggested the DAP had closed the gap on the ruling coalition’s initial lead in the race.

In Election 2008 the DAP won more than 60 per cent of the Chinese votes.
The community form about 67 per cent of the 54,659 voters in Sibu.

  7. breaking news...
DAP chairperson Karpal Singh has accused Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak of blatant vote buying during the Sibu by-election which was concluded yesterday.

He referred to an event where Najib had addressed voters in the DAP stronghold of Rejang Park on the eve of polling day, based on a report in English-language daily Sunday Eastern Times.

  8. Imagine these postal votes can determine who win or lose if you see the percentage margin.

The opposition esp Dap managed to get only 3% of the votes!!!

    Ridiculous! Incredible...

    DAP - 70
    BN - 2,323
    Ind - 36
    Rejected postal votes - 208

Postal voting should be conducted with transparency or otherwise it will be made a tool for the government of the day to manipulate and decide the elections.

  14. PR and SAPP should work together in order to get Umno out of Sabah.

But first of all, Sabah should have the opportunity to determine who their leaders are, not dictated by leaders from KL or Putrajaya.

PR can concentrate on West Msia but let local based parties have the opportunity to control their political destiny in Sabah.

  15. Sabahan should give priority to their local-based opposition party to fight for STATE AUTONOMY. We have been enough being colonised, controlled and mastermind from WM party.

This is the time for Sabahans to stand tall to manage and govern our own soil.

SAPP will work with PKR to kick umno out from Sabah for good!
