Umno Youth questioned the “deafening silence”

Dumbfounded - Eerie silence queried
KOTA KINABALU: Umno Youth questioned the “deafening silence” of the Bar Council, NGOs and also bloggers over plans by Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s plan to woo Barisan Nasional MPs into Pakatan Rakyat.

Umno Youth secretary Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan said these groups who claimed to be defending the rights of the people are remaining silent over Anwar’s move to engineer defections that are undemocratic and an act of stealing the mandate of the people.

Abdul Rahman cautioned that Anwar’s planned “backdoor” grabbing of power will only destabilise the country and cause serious long term repercussions to the country.

If Sept 16 does occur, it will not be a surprise if Barisan supporters go to the street to challenge the legitimacy of such government formed on undemocratic means. And all this is because Anwar wants to be Prime Minister,” he added.

He said the United States has only criticised the government but seem to be having an agenda in not criticising Anwar when it came to toppling the government.

“Why when Anwar is being investigated they criticised the government saying that it should protect human rights and observe democratic principles but now Anwar is trying to steal the democratically elected government, US keeps silent,” he added
    ---------------------------------
The US had rightly criticized UMNO-BN government for illegally and immorally framed Anwar with a false charge of sodomy. All governments with any righteousness would have spoken out against such barbarity. In every poll of the Malaysian people, 80% or more of the respondents have indicated that they believe the charge is false. Therefore, America is right to condemn such violation of Anwar’s human rights.

But there is nothing undemocratic for Anwar and PR to try to garner the support of more MP’s to form a new government to replace the corrupt and racist UMNO-BN government. Where is it said anywhere that it is undemocratic to enlist the support of politicians to form new governments? It doesn’t say so in the constitution of Malaysia. It certainly does not say so in the American constitution. I don’t know of any constitution of any democratic government in the world that specifically forbids the realignment of elected officials who feel that they have the mandate of their constituents to stop supporting a government that had lost the support of the people. In fact, it is the moral and ethical obligation and duty of an elected official to obey the wishes of his constituents and do what his constituents want him to do. Therefore, if the constituents of a BN MP want him to stop supporting BN and support PR instead, then it is his duty to convert to PR. That is his democratic duty to do.

Therefore, all this mendacious talk about BN MP’s converting to PR is undemocratic is just so much obfuscation and an insult to the intelligence of any intelligent people. All it does is show the desperation of UMNO-BN leadership who now understand that their corrupt reign is coming to an end as surely as day follows night.

It has been pointed out that UMNO-BN itself had repeatedly in the past converted opposition MP’s. So now that they are getting a dose of their own medicine, they are screaming undemocratic. Can anybody really believe these guys?

  2. Malaysian government is not the private property of UMNO-BN. Therefore, it is not possible for anybody to "steal" it from them. The government belongs to the people. The people have the right to take it away from the ruling party/alliance and give it to a new party/alliance if they judge the ruling party/alliance is corrupt and incompetent. This is in fact how democracy operates.

Therefore, UMNO-BN is still trying to lie to the Malaysian people by screaming that PR is trying to steal the government from it. The truth is the Malaysian government does not belong to UMNO-BN in the first place and therefore cannot be "stolen" from it. The re-alignment of political parties is simply the operation of democracy where the people sanction the shift of support from an old corrupt and incompetent party/alliance to a new party/alliance.

  3. 1. Sehingga saat ini memang masih menjadi misteri samada DSIB boleh berjaya dengan kempen "Penghijrahan MP a.k.a 916" atau tidak.

Why after 51 years of Malaya Independence, 45 years (Sarawak & Sabah joined to form Malaysia) and 39 years (after 1969)their young nut-headed members cannot learn and observe more democratic rights of majority will.
Their behaviour and thought always inmature and pointing finger or keep blaming US or other instead! This 'non-sense' making vibrant or threathening words on there are going to have serious occurence to frighten malaysian has been very silly!
Malaysian who had witnessed the change or unwilling changed due to
existing of all these nut-heads or racists. So if they really start another big trouble for sure everyone will be ready to take on them. That simple and assure it's not going to be like the old event that many had been abused!
Fuck you men who are giving nonsense in Malaysia!

  5. Firstly, what Rahman Dahalan should ask himself is,Weather UMNO/BN is relevant.Surely he's not dumb, deaf or blind to realize the destruction that happening in the country,or is he?

The truth is imminent, the changes are inevitable and you better deal with it,it's happening.UMNO/BN have eroded and violated the sacred trust bestowed upon them by the people and we will have no more of this BULLSHIT.

Rahman says"BN will stage a demonstration if Anwar takes over the Government by backdoor means, how naive and ignorant can he be.Who's approving the permit for this demonstration?

My advice to Rahman is,if the people of Kota Belid and Tuaran are close to heart, listen to their voices and be the conscientious one and shift.

    Cheers.

We need not have much to comment but see and feel for yourselves who have been "racist" all the times!
It has once again reminded us of those who's parents were missing and beheaded in history.
Who shall give justice to those who had lost their family members just because of those racists in Malaysia?
We really must learn from history to hit them right with no excuse.

  7. UMNO youth has long pratised "cium tangan' and "angkat kaki" culture from their corrupted seniors. Tell me which Umno ketua bahagian or ketua pemuda didn't turn from poor to riches overnight by lobbying for projects from umno ministers or Abdullah. What have they contributed to the poor Bumi's in Sabah. All they do are hunting for land, projects and gov't positions. Sabahans care less about these useless lot but more concernrd why SAPP try to raise Haris Salleh from this doom.Haris has created havoc like leading riots, prosecuting the people of Sandakan for voting DAP, making himself as the Dictator of Sabah in his Berjaya days. Datuk Yong, you should consider this, the people hate Haris and you are doing him a favour to bring him out as a kind and wise adviser. What happen if the BN govt really fall and a new set of politicians take over, will Haris become a prominent figure and start his rule again? That's what all us fear and hate to see. Think hard SAPP, you are inviting a virus into your nest.

  8. UMNO Youth is also SILENT on the racial remark made by Ahmad. So they codone his behavior. The fall of a UMNO means the end of their over 46 years of "Misadventure" to get rich in East Malaysia and the end of their "Misagventure" to get rich in Malaya. The poor will remain poor because in each election they have "haram duit" to distribute to the poor Malays, Indians, Chinese and non-Muslim ethnic bumiputra in East Malaysia.

Why are UMNO YOUTH worried? Why do Bar Coucil has no said anything? It has not happened. UMNO Youth is dammed scared of their own shadow.

UMNO-led BN has to fall because they are corrupt leaders, racialist, arrogant, etc.

  9. The history fact: Malay in Malaysia is from Kerajaan Riau in Indonesia, so it is right to call all malays in west malaysia as indon. The indigenous people in west malaysia is Org asli, but we can see how poor is the orang asli now. The malay immigrants have made the life so misery for orang asli. Now let us look into the history of sabah. the indigenous people in sabah is Kadazan, dusun, murut, rungus, etc. but the illegal immigrant has been granted IC under Project IC during mahathir era. Do we the native of sabahan wanted to be end up like the org asli in west malaysia????? Please wake up...we must change now or we will be doom...Even now we can see what UMNO has done to sabahan...they make sure all the state/federal government staffs are from this so call sabah malay (origin is PTI), can we see any KDM in state government now? The only KDM people working in government are all above 45 years old, all the younger generation is in government is all MUslim malays (PTI). I have been applying for government work after graduated 6 years ago but unable to get any offer. Now I have to work in Indonesia to cari makan and many of younger generation of sabah native has to work in oversea like singapore, brunei, china, indonesia as we are unable to work in state government. Our CM also is bangali not the native from sabah. Do u think we dont have no competent native leader in sabah??? The competent native leader is now being sideline by the older generation leader like pairin, max, but PBS is a dog to UMNO and not relevant anymore. Now let us change the government in Sabah, let us chase UMNO out of sabah once and for all.

  11. Thanks to BN/UMNO - Malaysia again becomes an international laughing stock!

    Read this:

Malaysians Go to Taiwan Amid Strife

    From New York Times

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — The Malaysian ruling party flew more than a third of government lawmakers to Taiwan on Monday in a hastily arranged trip, ostensibly to study farming techniques.

But the trip was widely interpreted as a desperate government effort to try to stop lawmakers from shifting their support to Anwar Ibrahim.

Mr. Anwar, the country’s most prominent opposition figure, won re-election to Parliament last month after a 10-year absence and needs 30 more seats to oust the current government and form his own. His National Justice Party is openly wooing members of the ruling coalition.

Salehuddin Hashim, the National Justice secretary general, called the trip a “kidnapping” meant to protect the coalition, Barisan National, or National Front, which has ruled Malaysia for 51 years but is fracturing.

“This has obviously nothing to do with agriculture,” Mr. Salehuddin said. “It’s a very clear sign of the anxieties and insecurities inside Barisan.”

Top officials have dismissed the challenge by the opposition as unrealistic. But they have also publicly asked government lawmakers to sign pledges of allegiance to the ruling coalition.

Officials insisted Monday that the weeklong trip by about 50 members of Parliament was strictly for study purposes.

“We are going to Taiwan to study about agriculture,” Bung Mokhtar Radin, a member of Parliament from the eastern state of Sabah, told Reuters. “There’s nothing political about this trip.”

But Tricia Yeoh, director of the Center for Public Policy Studies, a Malaysian research group, said the trip would give Barisan officials an opportunity to try to dissuade potential defectors. “The Barisan government is really grasping at straws,” she said.

  12. Ahmad Ismail & the entire UMNO should read this:

    One people, one destiny

I was reading the Proclamation of Independence again recently. It struck me how the proclamation starts with not only with the utterance “In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful” but also, in the next sentence, “Praise be to God, the Lord of the Universe (Rabb Al-‘alamin) and may the blessings and peace of God be upon His Messengers.”

The expression Rabb Al-‘alamin resonates. It is my favourite description of the Creator, saying to me that Allah’s embrace is so all encompassing, like a mother’s, that no one, not a single one of us, will ever be allowed to fall from His cradle. ‘Abdullah Yusuf Ali conveys the nuances of this phrase richly in translating it as the “Cherisher and Sustainer of the Worlds”. “Worlds”, not “world”. Worlds. ‘Abdullah Yusuf Ali says, “There are many worlds, astronomical and physical worlds, worlds of thought, spiritual world and so on. In every one of them, God is all-in-all.” I agree. The world I live in is in many ways different from the world in which my neighbour lives. My family, friends, experiences, history and spirituality are so different from his, as are his from mine.

As I read the opening words to the Proclamation again, I was reminded of how in invoking Rabb Al-‘alamin and His Messengers, our founders had not only proclaimed this nation as one in which Islam was the religion of the Federation, they had also recognized that the Malaysian universe was one made of up of so many different worlds. The Proclamation goes on to declare: “AND WHEREAS by the Federal Constitution aforesaid provision is made to safeguard the rights and prerogatives of Their Highnesses the Rulers and the fundamental rights and liberties of the people and to provide for the peaceful and orderly advancement of the Persekutuan Tanah Melayu as a constitutional monarchy based on Parliamentary democracy.”

We are one people, all of whom have a common destiny. We come from different worlds and we will continue to have our own peculiarities even as we forge a common identity. Islam is embedded in the Constitution and that will not change. Leave aside the practical impossibility of ever denuding the Constitution of Islam, our shared history and our present are so interleaved with the faith that its absence would leave a void for many of us, even non-Muslims. A friend of mine of another faith used to complain about the azan until she spent a long time away and realized how it had given her comfort, signaling the end of night and the start of another day. In the same way, the funds that are used for the advancement of Islam in this country come, in part, from taxes collected from all of us and we do not hear complaint about it.

An appreciation of this, and the equally protected status of the Malays, must necessarily bring with it an equal understanding of our need for mutual respect. This is not just about the guarantee of equality in the Constitution, this is about what common good requires of all of us. I do not profess to be an expert but I recognize at my core that God made us equals even as He made us different so that we could understand acceptance within His full embrace. I understand that our diversity mirrors the worlds that are His domain, as much as I understand that our diversity is a reflection of His Oneness. For this reason, when we cleave any one of us away from the rest of this society, it is a cause of great pain and anguish. There are sensitivities that have to be handled very delicately even where we feel that there are issues that need to be confronted. Perhaps too belatedly, I understand now that so focused on law and constitutional rights have I been that I have at times overlooked the need to be less robust in the way I explained myself; though things needed to be said, and still do, they could have at time been said that much better.

When Dr Rais Yatim opened the conference at which the proposed Interfaith Commission Bill was to be discussed, he said something that has remained with me since, “We must know the sharp edges protruding in a multi-religious and multi-racial society.” Rightly so, for how else are we to understand how to live with each other more harmoniously unless we know the sharp edges. We must confront, understand and resolve. And while sensitivity is necessary, it must not be permitted to keep us away from what we have to do as a community of worlds or to shut us out.

We must also not blind ourselves to the fact that sensitivity is a two-way street. No one person or community has a monopoly over the right to feel pain. We all bleed the deep, red blood of Malaysia. Tanah tumpahnya darahku.

  13. DAP Lim Kit Siang slammed PBS Dr Maximus for his hypocrite statement recently:

The Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) deputy president and Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, Datuk Dr. Maximus Ongkili for example, who condemned the plan to overthrow the BN government by alleged “undemocratic means” as “evil”.

Dr Maximus said “enticing elected BN representatives to cross over so that Pakatan Rakyat could seize power was shameful, unethical and dangerous because it would create political chaos and economic strife”.

He said the people should “reject the dirty politics propagated by the opposition, and erase the notion that elected politicians in Malaysia could be bought and sold for a pot of political porridge”.

He also posed the following questions:

“Why is Pakatan so insistent in promoting the formation of a government of unprincipled politicians?
“Do we want this country to be governed by frog legislators who will surely mortgage the rights of the people?”

Lim however turned around and reminded Ongkili that the language of abuse like “evil”, “dirty politics”, “elected politicians…bought and sold for a pot of political porridge”, “unprincipled politicians”, “frog legislators who …mortgage the rights of the people” could be so easily thrown back against him as he had led PBS from the Opposition into the Barisan Nasional in highly controversial circumstances.

“I fully agree that Malaysian politics must be kept clean, ethical and principled and there must be no room for elected representatives to be “frog legislators” to defect for monetary gain or other material inducements – or to use Ongkili's words “a pot of political porridge”.

“This is why DAP and I had maintained since the 70s that elected representative should resign if they want to defect, return the mandate to the voters to seek their approval in a by-election on a question of principle – which will banish the disgraceful political spectacle of money politics where MPs and state legislators could be bought and sold in the market place and end unprincipled, unethical and dishonourable politics,” he stressed.

He however regretted that this honourable option for an MP to resign and cause a by-election to seek a new mandate from the electorate to endorse his resignation or defection was closed in 1990 when the Constitution was amended to bar any MP who resigns from his seat from standing for election for five years.

He claimed that after the two political tsunamis of March 8 general election and the Permatang Pauh by-election on August 26, there is a deepening crisis of confidence in the authority and legitimacy of the Prime Minister, the Cabinet and the Barisan Nasional government who seem to be completely lost as to how to resolve the multiple crisis of confidence afflicting the country, whether political, economic, institutional, good governance or even nation-building.

“As a result, more and more Malaysians have come around to the view that in the national interest to safeguard the well-being of the nation and people, particularly to enhance our international competitiveness to assure the future prosperity of all Malaysians, a change of government is not only timely but has become an imperative national agenda. I believe that this is also the view of more and more BN MPs,” he said.

Lim went on to stress that he will have no truck with BN MPs who want to join forces with Pakatan Rakyat because this is an opportunity for them to make money or get other material gain, i.e. for “a pot of political porridge”, for this is clearly unethical, unprincipled and dishonourable which must be deplored by all right-thinking Malaysians.

“However, if BN MPs are motivated by noble principles of saving the country from further drift and loss of direction of the Barisan Nasional government and for the political, economic and national betterment of the people, their honourable and principled action to leave the sinking BN Titanic will surely gain the sympathy, support and respect of all Malaysians,” he contended.

  17. Dr Maximus said “enticing elected BN representatives to cross over so that Pakatan Rakyat could seize power was shameful, unethical and dangerous because it would create political chaos and economic strife”.
    --------------------------
Why should there be any "political chaos and economic strife" if UMNO-BN yield peacefully and go into opposition without causing any trouble itself? The only people who will create chaos are UMNO-BN if PR take over the government. So if UMNO-BN don't make trouble there will be no chaos.

As to economic strife, the economy of Malaysia will only imporve once equality is restored to the Chinese and the non-Malays and non-natives. The Malaysian economy surely will become more robust as the Chinese, the Indians, and other non-Malays and non-natives are allowed to unleash their creativity and initiative to expand the Malaysian economy for the benefit of all Malaysians regardless of race.

Therefore, the only trouble-makers in Malaysia are the corrupt UMNO-BN who having failed to create and maintain a just and prosperous society are now threatening to make trouble if overthrown. But overthrown they must be for Malaysian society to be just and prosperous. And it will be good riddance to bad garbage.

I thoroughly concur with Lim's noble ideals. It is fortunate that the public opinions can be easily estimated simply by the outpouring of opinions in the forums and blogs and public opinion polls. For example, the SAPP blog opinion polls clearly show that the people support leaving BN and joining PR. Therefore, it is not necessary to hold a new election to determine the will of the people since the will of the people is crystal clear.

  20. HIDUP MELAYU.
    Malaysiakini by Nat and Nik
    Polemik kaum
Buktinya jelas; Umno sendiri mengakui bahawa tiga puluh tahun selepas perlaksanaan Dasar Ekonomi Baru, sasaran-sasaran untuk pembangunan taraf ekonomi Melayu masih gagal dicapai.
    Hidup mewah

  21. Ahmad Ismail is not the only one in UMNO resorting to high pitched racist outburst. The whole nation awaits PM and his team's decision. In the meantime the article of RPK is worthy of attention.

  22. As reported in The Star today:-

Umno has suspended Bukit Bendera division chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail three years over his alleged racist remarks about the Chinese. As a result of the suspension, Ahmad will be stripped of all party posts and voting rights. He will remain an ordinary member however.

“If it is necessary, the ISA may be used on those who stoke racial tension,” said Pak Lah.

Questions by all rakyat Malaysia to our “blur, blur” PM today :-

    (a) What happen to the police investigations and outcome from the AG office on actions to be taken against Ahmad Ismail ? When AG is going to charge Ahmad Ismail under Seditious Act or let him go free because he is member of UMNO ? Where is JUSTICE for selective prosecution on who you know ?

    (b) Why no use ISA on Ahmad Ismail to put him behind bars for 2 years in Kamunting Camp to join the 5 Indians from HINDRAF ? What so special about Ahmad Ismail is above the Malaysia Law today?

    (c) A verdict of 3 years suspension on without portfolio post for Ahmad Ismail is small pinch on his hand or a minor slap on his wrist as compared with his serious severe racist remarks last fews days. Such verdict is considered a less effective since a serious stern action should be imposed on Ahmad Ismail as promised by Pak Lah.

Now Ahmad Ismail is just an ordinary member of UMNO without holding any post is free to create more havocs together with his supporters can cause security threat to the peaceful nation in Malaysia. All Malaysians are worried to know when Ahmad Ismail "Big Dirty" mouth will open again to insult another race in this holy Ramadan month.

    (d) Can Malaysians trust UMNO to lead BN again if no serious stern actions should be taken against Ahmad Ismail to keep him out of the streets like other 5 Hindraf members got locked up behind bars for 2 years ? Dont be suprised that Ahmad Ismail service is still require to perform his heroic racist remarks again after 3 years suspension is over to participate in 13th GE.
As mentioned by Ahmad Ismail said he will be back. Yes, the Empire Strike back in coming 13th GE ?

This 4 simple long questions are vital to be answered by Pak Lah and UMNO leaders if UMNO and BN want to win back the heart and soul of all Malaysians regardless of race, religion, creed and culture. Will BN willing to change today after Ahmad Ismail saga?

The Rakyat verdict is simple :

Ahmad Ismail is GUILTY, for his outburst racist remarks and sinful acts as follows:-

    (a) His racist remark by calling Chinese minority as "Pendatang or Immigrant" and dont deserved any equal rights in Malaysia.

    (b) His reference to Chinese people intention to grab political power like the American Jews since they monopolised the economy in Malaysia.

    (c) His claimed that UMNO is racist, MCA is racist, Gerakan is racist and MIC is racist, hence BN is a racist component parties. Therefore, people called him racist because he belongs to the racist parties.

“Ahmad Ismail” heroic saga has concluded today after few seconds of sandiwara judgement in PWTC. So what are the next hot political topics from BN and Pakatan Rakyat?

    ===========================

“The Gate to HELL already closed in August 08 but an Evil Guy was still left roaming around in Penang to cause more havoc on racist remarks. Can the Emperor of HELL takes him away forever and locked him up in HELL and stay out from Tanah Melayu Malaysia to keep our peaceful multi racial nation called Malaysia Boleh.” said a new Mummy from Heaven today.

  28. The REAL story of May 13 (part 1)
    Posted by Super Admin

They say those who forget history are doomed to repeat its mistakes. In light of the recent sabre-rattling by those in Umno and the warning by the Armed Forces Chief, Malaysia Today feels compelled to republish an old article by Raja Petra Kamarudin that was published in Harakah on 24 September 1999.

    NO HOLDS BARRED

    Raja Petra Kamarudin

This is Part One of an article I wrote almost nine years ago, which was published in Harakah, the official media organ of the Islamic Party of Malaysia (PAS). History is not something that should remain buried. History is something that should be a lesson to all or us so that we do not repeat the mistakes made by those before us.

In 1968, Umno fanned racial sentiments in a bid to 'unite' the Malays under its banner. Umno realised that the Malays were abandoning it in droves and it needed an issue to reunite the Malays. Further to that, the Prime Minister was being blamed for what Umno perceived as a loss of Malay support and the Young Turks in Umno wanted to also use this issue to pressure the Prime Minister into resigning.

Twenty years later, in 1988, Umno again went into turmoil with the emergence of Team A and Team B, which eventually split into Umno Baru and Semangat 46. Again, just like twenty years before that, the Malays had become disillusioned with the Umno leadership and there was a danger that Umno would suffer the same fate it did in 1969 if the general election was called.

The Umno leadership very cleverly got the Umno Youth and MCA Youth leaders to raise racial issues and bring the country to the brink of another ‘May 13’. This was when that infamous gathering at the TPCA padang in Kampong Baru was held and when Najib Tun Razak, the Umno Youth Leader, raised the keris and threatened to bathe it in Chinese blood.

Of course, this second ‘May 13’ never happened. What did happen instead was that Operasi Lalang was launched and more than 100 opposition leaders and activists were detained under the Internal Security Act. Najib and the MCA Youth Leader, Lee Kim Sai, however, were spared detention, although they were the two main players in the whole episode.

The ploy did not quite succeed though. In the 1990 general election, half the Malays swung to the opposition and Umno lost most of the Malay heartland to Semangat 46 and PAS.

Twenty years on and history is, again, being repeated. It appears like every twenty years Umno takes the country to the brink of a race riot in its effort to 'unite' the Malays and to ensure that it does not lose Malay support. And the 8 March 2008 general election, as well as the recent Permatang Pauh by-election, is proof that Umno has lost Malay support.

“The current situation is a repeat of 1969,” said Umno in its brainstorming session held at the Umno headquarters to conduct a post-mortem of the election results. “Therefore, a 1969 ‘solution’ will also be required.”

This is very dangerous talk indeed. And Umno has been doing nothing but talking dangerously since March 2008, as evident in the recent episode in Penang. Maybe the culprit has since been punished. Yesterday, Umno’s Supreme Council decided to suspend Ahmad Ismail for a period of three years. But the damage has already been done and the suspension can’t turn back the clock. Racial sentiments have already been fanned and Malaysia, again, is being pushed to the brink of a race riot.

Malays, Chinese and Indians need to know how May 13 started. They must be made aware of what May 13 was really all about. They must be made to realise that the current sabre-rattling is nothing but the same ploy that Umno used back in 1968 and 1988 whenever it felt that it was losing Malay support. May 13 was not about race although it is being touted as so. May 13 was about ‘reuniting’ the Malays and about ousting the Prime Minister from office.

To forget history would be to repeat its mistakes. Let us not be taken in by Umno’s shadow-play (wayang kulit). They know they are rapidly losing power and they want to retain power through foul means by raising the spectre of May 13. Malaysians need to be matured and clever enough to reject this ploy. Umno can try, but whether it can succeed will all depend on whether we get suckered into this very dangerous race game.

Let me take you down memory lane and recap what I wrote nine years ago so that we may learn from this dark history and not repeat what went wrong. As follows is what I wrote in Harakah on 24 September 2008.
    *************************************************

A REPORTER’S ACCOUNT OF AN INTERVIEW WITH TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN ON THE 13 MAY INCIDENT

The following statement is a factual account of the above-mentioned event given to me by the late Tunku Abdul Rahman (first Prime Minister of Malaysia) during an interview at his residence in Penang in 1972. I requested to discuss the above incident and was surprised when the appointment was given within three days.

His Secretary, a Chinese gentleman, allotted me one hour and advised me not to go into too much detail as this would tire the Tunku unnecessarily. In fact, the interview lasted three and a half hours. Because of the very surprising details provided to me, I think it would be best to report in a first-hand manner based on my notes written immediately after the interview.

“It was clear to me as well as the police that in the highly charged political atmosphere after the police were forced to kill a Chinese political party worker on May 4th, 1969, something was bound to happen to threaten law and order because of the resentment towards the Government by the KL Chinese on the eve of the general election. This was confirmed at this man’s funeral on the 9th May when the government faced the most hostile crowd it had ever seen.

Therefore, when the opposition parties applied for a police permit for a procession to celebrate their success in the results of the general election, I was adamant against it because the police were convinced that this would lead to trouble. I informed Tun Razak about this and he seemed to agree.

Now, without my knowledge and actually “behind my back”, there were certain political leaders in high positions who were working to force me to step down as a PM. I don’t want to go into details but if they had come to me and said so I would gladly have retired gracefully.

Unfortunately, they were apparently scheming and trying to decide on the best way to force me to resign. The occasion came when the question of the police permit was to be approved.

Tun Razak and Harun Idris, the MB of the state of Selangor, now felt that permission should be given, knowing fully well that there was a likelihood of trouble. I suppose they felt that when this happened they could then demand my resignation.

To this day I find it very hard to believe that Razak, whom I had known for so many years, would agree to work against me in this way. Actually he was in my house, as I was preparing to return to Kedah, and I overhead him speaking to Harun over the phone saying that he would be willing to approve the permit when I left. I really could not believe what I was hearing and preferred to think it was about some other permit. In any case, as the Deputy Prime Minister, in my absence from KL, he would be the Acting PM and would override my objection.

Accordingly, when I was in my home in Kedah, I heard over the radio that the permit had been approved.

It seems as though the expected trouble was anticipated and planned for by Harun and his UMNO Youth. After the humiliating insults hurled by the non-Malays, especially the Chinese, and after the seeming loss of Malay political power to them, they were clearly ready for some retaliatory action.

After meeting in large numbers at Harun’s official residence in Jalan Raja Muda near Kampong Bahru, and hearing inflammatory speeches by Harun and other leaders, they prepared themselves by tying ribbon strips on their foreheads and set out to kill Chinese. The first hapless victims were two of them in a van opposite Harun’s house who were innocently watching the large gathering. Little did they know that they would be killed on the spot.

The rest is history. I am sorry but I must end this discussion now because it really pains me as the Father of Merdeka to have to relive those terrible moments. I have often wondered why God made me live long enough to have witnessed my beloved Malays and Chinese citizens killing each other.”

This was a conspiracy at the highest level and nothing short of a power struggle, with the ‘Young Turks’ then forming the pressure group. To achieve their ends, they very cleverly used race to make the Malays rise and push the Tengku aside.

Today, they are doing it again. This is dangerous politics. It may backfire and, instead, it may make the Malays rise against the non-Malays, like what happened in 1969 -- a fire raging out of control with no fire extinguisher in sight.

We must never allow our country to be turned into a racial battlefield again. Let politics be issues concerning policies, civil rights, good governance and justice. Let us not allow anyone to bring race and religion into our politics lest we suffer the fate of many countries around us where mass murders of entire families are made in the name of ‘bangsa’ and ‘agama’.

    September 9, 2008 4:20 PM
    ---------------------------------------------

I am damn sure 110% Jamo is PTI with IC (Damn shit how the hell we are going to chase this PTI with IC from Sabah???). Pls read my previous comment which Jamo condemn me as my knowledge of sabah history is none. So does Jamo saying that PTI is sabah Native and not the KDM. Jamo must be working in the sabah state government now...enjoying all the benefit supposed be given to sabah bumiputra. I am not racial or religious extremist but the UMNO has made most of Malaysian hate the UMNO-Malay. All the benefits are exclusively for the UMNO cronies. Sorry to said that now the government staff in sabah (the younger generation, PTI) is useless...most sabahan without eyes also knows that how lazy and how slow they are(the PTI in Government agencies), breakfast also from 9am to 11am, corruption. For your info Jamo, most of your cousins in Indon are not extremist. Here every sunday I can watch mass services at 7am in the television and 11am for protestant. But in Malaysia the UMNO-Malay government is too extreme even the Allah Word also cant be used in the Churches, this is the one of example which makes the non-Malay to hate UMNO-Malay... One more info, currently the Malaysia wanted to ban all indonesia artist songs to be aired in Malaysia radio station, Indonesia peoples and artists had made joke on the malaysia decision as even malay in malaysia also dont listen to malaysian Malay artist. This has shown how Malaysian has become uncompetitive whether in Enterntainment industries or even economy. Pls think of it.
