Is it possible Pakatan's 916 plan becomes reality?

PKR supremo: I may have to defer Sept 16
Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim said he may have to defer his Sept 16 deadline to form a new government given that the Barisan Nasional had recently sent a large team of backbenchers to Taiwan on an agricultural study trip.

"We definitely have sufficient numbers (of MPs), but we would have to wait first as they are currently ‘enjoying Ramadan' in Taiwan," Anwar was quoted as saying by the Star newspaper.

The former deputy prime minister said he had information the members of parliament would not be allowed to return from Taiwan before Sept 16 in order to thwart his plans.

Anwar's Pakatan Rakyat alliance has 82 out of the 222 seats in parliament. The 61-year old had promised voters he would overturn the Barisan's currently held majority by inviting its MPs to defect to the Pakatan camp.

  2. Whether they are pulled to Taiwan to avoid the 916, it can always happen no matter where they are given the fact if there is an intention to defect BN.

  9. The day will come 916 or PRU13. 600 from bakun join PKR yesterday Thousands wanted to join. 29 BN division chiefs from negeri sembilan join PKR today. Even Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim join DAP. Doesnt he know politics better than us ordinary people. It is happening because they do not trust or have faith in the govt anymore. Even Sabah and Sawarak knows they get a fairer share because they holds BN by the balls. Unless you prefer to plant vege in your backyard in order to survive if you still have a backyard see what happens to the people of Bakun they even loose their home and their only hope now is PKR takes over that is why they choose to join PKR. No one is forcing anyone The choice are yours. You make your own destiny and also your children and your future generationsxo

Sabah PKR files ACA report on allegation of BN mps to Taiwan receiving RM50,000

    KOTA KINABALU, THURS:

The Sabah Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) lodged a report with the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) today over the allegation that each of the Barisan Nasional (BN) Members of Parliament who joined the study trip to Taiwan had received RM50,000.
Party Youth chief Abdul Razak Jamil filed the report at the state ACA office at 3.05pm.

“Although BNBBC (Barisan Nasional Backbenchers Club) deputy chairman Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin has denied the allegation, we don’t know the truth, so the ACA should investigate,” he told reporters after lodging the report.

He made the report based on Sarawak People’s Party (SAPP) president Datuk Yong Teck Lee’s statement in the local press on Tuesday that the MPs who joined the trip were given RM50,000 each. The two SAPP MPs, Datuk Eric Majimbun and Datuk Dr Chua Soon Bui, did not go on the trip.

The group left for Taiwan on Monday to study agricultural projects there and are scheduled to return home next Wednesday.

  12. AAB SUPRISED BY HIS SENIOR CABINET MINISTER WHO SPOKE IN SINGAPORE. HE IS ALSO VP OF UMNO.

Even in UMNO there are Team A, Team B, Team C and Team X (Ahmad-Mama of Penang)

Despite how Sabah and Sarawak are treated by UMNO-led BN, it appears that BN MPs of both states did not see the holistic pictures or are they "just let" AAB focus on Sabah/Sarawak and then neglect the actual ground where the scene will take place - Sun Tsu Art of War.

The 30 MPs will not be from Sabah/Sarawak BUT from West Malaysia. MPS from Sabah/Sarawak sudah ketiggalan zaman. The "Wind of Change" is in Malaya - where UMNO was born.

We Sarawakian and Sabahan are only "penumpang of passenger" in the film to be screened on 16 September 2008. The hero would be DSAI but the key supporting stars would be anybody's guess. Not Bung Moktar, Anifah, Ghafur Salleh. Nether will there be from Sarawak (Pehin Seri Taib is too strong for them!). He has kris sakti to make all Sarawak MPs kencing dalam seluar once he waive his kris sakti. People like Jabu, Mawan and Masing will lari keliaran!

  13. The REAL story of May 13 (part 1)
    Posted by Super Admin

They say those who forget history are doomed to repeat its mistakes. In light of the recent sabre-rattling by those in Umno and the warning by the Armed Forces Chief, Malaysia Today feels compelled to republish an old article by Raja Petra Kamarudin that was published in Harakah on 24 September 1999.

    NO HOLDS BARRED

    Raja Petra Kamarudin

This is Part One of an article I wrote almost nine years ago, which was published in Harakah, the official media organ of the Islamic Party of Malaysia (PAS). History is not something that should remain buried. History is something that should be a lesson to all or us so that we do not repeat the mistakes made by those before us.

In 1968, Umno fanned racial sentiments in a bid to 'unite' the Malays under its banner. Umno realised that the Malays were abandoning it in droves and it needed an issue to reunite the Malays. Further to that, the Prime Minister was being blamed for what Umno perceived as a loss of Malay support and the Young Turks in Umno wanted to also use this issue to pressure the Prime Minister into resigning.

Twenty years later, in 1988, Umno again went into turmoil with the emergence of Team A and Team B, which eventually split into Umno Baru and Semangat 46. Again, just like twenty years before that, the Malays had become disillusioned with the Umno leadership and there was a danger that Umno would suffer the same fate it did in 1969 if the general election was called.

The Umno leadership very cleverly got the Umno Youth and MCA Youth leaders to raise racial issues and bring the country to the brink of another ‘May 13’. This was when that infamous gathering at the TPCA padang in Kampong Baru was held and when Najib Tun Razak, the Umno Youth Leader, raised the keris and threatened to bathe it in Chinese blood.

Of course, this second ‘May 13’ never happened. What did happen instead was that Operasi Lalang was launched and more than 100 opposition leaders and activists were detained under the Internal Security Act. Najib and the MCA Youth Leader, Lee Kim Sai, however, were spared detention, although they were the two main players in the whole episode.

The ploy did not quite succeed though. In the 1990 general election, half the Malays swung to the opposition and Umno lost most of the Malay heartland to Semangat 46 and PAS.

Twenty years on and history is, again, being repeated. It appears like every twenty years Umno takes the country to the brink of a race riot in its effort to 'unite' the Malays and to ensure that it does not lose Malay support. And the 8 March 2008 general election, as well as the recent Permatang Pauh by-election, is proof that Umno has lost Malay support.

“The current situation is a repeat of 1969,” said Umno in its brainstorming session held at the Umno headquarters to conduct a post-mortem of the election results. “Therefore, a 1969 ‘solution’ will also be required.”

This is very dangerous talk indeed. And Umno has been doing nothing but talking dangerously since March 2008, as evident in the recent episode in Penang. Maybe the culprit has since been punished. Yesterday, Umno’s Supreme Council decided to suspend Ahmad Ismail for a period of three years. But the damage has already been done and the suspension can’t turn back the clock. Racial sentiments have already been fanned and Malaysia, again, is being pushed to the brink of a race riot.

Malays, Chinese and Indians need to know how May 13 started. They must be made aware of what May 13 was really all about. They must be made to realise that the current sabre-rattling is nothing but the same ploy that Umno used back in 1968 and 1988 whenever it felt that it was losing Malay support. May 13 was not about race although it is being touted as so. May 13 was about ‘reuniting’ the Malays and about ousting the Prime Minister from office.

To forget history would be to repeat its mistakes. Let us not be taken in by Umno’s shadow-play (wayang kulit). They know they are rapidly losing power and they want to retain power through foul means by raising the spectre of May 13. Malaysians need to be matured and clever enough to reject this ploy. Umno can try, but whether it can succeed will all depend on whether we get suckered into this very dangerous race game.

Let me take you down memory lane and recap what I wrote nine years ago so that we may learn from this dark history and not repeat what went wrong. As follows is what I wrote in Harakah on 24 September 2008.
    *************************************************

A REPORTER’S ACCOUNT OF AN INTERVIEW WITH TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN ON THE 13 MAY INCIDENT

The following statement is a factual account of the above-mentioned event given to me by the late Tunku Abdul Rahman (first Prime Minister of Malaysia) during an interview at his residence in Penang in 1972. I requested to discuss the above incident and was surprised when the appointment was given within three days.

His Secretary, a Chinese gentleman, allotted me one hour and advised me not to go into too much detail as this would tire the Tunku unnecessarily. In fact, the interview lasted three and a half hours. Because of the very surprising details provided to me, I think it would be best to report in a first-hand manner based on my notes written immediately after the interview.

“It was clear to me as well as the police that in the highly charged political atmosphere after the police were forced to kill a Chinese political party worker on May 4th, 1969, something was bound to happen to threaten law and order because of the resentment towards the Government by the KL Chinese on the eve of the general election. This was confirmed at this man’s funeral on the 9th May when the government faced the most hostile crowd it had ever seen.

Therefore, when the opposition parties applied for a police permit for a procession to celebrate their success in the results of the general election, I was adamant against it because the police were convinced that this would lead to trouble. I informed Tun Razak about this and he seemed to agree.

Now, without my knowledge and actually “behind my back”, there were certain political leaders in high positions who were working to force me to step down as a PM. I don’t want to go into details but if they had come to me and said so I would gladly have retired gracefully.

Unfortunately, they were apparently scheming and trying to decide on the best way to force me to resign. The occasion came when the question of the police permit was to be approved.

Tun Razak and Harun Idris, the MB of the state of Selangor, now felt that permission should be given, knowing fully well that there was a likelihood of trouble. I suppose they felt that when this happened they could then demand my resignation.

To this day I find it very hard to believe that Razak, whom I had known for so many years, would agree to work against me in this way. Actually he was in my house, as I was preparing to return to Kedah, and I overhead him speaking to Harun over the phone saying that he would be willing to approve the permit when I left. I really could not believe what I was hearing and preferred to think it was about some other permit. In any case, as the Deputy Prime Minister, in my absence from KL, he would be the Acting PM and would override my objection.

Accordingly, when I was in my home in Kedah, I heard over the radio that the permit had been approved.

It seems as though the expected trouble was anticipated and planned for by Harun and his UMNO Youth. After the humiliating insults hurled by the non-Malays, especially the Chinese, and after the seeming loss of Malay political power to them, they were clearly ready for some retaliatory action.

After meeting in large numbers at Harun’s official residence in Jalan Raja Muda near Kampong Bahru, and hearing inflammatory speeches by Harun and other leaders, they prepared themselves by tying ribbon strips on their foreheads and set out to kill Chinese. The first hapless victims were two of them in a van opposite Harun’s house who were innocently watching the large gathering. Little did they know that they would be killed on the spot.

The rest is history. I am sorry but I must end this discussion now because it really pains me as the Father of Merdeka to have to relive those terrible moments. I have often wondered why God made me live long enough to have witnessed my beloved Malays and Chinese citizens killing each other.”

This was a conspiracy at the highest level and nothing short of a power struggle, with the ‘Young Turks’ then forming the pressure group. To achieve their ends, they very cleverly used race to make the Malays rise and push the Tengku aside.

Today, they are doing it again. This is dangerous politics. It may backfire and, instead, it may make the Malays rise against the non-Malays, like what happened in 1969 -- a fire raging out of control with no fire extinguisher in sight.

We must never allow our country to be turned into a racial battlefield again. Let politics be issues concerning policies, civil rights, good governance and justice. Let us not allow anyone to bring race and religion into our politics lest we suffer the fate of many countries around us where mass murders of entire families are made in the name of ‘bangsa’ and ‘agama’.

The one thing we can agree,is UMNO/BN has press the panic button, long before 916.What you see before you today are bankrupt politicians/leaders,uncertain as to what is hitting them.Pakatan's plan becoming a reality, you better believe it,be 916 or 920.

Why all the fuzz?If the imminent changes are inevitable for a better and vibrant Malaysia, why should we question that reality?Instead,we should be supporting this reality in ensuring a better future for the generations to come. Why harp and protect an existing regime, that has damage, raped, robbed, hoodwink and violated the sacred trust,we once bestowed upon them.

My fellow Sabahans and Malaysians, ask not what your country can do for you,but what you can now do for your country.Pass this message to your MP's and tell them to listen to the voices of the very people who put them there.

We believe, the agenda by Pakatan is crystal clear, let us not make the same mistake we regretted making.

  20. Is it important if DSAI's plan of change materialized on 916? We should not forget it's a political struggle in which both sides try to outwig one another. There are 1016, 1116, leading to the D-Day on PR13 if all the previous attempts fail. The Malaysian public should ask themselves if they are happy with the current state of the economy, shrinking value of the ringgit, corruption, selective prosecution, racial overtone of certain politicians, etc? They are the final arbiter.

Quote from mysinchew.com at the link above:

“Government prosecutors said Wednesday they wanted to transfer the case to a higher court because it had attracted widespread interest, including from international observers.

Anwar’s lawyers objected, saying the current judge was sufficiently qualified. The court will hear formal arguments from both sides Sept. 24 before making a decision.”
    ===============================

Well, well. This is interesting. The object of UMNO is to arrest Anwar and put him in jail so that he can be “out of sight, out of mind” and be forgotten by the Malaysian people and his opposition to UMNO will then disintegrate. Therefore, if it can put Anwar away, UMNO will surely go for an early trial. The only reason why UMNO has called for a delay is that it feared the judge may throw the case out for lack of prima facie evidence. Then the whole thing would be over and Anwar would gain even more prestige and charisma.

I’ve always thought there is no real evidence that would substantiate the charge of sodomy. And it is a distinct possibility that the judge would throw the case out for lack of credible evidence. Now that UMNO has requested a delay, the probability of the case being dismissed for lack of credible evidence is apparently increased. Now, UMNO is just delaying the trial so that the threat of proving Anwar guilty can hang over him for as long as possible because as soon as the trial began it will be thrown out and Anwar will gain even more prestige and power and support.

The entire civilized world is condemning this travesty of justice. Especially, the US has condemned this violation of Anwar’s human rights. So UMNO has to pay attention to what the Americans say for fear of provoking serious attacks from them. And not the least, the Malaysian judicial system has been under serious criticism for corruption. So the court apparently is reluctant to try a case that is clearly a blatant case of frame-up. So the probability that the government will win the case is vanishingly small. Hence, the seemingly meaningless ploy of delaying the trial. But if Anwar can overthrow the UMNO-BN government before Sept. 24, then it is for sure that the new government will withdraw the charge and his ordeal will be over in the blink of an eye.

Looks like UMNO is out of tricks to play. In the end, the only way to gain the support of the people is by instituting a just and efficient government. Politicians who perpetrate dirty tricks to eliminate their opposition will inevitably be recognized by the people to be crooks and be overthrown.

Apparently what is crystal clear to normal people is not clear to jomosama obviously because of a defective mind.

The PR peoples are not the 'rejects' from BN. Lim Kit Siang was never part of BN as far as I know. Anwar was obviously framed and jailed by Mahathir. But that does not mean he is inferior. For instance, Singapore was 'rejected' by UMNO. But Singapore went on to become economically and militarily superior to Malaysia. And as Singapore became superior to Malaysia, so will Anwar become superior to UMNO. This is obvious as Anwar and PR are poised to kick UMNO-BN out of the government. So jomo-joker can bandy words for all he wants, but in the end it will be PR who laughs last.

  24. The funniest thing I've ever seen in world politics is what UMNO is doing now in trying to "hide" their BN MPs in Taiwan to get them out of the "clutches" of PR. It is like a squirrel hiding its nuts in some holes in a tree. But in the end, the MPs must return and then they will all get together with PR and jointly announce their conversion and at the same time boot UMNO-BN out of the government. That is, if their is still a BN left by then.

I think this silly childish maneuver will go down in the human history as the silliest and the most inane and ultimately pointless political ploy that any political party had ever played.

Please wake up...we must change now or we will be doom...Even now we can see what UMNO has done to sabahan...they make sure all the state/federal government staffs are from this so call sabah malay (origin is PTI), can we see any KDM in state government now? The only KDM people working in government are all above 45 years old, all the younger generation is in government is all MUslim malays (PTI). I have been applying for government work after graduated 6 years ago but unable to get any offer. Now I have to work in Indonesia to cari makan and many of younger generation of sabah native has to work in oversea like singapore, brunei, china, indonesia as we are unable to work in state government. Our CM also is bangali not the native from sabah. Do u think we dont have no competent native leader in sabah??? The competent native leader is now being sideline by the older generation leader like pairin, max, but PBS is a dog to UMNO and not relevant anymore. Now let us change the government in Sabah, let us chase UMNO out of sabah once and for all.

    ----------------------------------
I am damn sure 110% Jamo is PTI with IC (Damn shit how the hell we are going to chase this PTI with IC from Sabah???). Pls read my previous comment which Jamo condemn me as my knowledge of sabah history is none. So does Jamo saying that PTI is sabah Native and not the KDM. Jamo must be working in the sabah state government now...enjoying all the benefit supposed be given to sabah bumiputra. I am not racial or religious extremist but the UMNO has made most of Malaysian hate the UMNO-Malay. All the benefits are exclusively for the UMNO cronies. Sorry to said that now the government staff in sabah (the younger generation, PTI) is useless...most sabahan without eyes also knows that how lazy and how slow they are(the PTI in Government agencies), breakfast also from 9am to 11am, corruption. For your info Jamo, most of your cousins in Indon are not extremist. Here every sunday I can watch mass services at 7am in the television and 11am for protestant. But in Malaysia the UMNO-Malay government is too extreme even the Allah Word also cant be used in the Churches, this is the one of example which makes the non-Malay to hate UMNO-Malay... One more info, currently the Malaysia wanted to ban all indonesia artist songs to be aired in Malaysia radio station, Indonesia peoples and artists had made joke on the malaysia decision as even malay in malaysia also dont listen to malaysian Malay artist. This has shown how Malaysian has become uncompetitive whether in Enterntainment industries or even economy. Pls think of it.

  37. Teresa Kok, Tan Hoon Cheng, and Raja Petra arrested under ISA:

So, the “brave” UMNO had arrested 2 “fearsome” female “terrorists” who supposedly will destroy the “harmonious” Malaysian society. If for nothing else, this proves the loathsome and despicable nature of UMNO. Instead of investigating and arresting Ahmad Ismail for causing the destabilizing uproad over his racist remarks, the UMNO had arrested Tan Hoon Cheng for reporting the truth. In a prior example, I had likened Ahmad Ismail to an arsonist and Hoon Cheng to a witness who yelled fire. And sure enough the scumbag UMNO has let the arsonist go free while arresting the witness who tried to help by yelling fire.

I hope all Chinese and non-Malays will rally together to demonstrate and protest this gross and despicable attempt to intimidate the ethnic Chinese and other non-Malays.

I hope a defense fund will be quickly set up for all three people arrested - Teresa Kok, Tan Hoon Cheng, and Raja Petra. These people had done what they can to help restore equality and justice for all Malaysians in general and the Chinese in particular. It is now our duty to help them anyway we can. So go out and demonstrate and protest if you can. If not, then contribute to their defense fund to defeat this UMNO reign of terror.

If one or two persons go out and demonstrate then the police will quickly arrest them. But if hundreds of thousands and hopefully millions of people demonstrate all across Malaysia, then the police cannot arrest them all. And hopefully such expression of general outrage will bring down this UMNO reign of terror once and for all.

It should also tell MCA, Gerakan and other Chinese BN components that they could no longer ally themselves to UMNO-BN because they will certainly be spat on by the Chinese for helping the UMNO Malays to oppress the Chinese. Time for MCA and Gerakan and other Chinese components of BN to make up their minds to convert to PR and do one good thing after betraying the Chinese for 45 years.

  38. The whereabout of the 40 odd BN MPs cast doubt on the real purpose of visiting Taiwan. Some of them are now in Macau, while a few are said heading for China on business trips. Their tenure as MPs is the Parliament. They have to come back sooner or later to make their final choice. Don't they?

  41. Anwar: We've more than 31 defectors

Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim said today he had signed up more than 31 defectors needed to form a new government and called on Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi not to impose emergency rule to thwart a takeover.

"We have a slight majority, it is in excess of 31," he told a packed press conference held at 2pm in the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya.

Anwar, however, did not reveal the list of the lawmakers but had asked to meet with Abdullah to discuss a transition of power and was prepared to show him the list of defectors.

"We name them now and they get harassed immediately. So I'm telling you now that I will choose to confide in the prime minister.

"And if he wants the list I will show the list at the meeting. Until the right opportune moment, we can't declare. We know how the system operates," said Anwar.

Abdullah has rejected Anwar's claims as "political lies" and ruled out resigning, but the opposition leader urged him to accept a peaceful handover.

The prime minister did not rule out a meeting earlier today, but his spokesman Kamal Khalid said it was unlikely.

"I doubt very much he will be meeting with Anwar," he told AFP.

However, Abdullah said in his constitutency of Kepala Batas this afternoon that he would not entertain Anwar's request to meet him until the list of defectors is made public.

Ministers are on the list too

Anwar urged the government not to arrest his new ministers under draconian Internal Security Act, or declare a state of emergency in an attempt to prevent him from seizing power.

His Pakatan Rakyat alliance - made up of the PKR, DAP and PAS - now holds 81 out of the 222 seats in Parliament. Its rival, the Barisan Nasional coalition led by Abdullah's Umno party, currently has 140 seats.

To overthrow the Barisan, Pakatan would need another 31 MPs to join its camp for it to hit 112 seats, the minimum simple majority required.

Anwar also said that many BN MPs were keen to join him in forming a new government.

"It keeps increasing by the hour... seriously. I'm not joking. This morning, I received a signed note from another member. What do you want to know? You want to know if we have the numbers. We've the numbers!" he added.

He revealed that these included cabinet members and their deputies.

The 61-year old Anwar, who has been in talks with a number of disgruntled backbenchers, also said he wants Abdullah's assurance the power transition could proceed smoothly.
