Non-racial politics (revisited)

Racial extremism, is it what you want?

In the run-up to the Permatang Pauh by-election, Ahmad Ismail had said at a ceramah that the Chinese community were mere "squatters" in the country and thus were not entitled to be given equal rights in Malaysia.

Ahmad, who has refused to apologise for describing the Chinese as squatters in the country while campaigning in the recent Permatang Pauh by-election, claims his speech was taken out of context by the Sin Chew vernacular newspaper, which reported the incident in its Aug 25 edition.

Sin Chew stressed that Tan in her nine years of as a reporter has covered various political conferences and speeches and “no mistakes were ever made” in her writing.

(Sep 8): In an explosive 50-minute press conference, Ahmad vowed that he would not apologise for his remarks which sparked the controversy. The press conference, which was held at the Penang Umno headquarters, ended with shouts of 'Hidup Melayu' from about 50 local party leaders who were there.

Soon after the event, former Penang Umno committee member Zainol Abidin Hashim, with the help from his colleagues pulled down the photo of Gerakan acting president Dr Koh Tsu Koon which adorned one of the walls in the party headquarters. Koh's picture frame, which sat next to the photos of the Penang governor and his wife, was subsequently smashed.

As the glass broke into pieces, Zainol removed Koh's photo from the frame and tore it into half.

  1. Pakatan to dump NEP if it seizes power.

Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim reiterated he would dismantle the controversial New Economic Policy (NEP) if he seizes power.

That's good for a start! Come on disgruntled or marginalised MPs, this is the time for change for the better..prepare yourselves for more positive changes...and the people are strongly behind you all.

    ----------------------------

If this is true, then it is certainly to the benefit of all non-bumis to support Anwar. Even the non-Malay bumis and the average Malays themselves should support Anwar in this very wise legislation. As many had pointed out, the KDMs are being marginalized in Sabah in every respect from the declining proportion of their population to religion to government jobs to jobs in the marketplace and so on. Only full equality will guarantee that the KDM will not be marginalized till they lose everything. Furthermore, only a fully equal society will encourage foreign investments to come into Malaysia in general and Sabah in particular as well as to encourage the best brains in Malaysia and Sabah not to leave thus preventing brain drain and capital flight.

As I said many times, the natives don't need special rights to earn higher incomes but a robust economy and a clean government. And only a fully equal society will produce a robust economy and a clean government.

If Anwar can get rid of the NEP, then he would have laid the first corner stone to achieving a dynamic Malaysian society that could ultimately catch up with Singapore to give all Malaysians incomes of 100,000 ringgits per year per worker. Otherwise, if NEP continued unchanged, then all Malaysians will eventually see the economy collapse as oil runs dry and the economy collapse down to the level of Indonesia whose workers earn no more than a couple of thousand ringgits per year.

  3. It has been pridicted that Malaysia will need to import oil within 3 to 5 years. And all oil and gas will probably be depleted within 15 to 20 years. Malaysians thought their timber will never be depleted. But it has now mostly depleted and cannot grow back for at least a couple of hundred years. Oil, once depleted, will never grow back. Not even after a million years. So Malaysians better start looking for a new way to keep the economy afloat. And the only way is by implementing a clean government and an equal society that will encourage foreign investment and encourage the smartest and richest Malaysians to stay in Malaysia.

The situation is actually dire. There is no time to lose. It takes a long lead time to consolidate and lay the ground work before an economy can start expanding. This means if the Malaysians want a source of economic stimulus to replace oil, then they had better start now. And they need to start by getting rid of such unjust legislations as the NEP.

  4. It seems that ever since the 1997 Asian Financial crisis, the Malaysian/BN government has been relying on “Operational Spending” to float the Malaysian economy. In economic terms it is called “pump priming”. Without it, our economy might fall into the recession or even worse depression.
Although such move is advocated by the Keynesian school of economics, the fact that it has been going on for the last 13 years makes every Keynesian economists very uncomfortable. By right, after 2 or 3 years, the government does not need to spend anymore to push the Malaysian economy back to health.
The fact that we are recording deficits 13 years in a row is also a very telling sign that all our spending is not helping the economy very much.
To make matters worse, the rate of spending increases exponentially year by year as the chart above shows. In short, money is being thrown out by the Malaysian government, but very little is being shown in terms of returns. The fact that our economy still relies on pump priming after 13 years shows that our economy is sickly.

Why isn’t the Pump Priming Working

    Simple.

The money being spent does not go to the right people. They go to cronies and UMNOPUTRA. These UMNOPUTRA contractors does not use the money to run a legitimate business. They use the contract and then award them again to another contractor but a lower price. They pocket the difference and then they move on to the next contract.
The money these UMNOPUTRA pockets are not circulated in the Malaysian economy as it remains in their bank accounts. If it had been in the hands of legitimate businessman, the money would have been recycled back into circulation in the form of salaries, capital expenditures and not to mention employment.

  5. What makes it so difficult for the Bukit Bendera Umno Chief to just admit his wrongs and apologize?
    ..............................
    Malaysia tetap Malaysia...

  6. We are witnessing all the umat Islam(malay just one small portion out of many ethnics)in the world fasting for Ramadhan! This is a good teaching and practice in Islam and for sure other religion too have its own practice for which is meaningful to humans to reconcile individual conduct.
If as a muslim or either he was one can't accept what coming out of the mouth may affect harmony of multi-Rs in our lovely Malaysia then it is sadness for efforts so spent to say out loud to the world malaysian are all "bersepadu".
It may be fair to take this as a lesson and of course this guy can have his full confess in this Ramadhan but then what is so shame to your wrongs and apologize!
Proudness on particular race will not have appreciation of any moderate beings on earth. We are born here and thus it is by God-Tuhan(or Allah)'s will to respect everyone to have contribution to call ourself malaysian.
So have every regard of "salam selamat dan berbudi baik "for observing bulan Ramadhan.

  7. Professor Samuelson - Economic Theory.

INPUTs > OUTPUTs > MUTIPLIER EFFECTs

    In Malaysia:

INPUTS = RMbillion goes to UMNO cronies and the beggars (MCA, MIC, GERAKAN)

OUTPUTS goes to the cronies pockets to buy votes and live in lavish styles (porch cars, "istanas", expensive enternmain, and so forth)

RESULTS - poor get poorer, cost of living jumps to an imaginable level but the cronies of UMNO deplete tax payer money. Oh Tuhan SELEMAT KAN RAKYAAT DARI PENINDASAN!

  16. On Tuesday, Najib publicly apologised for the racist remarks made by Bukit Bendera Umno division chief Ahmad Ismail.

"Is Najib next to apologise for the rank racism of BTN in purveying similar communal poison in its indoctrination courses?" asked Lim in a posting on his blog.

The issue was exposed in a letter to Lim by an outraged parent, which read:

I would like to bring to the attention of Najib the pain endured by the young non-Malay JPA (public service department) scholars who are required to go through a five-day BTN programme at certain camps in the country. To be fair, many moderate Malay students too cried and were hurt by some racist comments made by the instructors.

As part of the course, which is mandatory before they are sent overseas, all non-Malays are segregated and given lectures on the history of the country and how the immigration of the Chinese and Indians had taken place. And finally how the Chinese and Indians were given citizenship. The Malays too had their own similar sessions.

The instructors blatantly told them that they should not question the rights and privileges of the Malays as the non-Malays should be thankful that they were given citizenship status and a place to stay on their soil. My daughter together with the other non-Malay students was shocked and went back to their dormitories depressed. And to the Malay students, the instructors told them to be aware of this fact and not to mix too freely with the non-Malays.

A Malay friend of my daughter came back crying to the dormitory saying that she could not take the racist position taken by the government authority. My daughter then began questioning the bumiputra policy and was disgusted with such blatant indoctrination. This incident has also made the students harbour anger and resentment. Their fear for the authorities and losing their scholarships made them keep their cool. I am not exaggerating here - ask all the JPA students to write in anonymously and you will know the truth.

These are young minds being polluted with racism. Tens of thousands of students have gone through this programme and more will be attending it in the future. So can you blame them when they exhibit their racist tendencies when in authority? How could the JPA allow such a syllabus for the cream of the nation, who will one day be entrusted to implement government policies fairly?

So, will Najib take responsibility for the racist syllabus and subsequently the racist remarks and apologise to the tens of thousands of students and parents who were hurt by such hurtful remarks? Of course knowing the BN government, it will deny this. Believe me, this is the absolute truth.

My call to Najib is to immediately probe into this claim with the help of a multi-racial team of officers from Suhakam but please maintain the anonymity of the young children who have everything to lose.

Meanwhile, Lim said BTN's 'racist' indoctrination course is a great disservice to both Malay and non-Malay JPA scholars as well as to Malaysian nation-building, the Merdeka social contract, the Malaysia Agreement, Rukunegara, Vision 2020 and Bangsa Malaysia.

"It is time that BTN's racist indoctrination courses be exposed and all true Malaysians, both Malays and non-Malays, are invited to expose such extremist excesses and communal poison in BTN indoctrination courses as a prelude for its total revamp if not abolition," he added.

  17. Kit Siang questions Ahmad’s silence

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP Ipoh Timor MP Lim Kit Siang has questioned why there has been no public response from Bukit Bendera Umno division chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail over his racist statement against Malaysian Chinese.

Lim asked whether Ahmad, who has shown no contrition or remorse since he made the remarks nine days ago, was fully confident that he had the mainstream support of Umno leaders and members, encouraging him to show contempt for the nationwide furore.

Saying Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s apology on behalf of Ahmad was “inappropriate, inadequate and unacceptable”, Lim said the apology could not be acceptable if Ahmad continued to be defiant and unrepentant.

“Even if he tenders an apology, the question of its adequacy will arise, following the precedent set by the Cabinet in the Wee Meng Chee case over his Negaraku rap video-clip last year, when the Cabinet rejected Wee’s apology as inadequate,” Lim said in a statement yesterday.

Lim said Najib should apologise on behalf of himself as Najib had failed to reprimand Ahmad immediately after he made the remarks during the Permatang Pauh by-election ceramah on Aug 24, where Najib was present.

  20. Datuk Ahmad Ismail's racial outburst will not be the last one knowing how BN particularly UMNO handled many similar cases in the past. One parent in this blog exposed the whole BTN program that heightens such a racial divide, and reinforce our doubt Ahmad has the gut to apologise. In constrast, DSAI has shown the way how he magnanimously pronounced his readiness to treat all Malaysian equally and fairly if PR Coalition comes to power. He and his PR Coalition have only one class of audience irrespective of race. We are thankful of Permatang Pauh voters who voted him back to Parliament after 10 years political wilderness.

  26. Dont have to listen to me but you can listen to what Tun Dr. Lim Keng Yaik has to say below pick from www.themalaysianinsider.com.my/index.php/malaysia/8459-keng-yaik-its-all-money-money-money-money-money

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 3 — If it was put to a vote today, Gerakan members would choose to leave Barisan Nasional. That damning verdict was given by Tun Dr Lim Keng Yaik, the party's former president and most influential voice.

But he added that this major decision will not be made until the issue has been debated exhaustively, and certainly not while emotions are still raw in the party which was decimated in Election 2008.

Still, the Umno and BN leadership should be prepared for the exit of Gerakan, judging by his pungent and pessimistic reading of the political situation.

In a wide-ranging interview with Off the Edge, the politician, who has made a living out of shooting from the hip, paints a grim picture of Umno, a party incapable of change and reform.

Worse yet, he did not think the party's current or next generation of leaders are enlightened. During the interview, he sketched the underlying reasons for Gerakan's and Barisan Nasional's dismal performance in Election 2008.

"We had the worst kind of Umno arrogance as a result of the 2004 elections. The abuse of power, corruption, negotiated tenders with government tenders going mainly to Umno-associated companies. All this is not decided by the Cabinet but by the Ministry of Finance. You think people don't know. Prices are jacked up and there is no check on the implementation of these projects.

"And then you had the Umno assembly and everyone saw how racist its members can become. All these things put us as a component party in a very difficult situation. And then Hindraf came into the picture. So we knew before going into March 8 that it was very bad, '' he said.

Dr Lim alleged that money politics culture in Umno also had an impact on the general elections, saying that all new Gerakan candidates were given "hell by the Umno divisional chairmen''.

"It's all money, money, money, money, money, '' he noted.

So has Umno understood the message which voters sent them on March 8?

"I don't think so. Or maybe they are too preoccupied with their own party elections to come around to thinking and analysing what happened. But I think, being racially based, they think they can still turn the Malay votes. So the first thing they did was talk to Pas, '' said Dr Lim

    Guess that says it all

Not A Better World Today If One Allowed To Be That Arrogant & Extreme

It is really bad instead of apology yet continue emotionally to repeat again very worst racist conduct in TV news & media publicly to discriminate, undermine and mention about personal misjudgement on malaysian chinese in this country here during colony history and independence period as “pedatang” favoured by british uncall forth with opinion of hatre and jealousy over melayu! This is taking no account of contribution by those other than melayu and loudly said this land as “tanah melayu” belongs to melayu is very racially arrogant.

History in honour of effort and struggle accorded for our ancestor together till today in past 52 years for independence to form Malaysia had been swept under the carpet as totally here. There seems of giving non-mutual respect in this over racial and radical comment for other minority malaysian too as in common sense here.

Thus it’s time all positive and mindful non-racial leaders and MPs irrespective of political background should request a motion to be passed in emergency to establish system for future a “book of record” to blacklist this type of racist applying restriction rules as article enforced by law to penalise their racist misconduct. As suggestion one measure may to restrict them from sharing malaysian citizen beneficiary of any kind and ban from participating in any decision making activities related to country development or post as well for any racist one. To get one for his unwilling apology or take him to jail may not mould one to think positive with more sense or more in having positive respect in harmony towards other races as malaysian!

A log-book to check any bad conduct is much better to remind our future generation about living in harmony. This change has to be made and not giving way as future unity of all and every malaysian is in our hands now.

This is not again treated as politically manned by anyone or party but fault about one individual weakness and negative mindset for together in harmony!

Any non-racist leader be it chinese or other races hardly can accept this, right?

  31. Do this for RPK, please
    September 5, 2008

You would have read news reports that more police reports were made against RPK today.

And going by what we’ve seen of late, more charges may follow.

RPK says he doesn’t give two hoots anymore.

    Which is why we must.

And what RPK needs now more than ever is a judiciary that’s going to hear and decide the present and any more charges leveled against him in accordance with law, free of any outside influence.

You’ve all probably signed the petition to His Majesty the Agong with regard to the appointment and promotion of judges pending the setting up of the Judicial Appointments Commission, if it ever does under the present administration.

If you havent, clicking on the image below will take you straight to the petition. Please give us your support.

The total number of signatures as at 10.12pm tonight stands at 20,772.

The plan is to deliver the petition to His Majesty on or about 15th September. That’s not very far off.

Folks, put our judiciary in order and many of the ills we see around us will slowly start to self-correct.

People who should not be charged will get acquitted.

People who should get convicted will get convicted. Corrupt politicians, civil servants, police, no-one will be immune.

Shoddy prosecutions will be judicially exposed. No cover-ups in the courts.

Unconstitutional laws will be judicially declared as such.

Fundamental liberties will be judicially defended.

    The list is endless.

Pak Lah is not serious about reforming the judiciary , no matter what he says. He is presently living out what little time he has left in high office.

You and I, working with our King, can restore the judiciary.

Our King must know that there are large numbers of us who will stand with him.

Between today and 10th September, could we each try to get another 10 persons to sign up. Call or e-mail friends and relatives. Offer to sign up for those whom you know and who have no access to the internet.

    http://www.petitiononline.com/6ai18u26/petition.html

sms the url of the petition to as many people as you can, requesting that they sign on and similarly forward that sms to everyone they know.

Ask them to do this for RPK.

You, too, please do this for RPK.

RPK won’t ask, so I will.

What we need is a change to see how it works out. If Umno still continued until these 5 years, they will destroy you all one by one, and once they gain full malays support...you'll see...living nightmare!!!

  34. THE REAL REASON WHY PM BADAWI DOESN'T WANT TO TAKE ACTION AGAINST AHMAD ISMAIL - MALAYSIAKINI

DPM Najib says sorry already - Malaysiakini

$I just caught this news on Malaysiakini
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is also Umno deputy president has issued a public apology over a remark made by Bukit Bendera Umno division head Datuk Ahmad Ismail (picture right) during the Permatang Pauh parliamentary by-election last month. However, leaders of various political parties here said that the apology by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak should have come from Bukit Bendera Umno division chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail himself.

Ahmad Ismail himself remains unrepentent. PM Abdullah Badawi (picture above left) tried to come to Ahmad Ismail's defence saying that Ahmad did not mean what he said and added that the remark was made 'in the heat of the moment'. However, the Chinese community and even BN Chinese based component parties were not satisfied. Faced with theprospect of giving up the Federal Government to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his Pakatan Rakyat Alliance, DPM Najib Razak has apologized on behalf of Ahmad for Umno.

This Scribe was curious as to why the BN/Umno leadership were so afraid to take action against Ahamd Ismail for his deditious remark. After doing a Sherlock Holmes, this Scribe begin to get the big picture. It appears that Ahmad Ismail is a big time Umno warlord in Penang.
Ahmad Ismail was cleared of bankruptcy by the Insolvency Department in 2006. Ahmad Ismail is the figure linked to the controversial PORR project in Penang. He is the director of Peninsular Metroworks Sdn. Bhd., the concessionaire for the project. Ahmad is an influential Umno divisional leader and former Penang Chief Minister Koh Tsu Koon was beholden to him for support. That was why Koh was powerless when Ahmad Ismail a mere Umno division leader could wield so much influence over him and accused him of not paying attention to the Malays in Penang. The CM’s former constituency of Tanjong Bungah happens to be in the Bukit Bendera division.

It gets more interesting here, The Scribe discovered that PM Abdullah Badawi was named as a director of Yayasan Bumiputra Pulau Pinang, who owns 34% of the PMW share via two wholly-owned companies, Kumpulan Pinang and Kumpulan Perhubungan. Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi is linked to the Penang Outer Ring Road (PORR) project’s concessionaire company, Peninsular Metroworks Sdn. Bhd. (PMW) According to corporate information obtained from the Companies Commission of Malaysia, Abdullah (I.C. No.391126-07-5077) was first appointed director of the Yayasan Bumiputra Pulau Pinang Sdn. Bhd. His name is still listed as a director.Yayasan Bumiputra now controls 34.78 percent of PMW through its two subsidiary companies; Kumpulan Pinang Holding Sdn. Bhd. and Kumpulan Perhubungan Sdn. Bhd.

This was a result of restructuring of the ownership equity in PMW. The shareholders areas follows:
Kumpulan Pinang Holding Sdn. Bhd. (222310-D) 10,000 share

Lingkaran Tanjung Sdn. Bhd. (676910-W) 340,000 share

    Setegap Berhad (107232-X) 12,750 share

Kumpulan Perhubungan Sdn. Bhd. (60597-A) 1,190,000 share

Nadi Senandung Sdn. Bhd. (381079-U) 1,897,250 share

Setegap Berhad is a construction company listed on Bursa Malaysia.Lingkaran Tanjung (formerly known as Jasminata Sdn. Bhd) was registered on 30.12.2004 and its registered address is at Suite 2.01, Tingkat 2, Wisma K.P.Loh, No 42 Jalan Besar, Kajang, Selangor. There is no information on the nature of its business and its financial standing. Sources said the directors are related to Datuk Ahmad Ismail.

Major shareholder, Nadi Senandung is principally controlled by Datuk Ahmad Ismail via a dormant company, Cedar Heights Sdn. Bhd. (267289-U). From the web of ownership structure and list of directors, it has confirmed DAP’s allegation that the PORR project is a classic example of Umno’s crony capitalism. Peninsular Metro-Works Sdn Bhd, would be given not just the profitable toll collection for 30-years, but also properties belonging to Penangites amounting to 31 hectares of prime Penang State land (why?). It would also gained 202 hectares of reclaimed land off Gurney Drive. The value of the total package? It’s approximately RM5 billion, not just the RM2 billion we’ve been led to believe.

Nadi group's power structure: Dato Haji Ahmad Bin Ismail > Goh & Foo >> Loo or Chua. If the PORR concession is awarded to PMWSB, Nadi which controls 54.5% of PMWSB will effectively control the Board and the PORR project. But Cedar's Board will make the decisions, because Cedar controls 85% of Nadi. Cedar, in turn, is controlled by Dato Haji Ahmad Bin Ismail (30%), City (29.3%), and Nagasari (20%). Among these three Cedar shareholders, Dato Haji Ahmad Bin Ismail holds the largest power because, if disagreement arises, he only has to forge an alliance or agreement with either one of City or Nagasari to exceed 50% voting rights (To be precise, In the case of an alliance with Nagasari he will need another two shares).

In contrast, if either of City or Nagasari disagrees with him, each will need two other alliances, including one major shareholder, to reach 50% voting rights. Between the last two, City is far more powerful than Nagasari, because of its 29.3% vs Nagasari's 20%, but also because the latter's shareholders are split into two equal-weight of 47.5% (Loo and Chua), while City is owned by Goh and Foo of the same address, which is assumed to mean close relations or associates who would be expected to vote together. City's two major shareholders are also directors at Cedar.

It doesn't matter that the total attributable stake to Dato Haji Ahmad Bin Ismail (13.9%) is smaller than to Goh Choon Aun and Foo Quin Yar (together 21.2%), or Setegap's 25.5%, or KPHSB's 20%. Simply because Cedar will dominate the Board of Nadi, which will dominate the Board of PMWSB, those who dominate Cedar will hold sway.

The State and Federal civil servants will have to answer the questions: How do you expect 20%-shareholder KPHSB to play a more useful role in the financially much more demanding PORR project and Peninsular Metro-Works Sdn Bhd, considering KPHSB's apparent inability to contribute to Jelutong Expressway? And if there is a high risk that Peninsular Metro-Works Sdn Bhd will not be adequately supported by its financially weak shareholders, why should PMWSB be awarded the PORR concession, particularly without an open, competitive bidding process?

That's the reason why PM Badawi, Najib and the rest of the BN/Umno leadership are just giving Ahmad Ismail a slap on the wrist over this seditious remark. Don't be surprised if Liow Tiong Lai, Ong Ka Ting, Ong Ka Chuan Ng Yen Yen, Chor Chee Heung, Koh Tsu Koon, Chia Kwang Chye et al will come and say to the Chinese community to accept Najib's and Umno's apology while heaping praises on the Umno leadership for their 'courage' in apologizing.

  35. If I not mistaken, Chinese community are even earlier than Malay community arrived at Sabah, so can we say Malay community were mere "Immigrants" in Sabah and thus were not entitled to be given Bumis rights in Sabah? The answer is NOT.

We will not called Malay community as "immigrants" in Sabah even this is historical FACT. This is because we are non-racial people and love peaceful, respect each races should be treat equally in the same country.

Penang opposition leader: Reporter should be shot
    By Adib Zalkapli

GEORGE TOWN, Sept 5 - Penang opposition leader Datuk Azhar Ibrahim, who was at the press conference to show support for Bukit Bendera Umno head Datuk Ahmad Ismail, criticised the reporter from the Chinese newspaper who allegedly twisted Ahmad's words during the Permatang Pauh by-election campaign.
However, the state Umno secretary did not name the reporter but claimed that only one Chinese publication reported Ahmad's statement.

"What was written may lead to a racial riot. If such a thing happens, he is the first person that should be shot," he said to loud cheers from Umno supporters who packed the meeting room at Menara Umno here.

Azhar also called on the police to investigate the reporter to find out the truth.

"This issue was blown out of proportion just because of one idiotic reporter. Why should anyone believe him... did he ask Datuk Ahmad for an explanation," he said.

"Did he just write or record the speech? If there is a recording, he should show it to us... this is not a small matter," said the Penaga state assemblyman.

Journalists who were present at the press conference expressed shock with Azhar's comment but vowed not to be intimidated.

"It is a form of intimidation, but the threat will not change the way I do my work," said Low Chia Ming of Malaysiakini's Chinese edition.

Kwong Wah's Ang Yee Shuan also agreed. "I wasn't there at the rally, but I am sure there were other media representatives who can back the report," she told The Malaysian Insider.

Only Chinese newspapers reported Ahmad's remark at the rally on Aug 23 in Kampung Pelet near Bukit Mertajam.

Earlier, Ahmad said the reporter should apologise to every Malay and Muslim in the country for inciting racial hatred.
    ==========================

"What was written may lead to a racial riot. If such a thing happens, he is the first person that should be shot," he said to loud cheers from Umno supporters who packed the meeting room at Menara Umno here.
    --------------------------------------------------------------
This is the kind of twisted mentality that got UMNO held in contempt by rational peoples. If an arsonist set fire to a house and a witness sounded the alarm, do you arrest and punish the arsonist or do you arrest and punish the person who sounded the alarm? Obviously, all rational people will say arrest the arsonist for setting the fire. In this case, the racist crime was committed by Ahmad Ismail first which is comparable to the arsonist setting the house on fire. The reporter subsequently reported on the racist comment which obviously the public has the right to know which is comparable to the witness of the arson sounding the alarm. Therefore, Azhar Ibrahim has got the thing turned around. He should be condemning Ahmad Ismail for making the racist remarks in the first place and not to threaten the reported for reporting the racist remarks which as a reporter he is supposed to do. It is a common saying in all cultures that if you don't want people to know about your crime, then don't commit it in the first place. If you committed a crime then people will know about it. In this case, if Ahmad Ismail didn't want reporters to report his racist remarks, then don't make the racist remarks in the first place.

If the Malays as a race don't want to be accused of racist crimes against the non-Malays, then the best advice they can get is stop committing the racist crimes. Abolish the dogma of ketuanan Malayu and repeal the NEP and treat all races of Malaysia as fellow citizens who have the common interest of building a rich and secure nation for the benefit of all.

For 45 years, the Malays have been accustomed to threaten the non-Malays with bloody krisses whenever they demanded equality. The Malays took it for granted that they can accuse non-Malays of sedition for destabilizing the "harmony" of Malaysia and threaten them with jail terms if anybody even hinted that there is inequality. But the time has changed. All decent peoples of Malaysia, including many moderate Malays, are sick and tired of this racist hypocrisy that only trick the Malays into supporting the racist UMNO but in the end made all Malaysians poor and the Malaysian government corrupt. And the poorest segment of the Malaysian society is still the common Malays who don't have the connection to get multi-billion ringgit projects.

PETALING JAYA: Sin Chew Media Corporation Berhad will stand by its reporter who wrote the story about Bukit Bendera Umno chief Ahmad Ismail’s alleged racist statements.

Its chief editor Pook Ah Lek said the newspaper would not apologise as it had done nothing wrong.

“It is a normal tactic by politicians to look for a scapegoat when they are under attack. It is just something he is doing to divert attention,” said Pook.

  39. The Dirty Dozen from Bolehland

A Ranking of the 12 Most Evil Persons in Malaysia

    (The people have short memories)

Who are the most evil and corrupt men and women in Malaysia? Here is a listing of the Dirty Dozen.

Besides the top dog, the list includes his dark knights, from the Attorney-General to the Chief Justice, judges, the head of ACA, the Election Commission chief and inspector-general of the police force.

    1. Mahathir Mohamed

The Father of Corruption/Usurper of Democracy

He had practically destroyed all the institutions of democracy in Malaysia. Corruption and cronyism flourished under his rule to an extent never before seen. Like a leader who corrupted all those under him, most of the people holding high office in the country were corrupt and beholden to him. Slowly but surely Mahathir's rule of corruption, cronyism and public-milking privatization had lowered the standard of living in Malaysia and making life harder for the ordinary citizen who would have to pay the ever increasing corruption tax. He is undoubtedly number one in our countdown as the most despicable man in Malaysia even though he has retired.

    2. Daim Zainuddin

A rapacious robber baron whose greed is boundless.

His low profile belied the immense power he wielded in his hands as the former finance minister under Mahathir and he had used his power to amass fabulous wealth. A brazen attempt to force merge the country's banks to increase his share of banking assets to dangerous levels was aborted only because Umno needed Chinese votes to win the elections. However, billions of ringgit in frozen Clob shares fell prey to his greed when badly treated foreign investors had to pay him a cut to get their shares released. His economic plunder helped to keep the Mahathir regime in power and fueled the money politics that the party machinery was running on.

    3. Mohtar Abdullah

A legal thug best describes this totally repulsive man.

For sheer gusto in carrying out Mahathir's nefarious designs, Mohtar Abdullah had no equal. He turned the office of the A-G into a dictator's tool of oppression to drag to court perceived political critics and enemies. With the Chief Justice to select the proper judge to hear the case, he just couldn`t lose. Lim Guan Eng felt the brunt of his legal thuggery for merely criticizing his non-action over the statutory rape of a schoolgirl by powerful politician Rahim Thamby Chik. This evil man was not above fabricating evidence to secure convictions when real evidence was hard to come by in cases where innocent people were dragged to court. He has since died. Will his soul rest in peace?

    4. Eusoff Chin

He sat on the bench to ensure its subservience to Mahathir

When the country's Chief Justice is corrupt what can you expect of the judicial system? Eusoff Chin had been photographed holidaying in New Zealand with highly successful lawyer V.K. Lingam who had never lost a case in Eusoff Chin's court. Eusoff' was used by Mahathir to select suitable judges to hear important cases and to lean on judges to deliver the 'correct' judgement. Any judge whose judgement displeased Eusoff was bound to find himself packing for a posting in a backwater place and his career immediately stunted. Under this shady perverter of justice, the judiciary had won a smelly reputation locally and abroad as being thoroughly compliant to the executive.

    5. Kadir Jasin

His newspapers were the propaganda machine of the ruling party

As Group Managing Director of the New Straits Times Press and running dog of Mahathir, his role in corrupting minds was far-reaching indeed. This sycophantic editor who once called for foreign journalists to be arrested under ISA for reporting the truth tried to mould public opinion by hiding the excesses of the ruling party and heaping undeserved praise on corrupt leaders to keep them in power. The strategies used included biased opinion pieces, omission of all negative reporting of the establishment, public airing of unsubstantiated allegations against political opponents without right of reply, sycophantic adulation of the prime minister, reporting only the negative points of the opposition and playing them up, outright lying and filtering foreign viewpoints for the favourable comments only.

    6. Augustine Paul

A monster judge rode roughshod over all principles of jurisprudence to convict Anwar.

Augustine Paul was handpicked to do a specific dirty job, that is to find Anwar Ibrahim guilty of some fanciful trumped-up charges. Anxious not to disappoint his political masters on his first important assignment, he proceeded to trample truth and justice in his courtroom in the crudest possible manner. He ran a banal kangaroo court which was so blatantly biased that it will forever shame the nation in the eyes of the world. The way that Paul bulldozed the flimsy prosecution's case through while suppressing material evidence from being aired speaks of a pure unadulterated evil. He held the future of the nation in his hands but he chose to sell his soul to the devil for a pittance. What a wrethched man!

    7. Omar Mohammad

With a corrupt man at the helm, the last bastion of democracy fell to Mahathir

He was the Chairman of the Election Commission which is tasked with the job of conducting the general election every 5 years. When all checks and balances have been removed in the administration of the nation by a corrupt and abusive government, the general election is the last bastion of democracy and the final check and balance to a power hungry dictator.

This is in theory but the sad reality is that even the Election Commission had been corrupted by Mahathir. The 1999 election was anything but free and fair. A massive 650,000 newly registered voters who were generally perceived as critical of the government were not allowed to vote on the shaky premise that it took the EC a mind boggling nine months to register them. The EC also failed to correct the stirring of racial and religious fears by Barisan Nasional politicians to garner votes. It was simply subservient to Mahathir.

    8. Ahmad Zaki Husin

An agency to flush out corruption or to clean the corrupt?

Ahmad Zaki was the Director-General of the Anti-Corruption Agency. Under Mahathir this body had become severely degraded and impotent in the eyes of the public as a blindfolded toothless tiger when going after the big fish was concerned. The ACA then and to date has frequently been abused as a weapon to investigate and pull down political opponents apart from not initiating cases of corruption in high places.

The ACA's most celebrated failure was its inability to conclude investigations into the Perwaja Steel case and bring charges against Tan Sri Eric Chia who lost frightening billions of rinngit for the steel giant under suspicious circumstances. This is despite a devastating auditor's report which detailed fraudulent financial transactions with dummy companies. It also sank into a listless stupor over Anwar's four police reports with documented evidence against political bigwigs. On the other hand, the ACA suddenly sprang to life over Datuk Murad's unsubstantiated allegations of billions in Anwar's 'master accounts' although it had managed to dig up nothing.

The ordinary citizen pays the price of big time corruption in higher prices of utilities and goods and the wastage of public funds.

    9. Ling Liong Sik

He is the epitome of a village headman bought over with money and whisky to keep the natives in line. Simply a disgrace to the Chinese community.

This political hack and lackey was only interested in maintaining the status quo while he went about the serious business of gathering wealth. And what an embarrassment of riches it has been with his son coming from nowhere to be an instant multi-millionaire at the age of 27. On issues affecting the Chinese, you will not find this timorous leader speaking out whether it was the Nipah virus devastating the pig industry, non-acceptance of Chinese High School Certificates or criticism of too many Chinese movies in Astro. In fact, he was ready and willing to accept erosion in Chinese rights to maintain his personal position. A fine example being his declaration that TAR college would not be upgraded to university status. It must be a bitter irony to the Chinese that this bogus leader who claims to represent them was always elected from a Malay dominated electorate. Subsequent leaders too within the MCA have always stood in rural majority Malay heartland constituencies riding on the BN banner and yet unashamedly claim to represent the Chinese. What a farce!

    10. Samy Vellu

Architect of the MAIKA Telecom shares scandal, Samy Vellu proves that corruption pays in Malaysia, so does crime.

After 28 years of Samy Vellu at the helm of the MIC, Indians continued to remain economically backward and left behind in Malaysia's economic growth. Trapped in a vicious cycle of poverty, they have no financial, commercial or industrialized structure, marginalised in every economic field and in danger of becoming an underclass. His shinning achievement was the extension of Kamunting Berhad's concession to collect toll at Jalan Kuching despite expiry of the concessionery period and the company having recouped many times its original investment. And let's not forget Samy Vellu's role in hijacking MAIKA's Telecom shares to three unknown companies controlled by his proxy in 1990 thus depriving the agency entrusted with uplifting the economic well being of the Indians of an estimated RM70 million in profits.

    11. Rahim Noor

The Chief of Police turned out to be a lawless thug but he beat one prisoner too many

Rahim Noor was the Inspector-General of Police serving Mahathir faithfully by misusing the police force until he was forced to resign after beating up former deputy prime minister, Anwar Ibrahim, in prison. After shaming the police force and the nation he did not resign until his repulsive action was about to be exposed by a Royal Commission of Inquiry. Under him the police were high handed and oppressive, sometimes summarily executing criminals and beating up people in detention to the point of death. The Special Branch was in charge of fabricating evidence from the dungeons of their confession factory with Muslim intellectual Munawar Anees as their most famous guest. Throughout Munawar's affidavit we were given a horrifying glimpse of torture Malaysian style.

    12. Ummi Hafilda Ali

She plays a virgin in the light but needs no urging in the night

Disowned by her family and revealed as a scheming, manipulative, evil woman, she was the ideal person to be used by corrupt politicians in their conspiracy to destroy Anwar. Totally without conscience, she was a cesspool of immorality which made her the darling of like-minded Umno politicians. She is nothing more than a modern day Delilah.

So here we have a rogue's gallery of the worse that Malaysia can produce. Working in co-operation with each other under the tyrant, they ensured that Mahathir, his family and his cronies continued the feast of corruption, cronyism and nepotism at the expense of ordinary Malaysians.

'He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.' Proverbs 28:13

"The Chinese were indeed squatters at that time," said Ahmad.

  44. Journalists: He did say it

Two reporters covering the event in which Bukit Bendera Umno division chief Ahmad Ismail made the alleged racist remarks during the Permatang Pauh by-election, claimed that they clearly heard what he said.

They also said they were shocked and felt very uncomfortable after hearing Ahmad's utterances.

According to MySinchew online, Guang Ming Daily reporter Li Weihua related that after covering the first event of Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak on the night in question, he went on to cover the DPM's second event, in which he clearly heard the ‘penumpang’ remarks uttered by Ahmad Ismail.

Li said he was shocked by what was being said.

He said Najib had not yet arrived when he reached Kampung Belah Dua that evening. However, Ahmad Ismail was already giving his speech. As he was not very familiar with the speaker at that time, he did not pay too much attention to what he was saying.

Li went on, "But later he (Ahmad) raised his voice louder and louder, and suddenly I heard this: 'Orang Cina cuma tumpang di sini sahaja.' (The Chinese are only squatting here)"

He said after hearing this, he was very shocked and understood how sensitive the remarks could be.

    Heard very clearly

Nanyang Siang Pau reporter Chen Minghao also said that when he was at Kampung Belah Dua to cover the event, he heard very clearly Ahmad Ismail's ‘penumpang’ remarks, and felt very uncomfortable with it.

He said after covering Najib's first event, he rushed to Kampung Belah Dua to cover his second event. However, when he reached there, Najib had not arrived yet and Ahmad Ismail was already addressing the crowd on the stage.

Chen said although he did not know who Ahmad Ismail was at that time, he heard very clearly that he said, 'Orang Cina cuma tumpang di sini sahaja,' and he felt very uncomfortable with what was being said.

Ahmad announced in Penang today that he would be suing Sin Chew Daily and a reporter for quoting him out of context in his speech that night.

Sin Chew has stood by its report on Ahmad Ismail's remarks.

Of course, I’ve been banned from many forums for “inciting racial hatred” for saying this. I’m glad, therefore, to see that other Malaysians are now saying what had been obvious for decades. Malaysians must face their demons head-on before they can exorcise it. Ketuanan melayu and NEP are neither social contract nor affirmative action. They are just racist travesties that are directly against the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights and must be abolished immediately.

  53. DSAI and his PR coalition have already said it loud and clear that they will scrap the NEP if they form the next Federal Government, because it has not helped the Malays it was originally meant to achieve. The 12th General Election on 8 of March and the recent Permatang Pauh by-election have shown that both Malays and non-Malays are receptive to DSAI's call for a new policy to replace the much abused NEP under BN.

  58. The best thing for the rest of Malaysia to do is not take the bait of this bigot, chauvinist and scare-monger and all the hate-filled garbage that was spewed out by the Bukit Bendera Umno division chief at a press conference in Penang today.

He had one aim in calling a press conference today – his second since he set off a political maelstrom by describing Malaysian Chinese as immigrants on the eve of the Permatang Pauh by-election. It was not to diffuse the racial tension as requested by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi but to incite more anger among the races and stoke the fire of resentment among Malays.

Emboldened because the prime minister and Umno president had not pulled him up and believing even this latest infraction would go unpunished, he set out to taunt the Chinese by telling them that they would never attain political power in the country.

When he completed the task of trying to instill fear, he then attempted to play the role of inciter, urging the Malays to stand firm, not back down and attend a convention in a show of force.

What Ahmad and his ilk are seeking to do is create enough hatred between the races and hope that groups go outside the bounds of democracy to settle issues. They want street demonstrations. They want mob rule.

Why? Because since March 8, they have become political nobodies in Penang.

No positions. No stature. Zilch. They cannot accept the fact that Pakatan Rakyat rules the state, the beneficiary of support from Malays, Chinese and Indians. They cannot accept the fact that they don't command respect outside the confines of their own party. They cannot accept that Umno is now the subject of ridicule and condemnation.

They want a return to the old days. And they only know one way of achieving that goal – by stoking trouble between the races.

No reason for the rest of Malaysia to follow their game plan.

  63. To Ahmad Ismail,
Below written is the historical fact..get your facts right!

    Kuda Ranggi said...

  64. Why Ahmad became a racist.
1st thing: permatang pauh by-election, when he felt the need to arouse racial sentiments to win the malay votes. He made his calculation, the malays have the majority, don't care about the chinese, you get the malays majority, you can win.

He knew that PKR has the 3 major races backing him, so he knew the chinese and indians will definitely back Anwar because PKR is multiracial party, not like Umno, a malay extremist party.

When his words were reported in the press, he went into hiding for 11 days to think of a way to twist the issue around, and so he emerged with a plan, which nearly got the PM involved. The DPM, oh! Got shamed by this racist bigot.

So the only way to make himself a hero, he started the reverse kick!

Now, we are waiting how his reverse turn kick have any effect to the current situation which needs to be curbed at all cost.

In light of the recent sabre-rattling by those in Umno and the warning by the Armed Forces Chief, Malaysia Today feels compelled to republish an old article by Raja Petra Kamarudin that was published in Harakah on 24 September 1999.

    NO HOLDS BARRED

    Raja Petra Kamarudin

This is Part One of an article I wrote almost nine years ago, which was published in Harakah, the official media organ of the Islamic Party of Malaysia (PAS). History is not something that should remain buried. History is something that should be a lesson to all or us so that we do not repeat the mistakes made by those before us.

In 1968, Umno fanned racial sentiments in a bid to 'unite' the Malays under its banner. Umno realised that the Malays were abandoning it in droves and it needed an issue to reunite the Malays. Further to that, the Prime Minister was being blamed for what Umno perceived as a loss of Malay support and the Young Turks in Umno wanted to also use this issue to pressure the Prime Minister into resigning.

Twenty years later, in 1988, Umno again went into turmoil with the emergence of Team A and Team B, which eventually split into Umno Baru and Semangat 46. Again, just like twenty years before that, the Malays had become disillusioned with the Umno leadership and there was a danger that Umno would suffer the same fate it did in 1969 if the general election was called.

The Umno leadership very cleverly got the Umno Youth and MCA Youth leaders to raise racial issues and bring the country to the brink of another ‘May 13’. This was when that infamous gathering at the TPCA padang in Kampong Baru was held and when Najib Tun Razak, the Umno Youth Leader, raised the keris and threatened to bathe it in Chinese blood.

Of course, this second ‘May 13’ never happened. What did happen instead was that Operasi Lalang was launched and more than 100 opposition leaders and activists were detained under the Internal Security Act. Najib and the MCA Youth Leader, Lee Kim Sai, however, were spared detention, although they were the two main players in the whole episode.

The ploy did not quite succeed though. In the 1990 general election, half the Malays swung to the opposition and Umno lost most of the Malay heartland to Semangat 46 and PAS.

Twenty years on and history is, again, being repeated. It appears like every twenty years Umno takes the country to the brink of a race riot in its effort to 'unite' the Malays and to ensure that it does not lose Malay support. And the 8 March 2008 general election, as well as the recent Permatang Pauh by-election, is proof that Umno has lost Malay support.

“The current situation is a repeat of 1969,” said Umno in its brainstorming session held at the Umno headquarters to conduct a post-mortem of the election results. “Therefore, a 1969 ‘solution’ will also be required.”

This is very dangerous talk indeed. And Umno has been doing nothing but talking dangerously since March 2008, as evident in the recent episode in Penang. Maybe the culprit has since been punished. Yesterday, Umno’s Supreme Council decided to suspend Ahmad Ismail for a period of three years. But the damage has already been done and the suspension can’t turn back the clock. Racial sentiments have already been fanned and Malaysia, again, is being pushed to the brink of a race riot.

Malays, Chinese and Indians need to know how May 13 started. They must be made aware of what May 13 was really all about. They must be made to realise that the current sabre-rattling is nothing but the same ploy that Umno used back in 1968 and 1988 whenever it felt that it was losing Malay support. May 13 was not about race although it is being touted as so. May 13 was about ‘reuniting’ the Malays and about ousting the Prime Minister from office.

To forget history would be to repeat its mistakes. Let us not be taken in by Umno’s shadow-play (wayang kulit). They know they are rapidly losing power and they want to retain power through foul means by raising the spectre of May 13. Malaysians need to be matured and clever enough to reject this ploy. Umno can try, but whether it can succeed will all depend on whether we get suckered into this very dangerous race game.

Let me take you down memory lane and recap what I wrote nine years ago so that we may learn from this dark history and not repeat what went wrong. As follows is what I wrote in Harakah on 24 September 2008.
    *************************************************

A REPORTER’S ACCOUNT OF AN INTERVIEW WITH TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN ON THE 13 MAY INCIDENT

The following statement is a factual account of the above-mentioned event given to me by the late Tunku Abdul Rahman (first Prime Minister of Malaysia) during an interview at his residence in Penang in 1972. I requested to discuss the above incident and was surprised when the appointment was given within three days.

His Secretary, a Chinese gentleman, allotted me one hour and advised me not to go into too much detail as this would tire the Tunku unnecessarily. In fact, the interview lasted three and a half hours. Because of the very surprising details provided to me, I think it would be best to report in a first-hand manner based on my notes written immediately after the interview.

“It was clear to me as well as the police that in the highly charged political atmosphere after the police were forced to kill a Chinese political party worker on May 4th, 1969, something was bound to happen to threaten law and order because of the resentment towards the Government by the KL Chinese on the eve of the general election. This was confirmed at this man’s funeral on the 9th May when the government faced the most hostile crowd it had ever seen.

Therefore, when the opposition parties applied for a police permit for a procession to celebrate their success in the results of the general election, I was adamant against it because the police were convinced that this would lead to trouble. I informed Tun Razak about this and he seemed to agree.

Now, without my knowledge and actually “behind my back”, there were certain political leaders in high positions who were working to force me to step down as a PM. I don’t want to go into details but if they had come to me and said so I would gladly have retired gracefully.

Unfortunately, they were apparently scheming and trying to decide on the best way to force me to resign. The occasion came when the question of the police permit was to be approved.

Tun Razak and Harun Idris, the MB of the state of Selangor, now felt that permission should be given, knowing fully well that there was a likelihood of trouble. I suppose they felt that when this happened they could then demand my resignation.

To this day I find it very hard to believe that Razak, whom I had known for so many years, would agree to work against me in this way. Actually he was in my house, as I was preparing to return to Kedah, and I overhead him speaking to Harun over the phone saying that he would be willing to approve the permit when I left. I really could not believe what I was hearing and preferred to think it was about some other permit. In any case, as the Deputy Prime Minister, in my absence from KL, he would be the Acting PM and would override my objection.

Accordingly, when I was in my home in Kedah, I heard over the radio that the permit had been approved.

It seems as though the expected trouble was anticipated and planned for by Harun and his UMNO Youth. After the humiliating insults hurled by the non-Malays, especially the Chinese, and after the seeming loss of Malay political power to them, they were clearly ready for some retaliatory action.

After meeting in large numbers at Harun’s official residence in Jalan Raja Muda near Kampong Bahru, and hearing inflammatory speeches by Harun and other leaders, they prepared themselves by tying ribbon strips on their foreheads and set out to kill Chinese. The first hapless victims were two of them in a van opposite Harun’s house who were innocently watching the large gathering. Little did they know that they would be killed on the spot.

The rest is history. I am sorry but I must end this discussion now because it really pains me as the Father of Merdeka to have to relive those terrible moments. I have often wondered why God made me live long enough to have witnessed my beloved Malays and Chinese citizens killing each other.”

This was a conspiracy at the highest level and nothing short of a power struggle, with the ‘Young Turks’ then forming the pressure group. To achieve their ends, they very cleverly used race to make the Malays rise and push the Tengku aside.

Today, they are doing it again. This is dangerous politics. It may backfire and, instead, it may make the Malays rise against the non-Malays, like what happened in 1969 -- a fire raging out of control with no fire extinguisher in sight.

We must never allow our country to be turned into a racial battlefield again. Let politics be issues concerning policies, civil rights, good governance and justice. Let us not allow anyone to bring race and religion into our politics lest we suffer the fate of many countries around us where mass murders of entire families are made in the name of ‘bangsa’ and ‘agama’.

  73. Dr M misses the point in Ahmad Ismail issue

Dr Mahathir Mohamad has added a new spin to the Ahmad Ismail - he has said that Indian and Chinese leaders should also apologise over other issues. In the case of the Hindraf, he said so many unfair allegations including claims of "ethnic cleasing" and "Islamic terrorists" were hurled against the Malays and yet no one demanded apologies from the community. He also cited the case of student Wee Meng Chee who made a parody of the Negaraku but his actions were defended by Chinese leaders. I think Dr Mahathir has forgotten that Wee made an apology, organised by the MCA, but it was rejected by the Cabinet. In short, Wee admitted wrong and the MCA took the trouble to organise the press conference. Even his father apologised. In the case of the Hindraf leaders, some are still being detained under the ISA. In the case of Ahmad Ismail, the DPM, wanting to end the controversy, took upon himself to apologise. He was supported by the PM. Dr M may have overlooked another point - no one is asking the PM, DPM or Umno to say sorry. They just want Ahmad Ismail, one person, to admit his wrong, Others have demonstrated remorse and in the case of Hindraf leaders, being jailed.
It involves an individual, who should be responsible for his remarks, so there is no reason for Dr M to widen the issue, by dragging in the communities at large and sharpen the racial tones. Let's keep it to Ahmad Ismail. As a statesman, Dr M should cool down the temperature, not make it worse, or just to score political points against the leadership.
