In accordance with the economics of the allocation of scarce resources to maximum effect, SAPP aims to achieve economic prosperity and financial self-reliance for Sabah.
Wealth must be created before it can be distributed. The engine of growth is the business community.
The business community must be empowered and enabled to generate economic growth through investments, trade and innovation and productivity.
We save for the future and invest in economic production.
SAPP has confidence that Sabah can once again become the premier state in Malaysia.
Until the RM544 million bond (loan) taken by the Sabah State Government two years ago, the Sabah Government had zero private borrowing. Even at the height of the Asian Financial Crisis from 1997 to 1999, Sabah had remained resilient without having to take out any loans.
All repayments to the Federal Government were on schedule, meaning that there were no arrears. Sabahans, over the years and in spite of four changes of State governments, have managed to stay clear of taking private loans or falling into arrears to the federal treasury. If you do not believe me, you can ask the most successful Finance Minister of Sabah, Datuk Hj. Mohd Noor Mansoor.
The RM544 million bond taken by this State Administration two years ago is a now burden to be borne by the next government. The bond is like spending tomorrow's money today.
SAPP promises that, upon the retirement of this bond in 2015 and the retirement of this Chief Minister this year, the Sabah State Government shall not take any more sovereign loans that is actually a direct risk to the State Treasury.
My own experience as Chief Minister from 28 May 1996 to 1998, which was in the midst of the Asian Financial Crisis, taught me that economic resilience is most important in sustaining a nation. For those who have forgotten, the Asian Financial Crisis from 1997 to 1999, which started as a Thai Baht problem, eventually brought down the Indonesian government leading to the independence of East Timor. Korea came under the International Monetary Fund. Hong Kong's financial sector went into free fall. Malaysia was forced to impose currency controls and recapitalize and then merge the banks. Asian stocks markets and currencies went haywire. The social, economic and political impact on ordinary people were serious.
China, which was only just emerging as an international economic player, had to come up with US1 billion to help ASEAN countries stabilise their economies.
As a member of the National Economic Action Council (NEAC) chaired by the Prime Minster and as chairman of the Sabah Economic Action Council formed specifically to face the Asian Financial Crisis, I participated in the crisis management of the time. I learned that Sabah must be economically prosperous, have huge reserves to face any future crisis and be financially self-reliant.
We have to depart from the culture of wealth distribution to wealth creation.
With the support of the people of Sabah and a strong mandate for SAPP, the new government of Sabah will bring new hope and a better Sabah for all Malaysians in Sabah...click here to view book on economic plan

I am extremely impressed together with your writing talents as well as with the structure on your blog. Is that this a paid subject or did you customize it yourself? Either way stay up the excellent high quality writing, it is rare to see a great blog like this one today.
ReplyDeleteUntuk kebaikan Sabah, as a rakyat mestilah saya sokong:)
ReplyDeleteBut make sure the Economic Plan is not an empty talks otherwise kesian rakyat mengharap benda yang takda:(
ReplyDeleteThe people should know better how to differentiate sweet talks and actual plans, don't be easily fooled.
Deletejika ia hnya sekadar plan tapi tiada pelaksanaan, tidak ada gunanya.
DeleteThey have to win in order to fulfill the plan.
DeleteWhatever it is, all the best and lets people decide :)
ReplyDeleteSaya konfiden next GE nanti pasti sengit.
ReplyDeleteKalau undi pecah, apa yang sengitnya nanti..
DeleteSo mari kita buat pilihan yang bijak supaya takda lagi timbul kekesalan. Pastikan yang diundi itu adalah yang terbaik.
ReplyDeletesounds like a good plan to me.
ReplyDeletegood plan but how about the implementation?
DeleteI've seen what prosperous ventures for Sabah that SAPP has taken once, and the results are a big mess.
ReplyDeleteInteresting selling point, but I'm sure the people will remember what exactly happened during the duration from 28 May 1996 to 1998.
DeleteEnd of the day, its the people will have the final say as to whom is more eligible to be given the mandate in the upcoming GE-13
ReplyDeleteSAPP's Economic Plan is simply....I don't know how to say.
ReplyDeleteIt is normal for the opposition to promise the moon and the stars because they know they cannot rule and they are not in government
ReplyDeleterakyat only have belief with the opposition if their promise can be fulfilled.
DeleteTalk is cheap. The difficult one is to implement them.
DeleteGaban, this economic plan is not about promising the moon...I see it being a realistic and achievable plan...in fact an excellent one.
ReplyDeleteSAPP Economic Plan is a realistic one? Why 2012?
ReplyDeleteI believe that the people actually want(or at least tried)to support SAPP but they just couldn't. Back then when sabah was under YTL, there were issues.I'm sure everyone remember what happend during YTL time as the CM.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be better for YTL to rest and let other be SAPP president.
Deletewe only appreciate something when we already lose it. that's how YTL this time.
DeleteSo far I know, there is nothing wrong with YTL...he has helped many during his short tenure as a CM. It is only yong's enemies who have tried to poison the people with half-truths. Yong has been consistent all through the years for fighting for the people of Sabah...so why NOT Yong?
ReplyDeleteSabah need good leaders like YTL who is compassionate and always care about the people's interest. Most importantly he and his team dare to fight the giants.
ReplyDeleteThey need to have a very good cooperation and tolerance, otherwise the result is negative.
DeleteThis economic plan is a sustainable economic long term plan for Sabah. How can YTL implement the economic plan when he was only 2 years as Sabah CM?
ReplyDeleteYou ask any superman in the world also cannot do it including you JACK!!!!
Sepatutnya tempoh penggiliran dipanjangkan sedikit. Baru nampak perubahan.
DeleteIf only unselfish people let SAPP govern Sabah, then they will see a lot of changes. If they just let UMNO and BN control Sabah then we cannot see the light of the tunnel, forever doomed by federal umno politics of discrimination and suppression of our people and their economy..
ReplyDeleteHopefully Sabah can once again become the premier state in Malaysia as outlined in the article.
ReplyDeleteLet us hope the economic plan will be implemented and bring about the long awaiting change in Sabah.
ReplyDeleteI wish every candidate the best.
ReplyDeleteLet our decision make a difference….so vote wisely.
ReplyDeleteWhatever economic plan is made, it is important we see them in action.
