Sabah MyKad issue: 'Umno-BN doesn't care'

A Barisan Nasional MP's 100-page memorandum to the Home Ministry, complete with documented evidence to prove that foreigners in Sabah have gained Malaysian identification documents through dubious means, is a "wasted effort" and merely "window-dressing".

"It's unlikely to upset the Barisan Nasional applecart in the general election because as far as Umno-BN is concerned, it is a non-issue... they don't care," said Sabah Progressive Party deputy president Eric Majimbun, alluding to Tuaran MP Wilfred Bumburing's recent announcement that he had submitted sufficient proof to Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein as requested by the latter.

Majimbun, who is also Sepanggar MP, said nothing would come of Bumburing's United Pasukun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation's (Upko) brave act of collating evidence against abuse by coalition boss, Umno, in the contentious issue of citizenship for foreigners.

"Upko should know that the government is not going to suddenly turn around and acknowledge that a massive fraud had happened under their watch and without them knowing...
"We have ample proof and evidence that thousands of illegal immigrants in Sabah have been determining the outcome of the state and general elections all these years.

"The government has been ignoring and denying the existence of the issue due to its own agenda, which is an open secret.

“Foreigners prefer to discard their foreign nationality and embrace Malay as their race in order to have Malaysian citizens through the back door,” said Majimbun.

Own agenda

He pointed out that in 2007, the National Registration Department (NRD) had repeatedly snubbed and refused to appear before a parliamentary committee to explain the issuance of MyKads in Sabah. Coincidentally at the time Bernard Dompok, who is Upko president, happened to be the chairman of the parliamentary committee.

Dompok subsequently quit committee due to the snub.

“The officers concerned told Dompok that they had been ordered by their superiors not to appear before the parliamentary committee.

"The refusal of the officer surely confirms that the federal government has its own agenda and thus will be ruling forever,” he said.

Majimbun said that in 2008 he had handed a photocopy of an identity card bearing his name that was used by a foreigner, to former prime minister (Abdullah Ahmad Badawi) and his deputy (Najib Tun Razak) who is the prime minister now, during a BN meeting in 2008, but it was set aside without discussion.
"I handed them a copy of my IC that was used by a foreigner to the former prime minister and his deputy... they set it aside.

"It was remarkable... it just showed that the federal leadership was uncomfortable with the truth and did not know how to deal with it," he said, adding that Upko and its leaders knew this but have remained in the coalition and continue to prop up the government.

  1. What are we Sabahans waiting for? Our local based parties should leave BN and join SAPP in the struggle to throw out Umno from Sabah.

Don't be cowards hiding behind the BN blanket and whispering...

  2. Comments by RPK:

"The new State Secretary is bad news for Pakatan Rakyat. But I doubt Pakatan Rakyat is too concerned about that because they have other interests to focus on. They are not concerned about Umno or Barisan Nasional or about losing the State of Selangor. They are concerned only about how to kill of each other from the opposition.

Raja Petra Kamarudin and the MCLM are more dangerous than Najib Tun Razak and Umno. Raja Petra Kamarudin and the MCLM have a secret agenda. That secret agenda is to deny Pakatan Rakyat power and to ensure that Barisan Nasional stays in power for a long, long time to come.

Najib Tun Razak and Umno are not dangerous. The opposition need not worry about them. They should not focus on Najib Tun Razak and Umno."

This basically sums up what happened in Batu Sapi buy-election.

  3. All mere talks and gain popularity from people with rubbish!
Why at that times Eric never follow up and reveal with evidence about 'set-aside' but complaining now.
Still not too late as leader or dedicated MP to lead a reform the issue dare you with demonstration on street just like PR do.
Why join SAPP instead rather consider your position today better to join PR or UBF?SAPP can never be like before in BN making too much mistakes even to let UMNO into Sabah. Why blame now?

  4. SAPP should join other local front but make sure never return to bias with BN or UMNO or else down it goes into longkang!

  5. SAPP had too many times complain about the PTIs since their were still in the BN until considered a thorn among them..

Joining PR is no different from the BN (both are centrally controlled by the malayans)

PR should co-operate with SApp to topple BN if they are sincere...instead of wanting to contest all 60 seats...who do they think they are???

  6. There again, you see, the PR people already start whacking SAPP and Eric out of the blue without looking into the merits and substance of the statements. I see nothing in Eric's statement that warrant an attack from PR but the PR people already gone mad to gun down SAPP at all cost. Isn't that their real enemy is BN?

These PR idiots keep raising SAPP history in BN while forgotten Anwar Ibrahim was once UMNO Deputy President cum DPM.

Belum lagi menang sudah mau cucuk dan bunuh parti pembankang yg lain, belum menang sudah mau show off kuasanya, nampaknya ia lebih angkuh dan sombong drpd UMNO.

  7. There are many type of ghost in Sabah, phantom voters for e.g. Now I can see even ghosts prestending to be PKR and SAPP. They are trying to casue fight and misunderstanding between SAPP and PR. Don't fll for their tricks. Let Sabah people focus on the issues and establish a good government that has the mandate and authority to run the State with sincerity and efficiency. God Bless Sabah and get rid of the ghosts and devils.
