KOTA KINABALU (8 April 2008): Prime Minister Datuk Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is agreeable to Sabah’s request for solutions to a variety of issues that needs urgent federal attention.
Again and again, Sabah as had to live one pleading federal leaders and praying for an individual who has no institutionalised check and balance mechanism to prod him into action.
When is Sabah BN going to return some semblance of Federalism and devolved government to the state?
PUTRAJAYA: Two Members of Parliament from Sabah have been appointed Deputy Federal Ministers. Also appointed a Deputy Minister was Pahang Wanita Umno chief Datuk Maznah Mazlan.
Lajim, the Beaufort MP, was appointed Deputy Transport Minister while Kudat MP Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister. Maznah was made Deputy Natural Resources and Environment Minister.
As frustrated comments, see how desperate we are to get ministers appointed to the federal government.
That's because of the overt centralisation that has occurred over the years that have made our federation a moot concept.
You don't see German states or American states clamouring to have their natives get appointed to the federal cabinet do you? That's because their poeers are well devolved (local law enforcement, for example, is under state of sometimes city authorities, making them more reflexive to local needs) and their local governments are protected by legislation.
Right now, so much power is concentrated on the federal Executive that much of Sabah's future comes down the decisions of one man - the federal PM.
Proper checks and balance institutions must be set up. SAPP would be wise to remember that the reason they can survive as a solely Sabahan party is because federalism means a lot more to Sabahans than to people from many other states.
Prime Minister Datuk Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is agreeable to Sabah’s request for solutions to a variety of issues that needs urgent federal attention. WHAT IS THE HELL MEANING OF SABAH'S REQUEST? WHY SABAH NEED TO REQUEST THIS IS WHAT WE SHOULD HAVE AND DESERVED IT. ARE WE NOT PART OF MALAYSIA ?????
Wake up you all sabah politician leader !!!! This is the right timing for you to Say NO to federal.Especially UMNO sabah!! kamu ni orang sabahan juga lah...fight the right for sabahan lah.
After PM visited Sabah, where is the changes ? No, NO, No, changes. Why ? because PM still think Sabahan can not do anything to make the political turn around.
