Who will be the next Chinese DCM this time?

With the departure of Peter Pang from LDP, he will not be expected to hold on to the DCM post for long  ... has to follow Raymond Tan's footsteps ... pick your choices - Gerakan, MCA, PBS, Upko, PBRS? Leap from Party to Party! or roll the dice!

Now, the Sabah-based parties are saying it should be given to a local party.
The equation is.....Pang cannot follow Raymond Tan's footsteps by joining Gerakan ....Gerakan never won any election in Sabah and furthermore cannot be given 2 ministerial posts. On the other hand, MCA cannot fill the DCM post because it is from Semenanjung as opposed by the other component parties, the option is to join the local parties available...PBS, Upko, PBRS.

UMNO is a disease in Sabah revisited

Long-standing Sabah Barisan Nasional component party, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), is beginning to resemble a sitting duck in the ruling coalition.

The party is reeling from an onslaught by the coalition's linchpin, Umno Sabah, which has made it a habit to harass its coalition partner.

The continued baiting has put LDP leaders in a combative mood after yet another Umno division leader made a public demand for a state seat held by the party.

Unprecedented, says LDP boss

Sandakan: International Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Datuk Liew Vui Keong described the retention of Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Deputy President Datuk Raymond Tan Shu Kiah as Deputy Chief Minister and Infrastructure Development Minister as "unprecedented".

He was commenting on a report that Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman had advised Tan to "stay on" until he consulted the Barisan Nasional component parties, before deciding on an action.

LDP eyeing vacant posts

SAPP's pullout from the BN was expected based on their actions and conduct recently, according to LDP President Datuk Liew Vui Keong.

Nevertheless, Liew said he felt sad claiming that he and Yong were "good friends" and added the move had left a gap (all government positions)which needs to be filled under the BN umbrella."

Claiming LDP now being the strongest Chinese-based party in Sabah to fill this gap, he said he is confident that his party will continue to advance the "cause and struggle" of Malaysian Chinese in Sabah. 18 Sep 2008 more...

Sufficient reasons for Govt to act, says Liew

Kuala Lumpur: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) President Datuk Liew Vui Keong said there were sufficient grounds for the Government to use the ISA on blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin, Seputeh Member of Parliament Teresa Kok and Sin Chew Daily reporter Tan Hoon Cheng.

Liew, who is Deputy International Trade and Industry Ministry, said he was shocked when he heard the news of the detentions Friday night but after being briefed on the reasons for the detention and listening to a statement from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi that the Government would not take such action without reason, he understood why the action was taken.

SAPP must be punished: LDP

Penampang: The BN Supreme Council should take disciplinary action against SAPP at its next meeting over the party's stated intention to support any no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
LDP Deputy President Datuk Chin Su Phin made the suggestion after the official opening of his Api Api Division's AGM by LDP Organising Secretary Yong Vui Chung.

Teo Chee Kang's statement's an insult

"For LDP's Secretary-general YB Teo Chee Kang to criticize SAPP as beng rhetoric and doing nothing else other then sending memorandums concerning Sabah's problems is an insult to both SAPP and the people of Sabah," said SAPP Asst Information Chief, Chong Pit Fah.

SAPP 'dare to speak up unlike LDP'

"It's really amazing that he (Liew) has changed his once hostile attitude towards the Federal leadership so quickly, after having won the election and being appointed Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry," said Tham in a statement, Wednesday.
