Government to appeal against court decision on RPK

Syed Hamid said: “If we find a threat, we will use it. (But) we must be just and fair. We don’t want to victimise anyone.”

To be just, we use the court of justice. To be fair, we also use the court of justice. Was Teresa Kok not victimised? Was the Sin Chiew reporter not victimised? ISA now, is being used as a political tool rather than for security e.g. against terrorists, fanatical religious groups.

Sufficient reasons for Govt to act, says Liew

Kuala Lumpur: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) President Datuk Liew Vui Keong said there were sufficient grounds for the Government to use the ISA on blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin, Seputeh Member of Parliament Teresa Kok and Sin Chew Daily reporter Tan Hoon Cheng.

Liew, who is Deputy International Trade and Industry Ministry, said he was shocked when he heard the news of the detentions Friday night but after being briefed on the reasons for the detention and listening to a statement from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi that the Government would not take such action without reason, he understood why the action was taken.

Arrests aim at fuelling resentment

Malaysia is facing a malicious attempt at false provocation.
Clearly, the selectiveness of the ISA arrests is an insidious and misleading attempt to create resentment among particular communities. Why else arrest the messenger but not the message maker, or a politician proven to be only falsely accused? more...
