Kota Kinabalu, Nov 12, 2010: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) ex-Assistant Secretary-General, Foo Fook Ming questioned the government whether that income level, occupation and political affiliation part of the conditions to receive a free computer.

"In recent months, the BN government has been dishing out tens of thousands of laptop computers to individuals. Are the computers given out in accordance with the specifications?

"SAPP advises the government officers handling the distribution of the computers to make sure that they do not become victims in being involved in dishing out illegal, substandard computers installed with pirated software.

Money laundering by Sabah politicians?

Reports are rife on the detention of several people linked to a top ranking political personality from Sabah to facilitate investigations of money laundering activities by the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC).

It was published in the national Chinese daily, Nanyang Siang Pau and news portal Malaysiakini.

Nanyang Siang Pau on June 11 claimed eight people linked to the Chief Minister of Sabah had been detained by MACC to facilitate investigations into cases linked to the high profile case when a businessman with known business links to Sabah Umno was apprehended at the Hong Kong International Airport on Aug 18, 2006 with RM16 million in cash, which he could not accounted for.

Stop subsidising Umnoputras, cut wastage, remove inefficiencies and curb corruption

Kota Kinabalu, Thu, 3 June 2010: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) President Datuk Yong Teck Lee today said the government must seriously, urgently and sincerely eliminate subsidies to UMNO and BN leaders and remove wastages and inefficiencies in the government and curb corruption among its ranks before imposing cuts on subsidies on livelihood necessities that will affect the people.

"For Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jala, a successful corporate leader who had headed Shell Sarawak and then Malaysia Airlines, to warn of national bankruptcy in nine years' time means that the national malaise is worse than earlier known.

"But before the government forces its so-called subsidy rationalisation plan on ordinary people, it must first remove all subsidies for UMNO and its leaders at various levels.

"Subsidies such as the lucrative "do nothing" Approved Permits (APs) given to UMNO leaders to import vehicles cost the government much revenues. UMNO and BN government leaders travel all over the country on government expenses for their political activities.

"Blank shares in public listed companies issued to UMNO leaders and public work contracts worth billions of ringgit are much talked-about ways that UMNO divisional leaders are rewarded.

Submarine....dubious deal?

The government has downplayed a French probe into claims of corruption over a RM3.7 billion submarine deal linked to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, saying there was "no case" to answer.

French judicial officials have confirmed to AFP that they opened a probe in March into the 2002 sale of two Scorpene submarines made by the French shipbuilder DCN.

There is no case against transport minister and former MCA president Ong Tee Keat linking him to the allegation that he received RM10 million for political activities from Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Tiong King Sing (below).
Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Deputy Chief Commissioner Mohd Shukri Abdull said investigation papers were forwarded to their deputy public prosecutor but were returned with orders that the case be closed.
"The (deputy public prosecutor) said there was no case against him (Ong)," Mohd Shukri said.
MACC Deputy Public Prosecutor Abdul Razak Musa, when contacted said: "We cannot trace the cash flow and cannot proceed further," he said.

BAGAN DATOH: The Royal Malaysia Air Force (RMAF) F-5E fighter jet engine missing since 2007 was sold to an international company based in South America, said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
